  • 'The Tonight Show' episode from February of 1993. Lucie Arnaz, daughter of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, appears on 'Leno' to promote the NBC special called 'Lucy and Desi, A Home Movie' which she produced along with her husband. It was a documentary showing many of the old color home movies that Lucy and Desi took throughout their marriage, during the 1940s and 1950s. The documentary included many fascinating interviews with people who knew them well and worked with them throughout the years. The 'Home Movie' documentary went on to win an EMMY award that year.
The documentary was very well done and we highly recommend buying a copy. Interested parties might find a copy on eBay or Amazon.

No, she really was not. Her mother was a control freak and distant and couldn't show love to her and Desi Jr. and her father was an alcoholic who, after the divorce, withdrew from life and gambled most of his money away. Plus her mother tainted her attitude towards her father to let her believe he was a loser which he most certainly was not. Watch her interview with Joan RIvers from 1990. She explains all about it.

@@retroguy9494 I'll try to find it if I can but I can't believe she was a control freak but as for Dezi Jr I knew he drank, it was a bad time for him and he couldn't find acting jobs since he was a son of 2 famous people for parents

@@garycarpenter2980 I was referring to Desi Sr. when I said an alcoholic but Desi Jr. inherited his addiction problems from his father. Lucie talks about that in the Joan Rivers interview.
As for Lucille Ball, Lucie talks about her being a control freak in the Rivers interview. She said it served her well having been the first female to head and run a major studio, but as a parent it didn't work.
