  • Let's go for a ride starting in Highland Park (first few buildings), and then into Detroit . Witness the destruction of once Great industrial American cities turning them into ghost towns. Even in downtown Detroit, there are empty skyscrapers.... This video is just a TINY fraction of insane amount of buildings destroyed in Detroit . Historical buildings are falling apart leaving nothing for the next generations to admire. I urge viewers to research the true reasons of why this happened to this city, because if it happened to once great Detroit..... it might happen to Yours...

      jack johnson No he wouldn't weep, because his company outsourced the jobs overseas creating this urban decay. He would be smiling all the way to the bank, because his company is now in a position to receive larger margins of profit on the backs of kids in China who work for very very little. The car companies both built and destroyed the Motor City.

    I was back in town last year and a friend from 25 years ago and I reconnected. We went for a ride to see what happened to all the places we lived at, hung out at, worked at, and where we were born. We started at 8 and gratiot and headed south on Gratiot. We drove all way downtown and then headed north on Woodward and hung at right at 8 Mile back to our starting point. We detoured a long the way to a ton of places and pretty much every spot from our past is either torn down or vacant and decayed. It felt like a big part of our past was just wiped out. Sad.

    This is the result of what the English did by bringing the Black man here.Look at africa.If no white man stepped on the continent of Africa they would be living as they have for many thousands of years.Just hunter gatherers.Who is to say the white mans way is better ?Better for a white man.The white man invents things and in his world he became industrious and that was his way.The Black man created his world that fits his way.I'm not being sarcastic.I believe the Black mans way is to be tribal and thats his happiness.

      GabrealCollins That's an insanely stupid comment, this has nothing to do with the,"nature of a black man." Detroit's demise has to do mainly with economics. Detroit's economy has long been based in the automobile industry, so Detroit was essentially on a single crop economy. When you ship the production of automobiles over sea, because it's much cheaper, Detroit loses it's main source of revenue. When people realize there are no jobs and that the city is broke, they leave. When people leave, buildings go abandoned and the city goes into debt, and so on. Spare us your racist bullshit dude.

    • @alexisjaussen489
      @alexisjaussen489 9 років тому +2

      Nick George Many cities lost their industries and they bounced back. Detroit could have but the people refused to vote in people who would improve things. I do not mean to sound racist with this but the people in Detroit love policies that keep them from getting out poverty like social promotion and this practice stops people from learning skills. Black voters do not care if their politicians steal or get caught doing something unethical, it is not racist if it is true because these people keep getting elected. There is a crazy thought that black students cannot learn in white structured schools so they either fudge the grades to keep bad schools from ever getting closed or they use social promotion so everyone can get a highschool diploma without effort. No businesses want to move in because they are afraid of getting robbed and there is no middle class, everyone is on welfare. They are not doing enough to make the streets safer, there is no infrastructure at all. Cities can adapt if they want to.

    I was born and raised in Detroit. Detroit died when profits were maximized by not investing in the factories. Robots are very good at building cars and other items. Workers in large numbers are no longer needed. America is now a service economy. People i.e. workers are no longer needed in great numbers. Detroit died when Detroit stopped building a product anyone wanted. With no jobs people without money cannot maintain any kind of economy. The rich do not educate the young because they have no need for educated workers, they just cause trouble and expect things like health care, decent housing, and products they can't afford to buy. The rich had no need for Detroit, they can afford cars built by Europe and Asia. The American are allowed to work for Walmart and buy products made by children and adults in countries with no child labor laws, or any labor law at all, no health insurance, and little or no health care at all. It's not the Democrats who are pushing the US in that direction, watch what Donnie and the Republicans destroy your access to health care and your children's access to quality education. Revolution is latin for a new turn, when will it be the American people's turn for a better life than what was provided to the people of Detroit? Detroit is not the only city facing this collection of problems, in the current political climate most cities face a similar future. Wake Up America: Donald Lied to You!

  • @IKhanNot

    Detroit could have still been a powerhouse but in order to do that and stay competitive when other markets were building themselves up was to get rid of the unions. The unions were pushing the companies to pay wages to employees that were ridiculously high. When they should have been making $20 an hour they were getting paid $40 an hour. Employee and union greed made the companies say "fuck it" and they went off to Mexico and Asia. That and the fact that Detroit not diversifying it's economy were 2 of the major contributors to the downfall of that city. Another thing is the fact that America is trying to be world police and I can't begin to fathom the amount of money leaving America when in reality it should stay in the country to help cities and communities get back on their feet.

      @fenrir3577 10 років тому +3

      If that is how you feel, then why the handle Charles Martel. A man who saved his country from the yoke of Muslim rule. Plus your two statements nothing in common. Diversify your economy means invest in more then one means to make an economy strong. Diversifying your culture does not strengthen your economy. You can not have various forms to solve disputes, that is called anarchy. Rome, Britain, The Ottomans, The Mongols ruled vast Empires with many different people, but there was only one law, one forum for resolving disputes, there was not discussion, there was only the one law of who's empire it was. To say that we can wish away racial or religious tensions, is wishful thinking at its worst.

    • @LeCommensale
      @LeCommensale 10 років тому

      I am glad you know who Charles Martel is, I wish more people did.
      My two statements are separate which is why I put them in separate paragraphs. However, they do have something in common, which is, policies to maintain a prosperous and harmonious society. Obviously diversifying your culture does not necessarily improve your economy, which is why I neither wrote nor meant to imply that. You misunderstood my comment. Next, you incorrectly quoted me as saying "various forms", but what I actually wrote was "various FORUMS." By this I mean different places, NOT LAWS. Of course a jurisdiction should only have one set of laws. Finally, I neither wrote nor meant to imply that "we can wish away racial or religious tensions." Again you have misinterpreted me. Yet, we can still try to reduce or resolve said tensions, although there is very little hope for making peace with islam, the theology of endless violence and intolerance.

    • @fenrir3577
      @fenrir3577 10 років тому +1

      ***** I misspelled forms I meant "Forums". Forums to resolve disputes without the rule of law, just means a lot of talk with no teeth. The only way there will be peace with Islam is if they convert every living soul on the planet or they are wiped from the Earth. That is not meant to be inflammatory. When they speak of peace that is what they mean, that they have converted everyone, its in their book. Western culture did not surpass the Muslim world because we were better at talking in forums or kept better channels of communication open. It was because we were better at making war then they were. That is what beat them back. To offer them peace is to leave yourself open to their response "Piss on your peace." As a veteran of the Balkans I can assure you that there will never be a time without racial or religious tensions. When the minority states we should all drink from the cup of diversity it is either to get votes or as the saying goes, "So the bottom rail can be on top."

      Ok, I get your point somewhat but lets be real here, the demise of Detroit as a wealthy city is not a "Black" but is a very complicated issue that encompasses, unions, work habits, manufacturer modernization or lack of it, Global sourcing, urbanization, poor and corrupt school boards etc etc.

    I am fascinated by Detroit. It is so sad to see those buildings discarded - to me they represent forgotten dreams and lives. It was once such a great city, especially the architecture: Deco and Modernist masterpieces made with the decadence of wealth and optimism. I would love to move there one day and start a business and be part of the renaissance. Respect to the people of Detroit, from London, UK.

      Very sad,
      Many U S cities that once had manufacturing bases are becoming like this. Europe or Canada would never allow this to happen, because they have safety nets and truly care about their citizens. This country is adopting the Ayn Rand philosophy where selfisness is a virtue, and any kind of altruism is to be rejected. The right wing republican conservative base are the worst...all for the corporations, rich and billionaires and to Hell with everyone else...so sad.

      Cat Camp Kwame was one in a long series of crooks. A lot of those crooks were white suburban business men along with the black city ones. The white ones just never got prosecuted. A lot of the decaying buildings were/are owned by wealthy white business men who bought them believing they would be part of some development. When the developments didn't happen they let them rot.

    • @catpurinn

    Amazing, here in Europe those building would allready been broken down and social houses and projects would be build. I am not a left wing voter, but some social projects are really good. (health care/ minimum income/ social security). Problem in the USA is the fighting against that, they always say it's a communist thing, problem is most of the USA people never been to Europe. Here lower class/ middle class and upper class lived mixed.

      Dick Rathcock Bullshit this is the end result of deep tax cuts for the undeserving wealthy, that horrible Taft-Hartley Act, bloated military spending, and horrendously failed supply side/trickle down economics. The republicans are the true culprits of this disaster that is Detroit and Highland Park and now most of the rest of the US. This is thanks to wealthy shareholders who couldn’t get their goddamned fill of money. Stop blaming the workers and the unions, it is the corporate owners who are mostly to blame and they should all be tried and thrown into prison.
