- My hometown Kiev!!
The other side of Kiev..This is how 75% of the population in Kiev live like.
In this district, which is shown in the video, live more than 1.000.000 people!
However this is not a good example of poverty in Ukraine! Other cities like Charkiv and especially villages in Ukraine suffer big poverty and hard life circumstances while Kiev is the best place to live in the whole country! Check out my other video about "Extreme Poverty" in Ukraine!
In these houseprojects live only middle class people!
I loved Kyiv, I still love it. Hope to see u soon my dearest city of whole planet! Respect from Bucharest, Romania!
This city is currently under attack😔 Praying for safety of all its residents🙏🏾
As an Englishman in Kiev I was initially shocked by the appearance of the soviet blocks but I never felt in danger. The people although not immediately friendly will not cause any trouble. There are many districts in UK and US with much higher crime and murder rates.
UK no us absolutely

Greetins from Poland, my ukrainian friends. I want to change your country as we was changing. Kiev looks like polish cities from early 90's. That's not honestly. We must be together, friends, still help you to look and feel you better. I love Ukraine!!!
WE MUST HELP UKRAINE.

Troeschina is not ghetto. I like it. I get an apartment there every time I go cause it's cheaper, less traffic and peaceful.
Wow, If i hadn't known it's Kiev I would have said it's Belgrade in 90s. We are all slavic people and I can't believe how similar we are to each other. Our music, people, cities, culture.... We must stay together as one nation!
We are all slavs, greetings to you my serbian brother! 🇺🇦🤝🇷🇸

I was born here and moved to the u.s at 6 and ended up in an even worse neighborhood here Kensington ,Philadelphia, Pennsylvania I think it's time to go home, all ukrainians around the world should come home to the motherland and help with the fight , I'm moving back in 6 weeks to lviv and I can't wait

Damn in Albania we still have these eastern buildings :/ Poverty is not that much anymore thank God but we still have shitty communist buildings
Are You Mad ? Russia the best. dont want to live in this buildings live on the street
Yooo the district that im living in!!! Sick vid!
Ukrainian people who live in these apartments are not so poor, they are NOT poverty. In 2013 the price of 1-room apartments costs about 40,000 US dollars, 2-rooms apartment is about 60,000 US dollars. It is NOT cheap, it is the chapest price, many apartments cost more. Owners, probably, are very lucky to have these apartments, because in Kiev, Ukraine, during the period 1991-2013 only few families were able to get free apartments from the government. All others must buy it now. In 2013 many of these buildings in Troeschina and other surrounding districts of Kyiv are packed with many-many cars in a backyards of these buildings. Some people do not buy apartments, they just came to Kiev from other cities, and they rent their flats, but they have or buy cars. Cars parking place is just a place around these buildings. Funny, or not funny, but OWNERS of apartments MUST BE VERY HAPPY. They have their own apartments. Young Ukrainians who is 17-20 years old must work 30 years to earn for their own apartment? Who knows? May be they will be lucky! :)
That's a good point, but you exagerrate a little! Now in 2016 (end of year) the price for 2-rooms apartment (about 60 sq.meters whole) is about 45-50,000 USDollars. It is still a good price. Smallest 1-room-apartment will cost less, but not too drastically, at least 30-35,000 usd. Are you in Ukraine now or not?
I agree with Maholen123, I'm also a Czech and I live in comparable suburb as is in the video. And I live in Prague, the "pearl of Europe". Maybe some of the buildings are better maintained in here, because of more money. But it's the same type of house and most of them are in the same shape. These buildings must have been build EVERYWHERE, Eastern block or West, because people needs to live somewhere fast and cheap.
Wow this is very bad to see it must be very depressing to live there according to me but i'm glad to see a different side how people live,, great video man!
This video make me think how lucky I am. Thank you God.
отличненько,но мой дом как-всегда пропустили.

Ukraine is a big country so there are many different looking places. Lviv is one of the nicest city's in Europe for example.
I don't know...these areas don't look nearly as bad as the things I've seen in the southeast part of DC. I'm guessing most of Ukraine's poverty lies in villages? I've seen pictures of Ukrainian village and its like a throwback to 1885 or something.
If you live in Ukraine - you likely do not have a car. So every morning you have to get to your work on public transport.
But public transport worse that in Ukraine I cant imagine. It is rotten old buses where most of people stand, it is giant traffic jams.
To reach center of Kiev from Troeshina you have to stand 1:20 in rotten bus and in subway train. And at evening 1:20.
And tomorrow will be the same horror, and whole your life.
You will get to the work already tired of public transport
In Brazil too.
thank you for the video, some countries have stopped building these giant apartment buildings because its not a good way for people to live
@liljgoneman
Should I choose Mozart or what?
I know it, there's neighbourhoods like that here, too. I live in one.

I love toe live here tank you for video i cry end make me happy

This video was shot through a dirty car window. This district in the summer despite the gray color of the buildings is filled with green trees everywhere. It has playgrounds and wide sidewalks. You could go for a walk in this district and walk for hours on tree-lined streets, without ever crossing a road due to underground crossings, and you will be safe. People who live in these apartments are middle class, because in Europe most people live in apartment buildings. That's why unlike Detroit or Bronx, while you are on your one hour walk in Kiev, you will never run into a crazy person talking to himself, or someone sleeping in a box. People who live in this district still get decent free healthcare, or very affordable paid one. Maybe not all of them have cars, because of excellent public transport, the cheapest in Europe, but they have friends, social life, most of them are thin and well dressed, have at least a Bachelor's degree, they read books, eat good food and are happy, even though a lot of them don't suspect how good their lives are (hence this video made by someone who obviously have never lived in an American ghetto.)
+Inara590 Lol, the sad thing is that you do see people talking to themselves, if not more...have you seen the current situation or are you still looking at the bright side. Troeschina was said to be one of the worst areas by google as the google street view drivers said they didnt feel comfortable here as they didnt in areas of detroit, los angeles and some areas in london. You can't say the cheapest area with the 500,000 population is good, if you want to brag about good areas maybe mention obolonska naberezhna or something. Please.
Hey, how is this district of Kiev called? I'm going to visit Kiev this year and would also like to see this side of the city..
respect from roumania
Ukrainians are such a nice and civilised people. Every city has poor parts. Don’t worry.
Could you please tell the name of the Song ? Thanks in advance..:)

At least you guys have buildings, with sewage and all. Here in Brazil in the Favelas (slums) people build their own shack, no sewage systme or nothing.

I agree! Yes! there is others out there who are able to appreciate and understand that these are NOT slums! Sure there are some structures needing attion, and some are in real need of renovation to make them habitable again. But many of these are very nice looking. The purpose --original design intent of the "stacked high rise" is to get inhabitents off of land surface to free up city land surface for PARKS! and OPEN GREEN SPACE!! And you see that here. I wish I could come to Kiev! Im from USA!
Respect from Poland
yes, thats true..at night it is very beautiful! :)
If you want to see poverty go to East St.Louis or Chicago or L.A. or to and Indian reservation in the west...we have in the USA 48 million people in food stamps...So yo can find poverty any place you go..Have you seen photos of Haiti...Kiev is like paradise compare with many other places that I have seen in the world and yes I have been in Kiev!!!
one thing i use to like is kiosk which we could buy beer i from lithuania we have same but i emigrated to ireland which getting poor country as well in ireland we have deep recession which increasing poverty
What's this song called?
@UkraineAlex1 I agree. I had visited Kiev about 6 times the last few years. My wife lived in Brovary, which was very similar to this. Its not that bad, I wouldn't call it completely "ghetto", but its also not a suburban area with houses e.t.c. What can they do, when salary is very low, rent isn't that cheap in such complexes. Areas shown in the video are from the '60's explosion of Russian cement buildings that popped up all over the place. Apartments can be nice on the inside.
@UkraineAlex1
I understand that Kiev is a quite big city with around 2 million people in it.
I am Danish, and Im quite curious about life in the Ukraine. Can a person create a better future for oneself and ones family? And is a ukraine a good country for going to vacation in? :) :) If I go to vacation there with me and my father, is there any dangers of any kind? :) :) Just interested
I've been to Kiev and I speak fairly decent Russian. I loved it there and I was actually impressed by it. I also lived in St. Petersburg in a large soviet complex like the ones shown in this video. There is no denying that the United States is a richer country, but I wouldn't expect your problems to go away there - but who knows, maybe someday you will come here and you will be extremely happy)))
as a citizen of the united states, I would like to see our government become actively involved with Ukrainian people. support your commerce with trade, have American companies develop jobs in Ukraine. instead we trade with the Chinese and all they are interested in is sending us toys that are tainted with lead paint and stealing our ideas.
If you compare today to the 90s, that are two different worlds...got much better!!
all those buildings look like my place, but i still think mines ALOT better, i hope u make it throught this shit bro, and remember the ppl with the most succes comes from bad areas, so keep going

Song name please ?
Name of the song?
Don't forget people in the western part of Ukraine are the poorest of the country. People often think that the western part of Ukraine is richer because it lays closer to Europe. This is not true (!). The eastern part has much more money because of good relationsto the rich russians and the huge amount of industry.
