I have a budgie and he absolutely hates me he’s a real softy on the inside but never shows it I did everything you said, it kinda worked? He just lands on my face instead of my hand =w=
Well maybe getting a budgie isn’t good for you I mean I’ve had a canarie but I’ve never seen why to hold little birds like canaries and budgies just get a normal parrot and if you don’t want to spend too much money get a Lorikeet or cockatiel I got a lutino Lorikeet for 1000+$
I have two buddies and one hates coming out of the cage but can shake your hand and wave like a boss wail the other is my best bud and has known recall for a long time dose well with harnesses and just loves to chill budgies are good birds and take awhile to warm up to people (both buddies hate and are scared of my family though XD)
You can do it in a easy way.If your bird is handtamed so how can you fly tame a bird take his favourite treat and hold it in your hand and say him/her come on come on call his or her name and when he or she flies to you give it a treat then do this everyday.
I would recommend bringing the millet farther behind your hand, so the bird will have to step on your hand, then have to extend his neck to get the millet.

@@matthewkilpatrick5533 Every word Matthew, every word. So grateful to have been able to find him! It's so very important that our birds know how to fly to down to us. After that, I started taking him to the basketball court at my church. He loved it! He flew 20 laps most days. At first, he would just land on my arm, or my husband's outstretched arm across the court. Back and fourth, back and fourth. Then he started circling several times before landing on us. Then, as his wings grew stronger, he could fly longer and longer. Then he started landing up on the hoop or the backstop. That's when I was able to start teaching him to come down. It took awhile, but started with millet, but still no instant fly down, so I popped a bowl of popcorn, that's his favorite thing to do, is sit in a bowl of popcorn. He saw his bowl, and flew down immediately. From then on, no problem getting him down from the basket ball lights, rigging, or hoop. He was the BEST BIRD IN THE WORLD! ❤

You didn’t really explain how to start saying, “ducky come” instead of, “step up” so how do you gradually start saying for them to come instead of step up?
I’m assuming it’s just over time, it is different than saying step up when your in front of them and Ducky come when they’re a tad farther than that. I don’t have a bird so don’t entirely trust me, but I have been doing research to get a pigeon as a pet.
Ducky looks so pretty when in flight! That’s why you shouldn’t clip wings. In my opinion, clipping wings can take away freedom and happiness. Birds aren’t domesticated animals. Anyway, keep up the great work! Love your vids! (Your birds are lucky to have you!)
i know how ducky was born, SHE CAME OUT OF A PIKACHU BALL!!! u see those ADORABLE cheeks!!!!! @Elle and the birds - Thank you so much for these very helpful videos! Our birds thank you too since it's nice for their humans to learn how to handle them. 😊 Much appreciated!
Ducky's so compliant and smart!! I'm trying to train my conure right now, and she's just not having it. She won't even step up on command, which she usually does without a problem. She's probably just hormonal, but it can be frustrating when she gets in a mood like this, lol!
Hey! Need some help - doing this with my ringneck. She's going so well so far - except she won't hop she only tries to grab my hand with her beak and pull herself over. She's too nervous to fly. She had her wings clipped over 6 weeks ago. How do I get her to hop over?
Be patient and she’ll get there, when her wings grow back she will gain confidence. Work on walking recall for now and make the gap bigger very slowly. Good luck 💜

How long does the process generally take? I just bought an 8 week old cockatiel ( lovingly named him barnelby, funny I know) and my last bird was actually a blue fronted Amazon, but this little guy is so sweet, let’s me handle him and pet him with zero complaint and never once tried biting me. Truly blessed with his calm demeanor. I’m starting to think HE is actually a SHE with how quiet he’s been. But he’s still new to his surroundings so that could be why he’s quiet (only had him for two days, but he’s been a fun little addition to the family, and he flies and I encourage it. Anyway just curious to know how long it takes (generally) for a young cockatiel to grasp this

I’m assuming it’s just over time, it is different than saying step up when your in front of them and Ducky come when they’re a tad farther than that. I don’t have a bird so don’t entirely trust me, but I have been doing research to get a pigeon as a pet.
Yknow you could just keep saying step up...
Thank you so much for the content you're creating! It helps me and others so much! ❤️
An excellent step by step teaching video and what an enthusiastic assistant you have! (Ducky!😄👍💕)
Thanks so much! 😊
Ducky is such an awesome flyer
Thanks for the video😄 nearly 600 subs🤗
Np, thank you! 😄 yay!!
Now it is 1.59 Lakh subscribers congratulations 🥳
Ducky looks so pretty when in flight! That’s why you shouldn’t clip wings. In my opinion, clipping wings can take away freedom and happiness. Birds aren’t domesticated animals. Anyway, keep up the great work! Love your vids! (Your birds are lucky to have you!)
I totally agree! Thank you!
Live Laugh Birds np! I love your videos!
Elle: **talking and looking at the camera**
Ducky: **sees millet** “Target spotted”
I taught my bird to do this it totally works thank u so much for this video
i know how ducky was born, SHE CAME OUT OF A PIKACHU BALL!!! u see those ADORABLE cheeks!!!!! Also i love u and ur birds. i used to have a parrot but he had his wings clipped as a baby, he was still tame but he would just turn and bite u and ouch he hurt... now i have 2 budgies, an albino (just like pearl) but she is called Angel and she is really tame because of ur vids so a great big THANK YOU
Young lady, you sure know birds! I enjoy your videos and I'm learning a lot!😊
Awe, Ducky waved goodbye! Great training tips. I'm definitely going to be doing this with my budgies. Tico loves to fly to the curtain rod. I have a heck of time getting her down. I'm going to call you the bird whisperer! 😄 Thank you! And Ducky!❤🐥
I’m so glad this video could help you! Thank you so much. Haha 😂❤️

She's probably just hormonal, but it can be frustrating when she gets in a mood like this, lol!
wow, this works. Every time I say HOP my cat starts flying.
I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR YOUR VIDEOS. THANK YOU.
Good luck 💜
@@ElleAndTheBirds thank you! she's much better now
I know that this is from a year ago but this is so helpful because I am about to get a bird but I wanted to do some research first. Thank you for making this video🙌🏼

I AM A HUGE FAN!!!!!
Can you teach us how to get your bird to notice that there is a seed on your hand-
My budgies don’t see it
Edit: One of my budgies is named Micah, and she knows how to fly down to me. I never taught her, it’s just when she goes some where high, I make a fist at her a say, ‘MICAH GET DOWN HERE!’
Feed it to them first
You can use fruits as a training treat!
Thank you so much for teaching us they’re picking that I am going to get a break soon and I’m going to watch all of your videos to treat my bed just like you treat your pet birds

I have a suncouner he’s a very smart one I’ve always wanted a bird but now I’m gonna teach him! Thanks to you after the virus I will teach him!
You are best bird trainer in the world, your video is Amazing👍👍
How long does the process generally take? I just bought an 8 week old cockatiel ( lovingly named him barnelby, funny I know) and my last bird was actually a blue fronted Amazon, but this little guy is so sweet, let’s me handle him and pet him with zero complaint and never once tried biting me. Truly blessed with his calm demeanor. I’m starting to think HE is actually a SHE with how quiet he’s been. But he’s still new to his surroundings so that could be why he’s quiet (only had him for two days, but he’s been a fun little addition to the family, and he flies and I encourage it. Anyway just curious to know how long it takes (generally) for a young cockatiel to grasp this
congrats for the 100,000 subs
