I had to give my burandy leaf colored ficus away to a friend with a four season sun room. It out grew every space I had for it. It was huge.

That's impressive that it does well in a north-facing window. I got some ficus elastica varieties that wouldn't grow much in an eastern window. They are better in my southern window.

thanks ... yes it is a big window with pretty good lighting... there may be some sun shine in this room in the morning... but yeah I am impressed as well that it is doing so good..

Im pretty new to this whole ficus world. But I have a few questions. Basically my mom has two ficus trees one weeping fig and other benjamina variety. She bought them in 1995 and never repotted them or did anything to them except watering and using fertilizer every once in a while. My entire childhood the benjamina one was my favorite but it was weird for me that they never grew much. Trough 25+ years they stayed moraless the same size and shape. A few days ago I decided that it was time to repot them so I unpotted them and basically what I found was that two thirds of the roots were rotten and there were almost no new roots in the pot, also, it was so tightly bound that I think it started to choke itself. I washed out all soil from beneath the roots with a high pressure hose nozzle and left only bare roots. I trimmed out all the very thick twisty infected looking roots, and I also found the original peat plug in the middle are covered in just plain white mildew, so took that thing out, and left the thin ones that were moraless at the perimeter of the pot and then I planted them in their new soil in new pots. What should I expect from them now? I did that not knowing a single thing about ficus and now I am worried I might have ruined basically my family airloom. Will they survive? Should I do something to them to help the root system grow and heal? I am now worried that after cutting out all the very thick twisted middle roots I basically ruined both plants. But I left plenty of thinner roots. My mom said that they will 100% loose their leaves and should regrow them.

Hi. Amazing video and plants. Can you please share the exact soil brand that you mixed with the organic one. Also what brand is the time release fertilizer. I’m new to plants and trying to save my Benjamin Ficus that’s dying. Thank you so much!!!!

Thank you for the great video! I'm curious, how long did you own your Ficus trees for at the time that you made this video? Thank you!
