If I could play like anyone, and I have much admired a LOT of players, Jim Messina would be at the top of my list. I love his touch on that Fender. Love his thumb pick and finger picking the strings. Love his style. He of course is not the singer that Kenny Loggins is, but no one else is either. I grew up on Buffalo Springfield, and fell in love with Poco (to this day). In the early 70s, Loggins and Messina were favorits on my vinyl play list. I played those L&M early albums every day. Yeah me and millions of others. Today in 2024? I hear people asking, "who is Jim Messina"? All I can say is, omg.
Can't wait to see him at MIM in Phoenix next week. A true veteran, still pickin' and grinnin'! Definitely some tribute to be paid - we saw him with Loggins and Messina at the Celebrity for their FIRST tour - Minds Completely Blown Away! and then, every time since that we could manage.
Lovely. Except of course the irritating guy in the audience laughing... Great song, great album, great tree trunk of a group that had long reaching branches - just so much talent to burn.
Rusty Young is the glue that held Poco together over the decades, brilliant guitarist 🎸.
Jim is such a gentleman and a consummate musician.

What a great story, and the delivery was awesome. Thanks to Jim Messina and to all involved for this video. R. I. P. Rusty Young.
Love Jim Messina ! So soft spoken…..
I have always loved Jim's tones. In fact, every Saturday afternoon, after working the Earth, I have a Labatt and listen to Kenny and Jim.

We will be there! I always liked Jim's voice and guitar playing over Kenny. But Kenny wasn't bad either! :-)
That was so cool. Really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing this story and a fantastic, slow performance of this unique song.
Seeing Jim tonight in Cincy always loved B.S, and Poco! pretty much any decedent of Bufflao Springfield!
