    As a medical aesthetician, I have found Sunday Riley's ingredients to be spectacular. I really could care less about the business side of their business. Cruelty-Free, Pure Ingredients, Results. That's all that matters to me. Another product I love is Suzanne Kaufmann and she uses the same suction-to-glass bottle packaging system. It was actually created to keep the product fresh. I also find it easier to get every last drop instead of scrapping the container. It does it for you.

      It’s disheartening to hear that a medical aesthetician doesn’t care about the business side of the products, given that you yourself are in the skincare industry. I would never want to purchase anything you recommend if you don’t care about who is putting out those products, and it would make me wary about getting a treatment done by you. There are plenty of great formulations from brands that have not been outed for pressuring their employees to falsify reviews.

    4:01 the reason they and a lot of others put the plastic inside the glass this way, is to keep the ingredients stable. The way the plastic is done, it reduces oxidation from air exposure, and the reason they and others house it all in glass, it acts like an insulator, so if you’re storing it chilled it won’t have major temp fluctuations while you have it out for your skincare routine (though it’s not NECESSARY to chill it, with KP or Rosacea like what I have, it can make it more soothing). I hope this explanation of this part helps others understand that reasoning a little bit more 😊

    I used the entire CEO line and it's helped my skin tremendously! My serum & moisturizer lasted 5months. Their products are extremely concentrated so you're not using a lot.
    I've been in the beauty industry for 10years & recently started freelancing for Sunday Riley when I relocated to Atlanta. I chose to work for them because I truly believe in their products.
    I work for 4 other reputable cosmetic brands (all carried in Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom & Neimans) Sunday Riley is the only brand still paying their freelancers and keeping in contact through Covid19 quarantine. That speaks volumes to the woman she is. I have so many friends in the industry who are struggling because of layoffs. Now is the time you find out which companies are for profit or the people & she is for us hands down! #TeamSunday

    I’m personally not sure why people equate the size of the bottle or packaging to the amount of product you get? The product amount is always listed and at least a lot of OG korean brands were not shy to use bulky fun packaging for standard sized products? If somebody buys a product thinking they’re getting more than what’s labelled on the bottle then that’s up to consumer ignorance IMO. Drunk elephant does the same thing and I’ve never thought of them as ‘trying’ to trick consumers into thinking they were getting more products, the ML is listed right there on the front and back

    • @ohmiyaiba
      @ohmiyaiba 4 роки тому +40

      yes, i agree with your point. But on the other hand, i watched the mentioned video Beauty News made on SR good genes that actually consumer cannot get 15ml out of the bottle. i belive the the listed amount should be how much you can get.

    • @seanodell56
      @seanodell56 4 роки тому +19

      Miya Oh I agree!!, but a lot of brand packaging have those issues and not Sunday Riley particularly, it contains 15ml and that’s what’s listed so they aren’t trying to purposely ‘deceive’ anyone, unfortunately it’s just bad packaging design and not because they want to trick anyone into thinking they get more. & listing how much you get vs how much is in the bottle would cause security risks and issues especially with the TSA, that’s why it’s always the amount in the bottle and now how much you get out of it due to packaging flaws.

      @ohmiyaiba 4 роки тому +6

      @@seanodell56 wow you're making the point so clear👍 didn't think of the TSA issues. Yes the luxury beauty brands are tend to make bulky packages so they can look more fair to be expensive. I wonder how much the airless jar packaging adds to the cost of the product? I have purchased empty airless jars on Amaz*n to decant other loved creams which are packaged in regular twist lid jars. The jars run between 7 and 11 dollars apiece on Amaz*n's ever sliding price scale. @@annecraig8257 I was thinking the same. The only way I know how to relate it is to food lol. Like how people make fun of how Chip bags are mostly air, but I think Chip companies have to do that so the chips don’t break and crumble. Also, if you cut open the styrofoam from Cup of Noodles, you’ll see that the noodles are only in the middle of the package and the remainder is air. They have to do that so there is room for the noodles to expand. Granted, these are just cheap food items compared to expensive skin care, but my point is that sometimes it’s not just the company trying to skimp on their products but it’s due to packaging and what works best with it.

They’re also very “no nonsense” with regards to ingredients and fragrances. They focus far more on conclusive and scientifically backed ingredients compared to brands like Sunday Riley, Kiel’s, origins, Peter Thomas Roth, Mario badescu, etc.

    I'm a licensed Esthetician and I absolutely love Sunday Riley. It has completely changed my skin. The new Ice Ceramide moisturizer is amazing!!!! In regards to their makeup line failing, of course they wouldn't want to talk about it especially if they have decided to steer away from makeup. The moisturizers are not expired. Just needs to be mixed. Not uncommon for products to be less than what it looks like either. That seems unfair that you would call Sunday Riley out for this seeing how pretty much every other brand does this as well. Also, they are a cult brand and were trying to promote their sales in regards to the posting of "fake" reviews. They are little more expensive so people dont necessarily want to just try their products in case they dont like it. Not saying it was right but the ingredients are amazing. What more do you want? Maybe they haven't made the best choices professionally in regards to promotion, but that shouldn't take away from whether or not their products work. Again, mix the product CEO moisturizer. It just settled that way. You really sound like you don't know what you are talking about if this is your basis for this whole video. A shame that some people are not going to try any of their products now and are going to miss out on the extraordinary benefits.

It’s not AS expensive as others for the same type size of others and most importantly, every single thing I’ve bought from SR works amazingly well, and does not irritate my very fragile and sensitive skin! I think all the points made in this video are pretty much the same CALL OUTS that belong to every single skin care and makeup manufacturer out there today, so why single them our? Their products are good and work! I have tried things for the last five years that are completely useless or irritating and I’m so happy I went back to her products because after just a few days of use, my skin is flawless.

    I believe that the airless pump packaging like you showed is a pro, not a con! While some people may be thinking they’re buying more product than they are, and many people won’t take the time to open it up and use the last bits or properly recycle the bottle, the bottle is recyclable. Compared to other airless pumps, which are multiple pieces of plastic which are hard to separate and aren’t rely large curbside, this is a huge win. And, as I’m sure you know, airless pumps are a game changer for reducing contamination, increasing shelf life, and even reducing the amount of preservatives needed in a product.

    i havent finished the video yet. and i adore that you dive in and take the time to give us so much background knowledge on brands and their products. The comment that I have is about the size of containers and the amount of product. I get that getting a huge container with 15ml of product might make you feel ripped off because it looks like you have a half full container, however you're told how much actualy product that you are getting so unless there isnt the same amount of product as what is stated that there should be... you cant really be dissaointed about that. Now is packaging makes it hard to get that product out so youre not getting to use all of it, yes 100% that is really frustrating and should be called out. If products are so pricy because its a huge glass container that is really not needed to contain our product, they need to be called out. If product containers dont protect the product so it is expired as you had found with the mask, YES, what are you doing skin care brands.
    but concerning the actualy amount of product compared to the size of the container.. i dont really see why its a huge thing because you are being told that you are purchasing x amount of product. Again if we arent getting that that is a huge issue.
    Loads of love! I would love to see a video like this on herbivore and caudalie!

    First thing's first- I love you and you've inspired me to dig deeply into my skincare. However, I'm disappointed this video wasn't an actual review of the ingredients nor products. It sucks that there are clearly some ethical issues with branding, but the products genuinely work, are cruelty- and fragrance-free, and a little goes a long way. Yes, they're super expensive and packaging is misleading, but literally every other brand does the same exact thing. It also helps to shop smart through Google Shopping vs Sephora, Ulta, etc. The products are just too expensive to buy at full price. Hoping you'll revisit this one.

  • @caitierosie
    @caitierosie 3 роки тому +6

    I think this video is super negative and adds into the toxicity of social media and the impact you can have on a social platform. Everyone's skin is different. Just because a product didn't work for you, doesn't mean it won't work for someone else and that's what needs to be understood in the beauty world in general. I deal with many clients everyday who didn't know they were allergic to an ingredient in the product but blame the product instead of thinking about what's right for their skin. I have clients who don't follow instructions, and burn their skin by mixing ingredients they shouldn't or don't wear a sunscreen. You state many points in this video that just aren't positive and aren't accurate in my opinion. You talk about the mL's and price point - that's up to the client. Sunday Riley's price point and mL in the products align with 70% of what is carried in Sephora? Brands like DE, PTR, Dr.Dennis Gross, Kate Sommerville, Murad.. the list goes on. You speak to expired product, that was your choice to not return it? Sometimes this happens from a product being on the shelf to long.. this has happened to me with both makeup and skincare - that's your choice. Over 50% of the brands in Sephora have had "Scandals," everyone deserves another chance and this doesn't effect how good products actually are. While I do think many brands create a 'show' for marketing and can lead clients in the wrong direction, many brands also don't do that. I'm passionate about the brand because I have dealt with hormonal and cystic acne my whole life and this brand was one of the only ones that changed it because they pay attention to supplier integrity and ingredient quality. Did you know Sunday created UFO for her 13 year old daughter who had cystic acne because she could tell her weekly trips to sephora with her daughter after months and months of nothing working was extremely taxing on her mental and emotional health along with her friends and their self confidence? I think now a days this beauty world is more uneducated and toxic than it ever has been. At the end of the day listen to YOUR skin and choose what's right for YOU. Not because a million other people said so - while this often leads to best sellers, it is up to you to educate yourself, go down the trial and error path and make your own decision.

    I feel like in past videos, you would literally list all ingredients, go through them, explain what they do, how they work together... you would show quotes from marketing (and now I mean advertising claims, not the fake review scandal only) and take them apart. Herer you say they lie to folks with acne not you don't really get into the detail. The entire video has a strong subjective vibe and although I like the energy, at the end I was left feeling like I ought to hate this brand. I have never left your videos like that before, I always had information I could base my own decision on, and even maybe purchase a couple of products which would suit me, with knowing the background of the company as well as knowing which products are probably a miss. I know you put a lot of work into these videos, so I hope you don't take this the wrong way. I am simply leaving this here because I suppose you appriciate feedback. Good luuuck :)

    I’m going to be honest. I have spent hundreds of dollars on Sunday Riley Skincare and I don’t know if the products were wrong for my skin type or what, but I broke out horribly even after the purging period. This is the frustration I have with skincare products in general, it is completely trial and error until you find what works for you and it can be an extremely costly process!

    Hey girly! Thanks for the info. I don’t have any Sunday Riley and now I never will so thanks for saving me that money! My morals and ethics just wont allow me to. For the question you asked, I would love to know more about Hale & Hush. I can’t seem to find ANYTHING about them other than they are a skin care line that focuses more on sensitive skin. There is an esthetician in town that works with it and I’m hesitant to buy. Much love from Melbourne, Florida ♥️

      It's better to recommend action plans for these companies to take or maybe for Sephora. rather than criticize them openly and tear them apart like this. With the expired product, it's also possible the fault was on Sephoras end. Im just ruling out the possibilities. Cancel culture just isnt the way to go these days. Agree that the fake reviews were truly scandalous. And a statement might have been better on their end. But products wise, they really do have some great ones. Juno, the auto correct eye cream and Good Genes were very good for me.

      You can try the lactic acid serum from the ordinary it’s not expensive at all and it might not be AS good but it may be enough for you to rethink the price point

      If you consider buying the ordinary’s lactic acid be weary it made my skin pretty dry and smoothed our texture the first day then gave me a bunch of small pimples everywhere. Definitely recommend Farmacy’s Honeymoon Glow Serum! It’s lactic acid and honey infused so it will exfoliate and smooth while nourishing and protecting your moisture barrier. Also, lactic acid is the second ingredient in their formula list so you’re not getting scammed out of the actual percentage of your actives 😉

      Stephanie Ponce the only thing is good genes can be used day and night and it seems lactic acid can only be used at night. Can that product with honey be used in the am? I like the smoothing effects of good genes under my makeup.

    So we aren’t mad at the part that matters which is the stuff that goes on your face? I hate to say it, but if a product does amazing things for my skin I really don’t care what they are doing behind the scenes 🤷🏼‍♀️ I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but businesses entire goal is to turn a profit, the bigger the better. I’ll never be mad about a business making money as long as they’re providing me with stellar products/services.

All dates are checked into a computer BEFORE they even enter a store, and there is an automatic alert for expiration date at least 6 months BEFORE they expire and MUST be removed. Getting an expired product from Sephora is a 0.00001% chance

    I think all brand don't give enough product, and it’s normal because the ingredients that are used are expensive as it is. Plus, when you have your own business, you have to triple the cost of the product by what it cost you to make it. And another point is that if you buy things online, you have the risk of getting products that can be damaged during shipment, etc. I think maybe we should give the benefit of the doubt and focus on the products effectiveness or not.

    I’ve experienced something with the company that seems to me like no one else noticed. I bought the Juno oil (in the UK) but the ingredients list on the product didn’t match the one on the website (official or retailer’s)! It was almost as if they flipped the ingredients and meadowfoam oil was the first one on the list! While the one that was supposed to be first one was the last! The rest were out of place too. I contacted the company but didn’t hear anything back and the official retailer I got it from also couldn’t get in touch with them so after a month or so they refunded me without any explanation form the company.

    I find it funny when people complains about packaging saying it’s not that much product... mam the net weight is literally mentioned on the bottle?? Like no matter the size of the packaging the net product is going to be the same? So much R&D behind how much is inside the bottle is laughable. Also idk about others but the SR products works really well on my acne prone skin compared to some other well know skin brands like DE or KS and they’re all priced around the similar range. So for me personally it has been a really good brand.

Are the microplastics in this product cause for concern, or is this just an overreaction from consumers who don't have all the information?
