Definitely needs to be beefed up for strength upon installation. Also, that non-captured knob on top is just begging for it to be lost in the water. When the reel is full, it definitely looks like it is much longer than 1 foot in circumference. It seems like that Cannon is vertically mounted, and that what you are looking for is horizontally mounted.
A lot of reviews complained about that very thing: the top knob comes off and falls in the water! I have since upgraded to an older pair of Walker downriggers where the school is turned 90° and it makes all the difference.
