@@stevenholmdahl1162 Rick has helped millions of golfers over the years with his thousands of hours of FREE video tutorials and you’re gonna sweat him over showing a practice swing divot? Lol ok
Very helpful, recently tested a few in the simulator and couldn’t hit them for the life of me, I’ve never carried a 3 wood but it’s a huge yardage gap I need to fill for sure
I can't hit off a tee lol, prefer hitting off the deck. Only just started to take my driver the last 18 I played. Usually use 3 wood if its a par 5lol.
Hey man. Great video. However, at the end you didnt make a divot on your actual shot. What you did was perfect. Just bladed the grass, no divot. Clean shot fam
I love this channel; could watch it all day. Went from buying my first set of clubs for 100 dollars at the beginning of the month to hitting my first birdie yesterday! Don't worry, I still got a 64 on the front 9 😂.
For anyone wanting a nice full matching set of clubs, look at your local used sports store! Good for the environment and good for your wallet. Clubs are only 15 years old or so.
I’ve always had an irrational fear of taking a small divot with the fairway woods, always dreaming of a clean 3 wood strike (e.g. “Tin Cup”). It’s good to hear a coach that encourages you to use the club how it’s designed.
God has answered my prayers, I played Saturday and everytime I got my fairway wood out I kept saying “I cant use this club for my life” and here is God uploading a video on what I struggle with the most! THANK YOU RICK!
When i never saw rick video my pitching is sucks then i watched rick pitching video next day i play with my friends they said like ... what the hell happen to you my perform gets improve so yea huge thanks to rick a lot made our golfers life easier
The bigger the divot the ‘better’ the shot, right Rick? Right Rick? Tell me I’m doing it right Rick, please 😭. Hahaha Thanks for the helpful tips! Love my fairway woods. I try to use them any time I can haha.
Ditched the 3wood and now only carry the 5 and 7 woods..fantastic results with both...high launch and great distance of the ground...this lesson is spot on perfect for woods imo
You hit your 3 wood really well when you do these tips, just wondering why you don’t use it as much when you play on the course. Don’t get me wrong Rick, you hit your 2 iron well too, but I like it a lot when you use your fairway woods more often
I've actually noticed that when I hit more down on my fairway wood and take that divot that it doesn't go as much offline as it normally would, and in fact sometimes it carries longer than my driver
In my experience that's because I was setting up the ball too far forward. If you swinged "normally", you would top the ball. Instinctively, to stop topping the ball, I would try and rotate my shoulders and hips early to try and correct the club path with my arms and wrists but that lead to all sorts of inconsistencies and yeah more often than not I would hook or slice the 3 wood because the face was never actually lined properly. Putting the ball closer to middle of stance meant I didn't need to do all the weird shit with my hips and wrists to get the clubface at the right angle when connecting with the ball. it behaved much more like an iron swing.
Do these tips translate to 5 wood as well? I broke 3 wood and haven't gone around to getting a replacement so I've just been hitting my 5 wood everywhere
LOL this video comes after some horrendous wood shanking this weekend. Thanks Rick! The ball too far forward is an obvious issue for me, didn't even think of it.
I started golf this year and 3 Wood is my favorite club with 7 iron. Something just clicks and i get it to work pretty much every time. I have m3 15* and sitting at 26 HCP at the moment. 🙏j
Hey Rick, can you test the Taylormade 'Tour Response' and 'Soft Response' golf balls? I found them pretty nice, but obviously I'm not you😂 Also, can you please review the new Callaway Jaws wedges? They're called the JAWS Full Toe Raw Face wedges, and Pete(Finch) loved them when he reviewed them, but secretly you're more exciting.
I honestly think a lot of amateur golfers would be better with no woods in the bag. Does that two under with only irons ring a bell? How often does the average golfer get a range day? How often do you practice smashing a 250 3 wood shot landing with perfect placement to get you where you need to be in that circumstance? I got new clubs and took my woods out. Driver - Hybrid only besides irons etc. I also only have one hybrid that goes about 220. Now on every par five that I'm brave enough to go for it, I'm a lot more confident with where the shot will go. Never had a par five in my life where I smashed my second shot 220 in the right direction and had a bad score because of it. Had a ton of bad scores with an OB three wood shot.
Yep...I definitely fear this club...until I bought the Sim2 Max to replace my M3...M3 seems tiny compared to the Sim2 Max and I have loads more confidence hitting the ball on the ground. And, oddly enough, my swing hasn't changed but I hit the ball straighter and further.
Your videos have helped so much over the last 2 years. Gone from half in the high 90's half in the low 100s to breaking 90 finally this year and averaging in the low 90s. Even recently shot an 83 with a double par on the last hole! That was frustrating but amazing at same time. Keep doing what you're doing Rick. Love the simplicity and production value of your videos
Fair is fair(way), at the end, the slowmo replay shows the sternum quite some distance behind the ball, hitting upwards. Rick pulls that off, everytime I do that, I leave ball-sized impressions in the ground, 2 inches behind where the ball was. My fear of driving my hybrid into the ground amd break it always wins, causing me to tilt backwards or fall for the old chickenwings reflex... Still a big fan of Rick!
Hey Rick-have a cobra f7 but black.I noticed it stayed in your bag for a few years. It provided me with real world advice that you loved it.It was good enough for me!Ive dropped my handicap by 5 strokes mainly because of that club. Thanks Rick -I owe you a pint!
Rick, I have a Ping G425 3 wood with an adjustable head. I currently have it set to neutral and I’m averaging roughly 8 degrees of launch when I hit it. In order to land softer onto long par 5’s and 4’s, what should be an optimum launch angle when I hit my 3 wood? Thanks from the States
I actually just play a Ping G425 5 wood turned down to 16*. It works really well off the tee and the ground for me. Can’t hit a 3 wood to save my life. 🤣🤣🤣
The video I have been needing!!! Now can you talk about drills for the 50-70yd shot please?? Because when I do connect the 3 wood off the deck it usually puts me in the dreaded 60 yard range.
What the heck! I unsubscribed from this channel and click the dislike button but youtube still recommended this video! The algorithm is broken. Long, boring content and just say the same point over and over again! Boring

What degree is your 3 wood?
If you have a chance, test 2021 Callaway Super Hybrid, please.
I am wondering how it is good, bad or so so.
Is it bad I was hoping you were going to top this again? 🤣
I've learned so much from this man... glad I found him. I really needed the help... you rock rick
Rick...what about someone who can smash it off the fairway straight....but cant hit a driver straight?
Hmmmm...that divot was the heavy practice swing Rick. The actual shot was to the right of that and it just brushed the surface.
Came here to say this.
@@kylesala6507 same lol

I fear life without your comments 🙌
Same lol my game has improved so much with these videos

Omg same LOL
That’s exactly what I was doing last weekend. Went from hating my 3 to loving it. Tons of net time in my back yard.
Well done Rick I've been having trouble with my 3 wood, ill try it
Man, that ball position on the tee vs the deck was very key for me. Was crushing my 3-wood today off that advice…
Great advise hitting down on it and not helping the ball in the air.
This is a great tip , thank you ! Would you use these same tips when hitting rescue clubs as well ?
My absolute favorite club
Another energetic video Rick! Always enjoy your content and enthusiasm in their presentation! Keep up the good work!!!!
Great vid! Thanks , this has it explained so well
Very helpful, recently tested a few in the simulator and couldn’t hit them for the life of me, I’ve never carried a 3 wood but it’s a huge yardage gap I need to fill for sure
My toughest shot has always been to hit a wood off the deck. Mostly mental I think. This definitely helps. Thanks Rick.
Little fib on the "divot" at the end there Rick.
Another great golfing tip. That divot was from the practice swing though
I've been hitting my 3wood off the fairways better than ever these last few weeks 👍
Another amazing vid. Your tips have really helped me! Love the reviews too. 👏🏻
Is the back swing the same with the fairway woods as you described with the driver? More around the body and baseball-y versus the high up and down?
I wish I could hit it like Rick
whats the difference using a wood 3 and hybrid 3 ....for a beginner? is it better to forget about 4 wood and just use hybrid 3?
Top vid Rick 👌. I dont carry a driver because I just gave up trying 😂
Rick sometimes I hit my fairway wood longer than my driver from the tee box, can you do a video with that topic pls
bro thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Hi Rick
Hi rick
Hey Rick I can crush my 3wood 275-290 off the tee but struggle to get my driver past 250 even for what seems like a good strike. What’s going on here?
Lol Rick .... you didn't take a divot on that sweet sweet shot, you took that on your first practice swing :)
I hope you are ok Rick
Theres nothing better than needing a poo only to find a new rick vid has dropped!!!
My 3 wood has got to be one of the fastest spinning 3 woods ever. I don't like it because it really blades into the ground if you hit it too low
I can't hit off a tee lol, prefer hitting off the deck. Only just started to take my driver the last 18 I played. Usually use 3 wood if its a par 5lol.
If I pretend I'm hitting a 7-iron and have that thought in my head, I hit my woods fine, so this tip makes sense.
divot for 3 wood is behind the ball but divot for iron is in front of the ball?
I hit mine way farer then my driver lol 5 wood is my go to club
Nothing impresses me more than watching someone confidently hitting their 3w from the middle of the fairway
Hey man. Great video. However, at the end you didnt make a divot on your actual shot. What you did was perfect. Just bladed the grass, no divot. Clean shot fam
Anyone else see the ghost in the trees at 1:33?
I don’t have a wood but I have hybrid I can’t hit it so I don’t bother buying and wood cause I figure it was just the same as hybrid
1:33 British Yeti confirmed
Tbh my woods are the best part of my game
love the videos but that divert is deffo not where you took the shot from :D
Cant wait for the driver draw coming up....praying.
three more days.
You must’ve read my mind Rick
I don't struggle to hit my fairway wood from the fairway. I don't ever have that option
LOVE that "Old Bluey" made it into the cgi animations! That club is legend among the RS faithful.
I found an "Old Bluey" and bought it just for fun and it swings faster than my other 3 wood. They're hard to find.
I love this channel; could watch it all day. Went from buying my first set of clubs for 100 dollars at the beginning of the month to hitting my first birdie yesterday! Don't worry, I still got a 64 on the front 9 😂.

I do the same thing. I believe I'm using my iron swing with a wood. As long as I hit the ball first the shot is usually acceptable! Cheer's
Ditched the 3wood and now only carry the 5 and 7 woods..fantastic results with both...high launch and great distance of the ground...this lesson is spot on perfect for woods imo
A lot of people hit 3 wood and 5 wood the same distance
Great video. Video suggestion: why some golfers use a 5-wood or a 7-wood.

Yes. This advice is for all fairway woods, not just the 3 wood.
sesh 2 min ago
I definitely needed this yesterday. I topped my 3 wood so bad it popped directly up to eye level and it landed in the divot that I had just made
that's nothing. I once topped an iron so bad I had to dig the ball up.
You made sure to say that you were going for a trick shot, right?
I wish I’d have said it was a trick shot
buy a 3 hybrid and call it a day.
Or a 2 hybrid if you're looking for distance and loft comparable to a 3 or 4 wood.
It's amazing how much thinner 3 wood heads are now than they used to be, they almost look like hybrids now.
We need a miura review.
Thanks Rick, I'll have to try this next time I'm out. :D
Love this video. I struggle with the woods and hybrids off the ground

Rick,
Thanks. I have struggled with my 3 wood in the fairway. This lesson should help. I've been trying to sweep the shot too much. Peter
