  • Jim Messina's musical journey is remarkable in its length and versatility. He's been a successful songwriter, producer, engineer, publisher, and of course, artist. He played bass with Buffalo Springfield and co-founded Poco, but he's best known for his work with Kenny Loggins, with Loggins & Messina ultimately selling more than 20 million albums before going on to successful solo careers. He continues to record, perform, produce, and mentor younger artists.

Love Jim's work. A lifetime of excellence. Just saw him on a rerun of some light night show playing bass on " heart of the night:. Couldn't believe it, I thought he had already left Poco. I guess he was helping them out. Excellent musician and producer.

From what he's told me, his exit from Poco was a gradual one. He continued to work with the band for several months even after he signed on as a producer with Clive Davis. He is, in so many ways, a consummate professional, and one of his priorities at that point was to not leave the band hanging. Jim is truly one of the good ones.
