My 2 months old cockatiel learned to fly to me in half a day. His wings were clipped (3 feathers were cut short on each side) but he can still fly. He is really smart and learns fast.
This was very helpful, I'm still in the process of getting my budgie conformable on my hand but once he is I'll be sure to train him recall. He's already learnt target training, spin and to shake my finger so I don't think he'll find it too difficult :) would you be able to do a video on how to get your bird onto pellets? Bill has started to eat his veg consistently now but won't touch his pellets :(
Hi Mary, I'm so glad you found it helpful! Yes, I will definitely create a video on transitioning over to a pellet diet! And sounds like Bill is a smart little birdie, excited for him to learn recall, it's going to be super fun for the both of you!
This is one of the best videos i have found for flight training birds. I never even thought about training my bird to fly back to the perch or around corners. Another helpful thing would be to teach your bird how to fly into their cage because i know my bird has struggled to do that.
my bird came clipped, and now, she only has a few more clipped feathers that she needs to grow back, and can fly almost all over the place. she’s been flying into high places like the curtain rod and some hanging lights and not knowing how to get down, so i’ve started teaching her to come to me on command. this video is easy to follow and memorize.
gonna flight train my bird rn, he’s been clipped when i got him and i’ve been waiting for him to grow his flight wings now and it’s been 11 months now and he should be able to fly hopefully
My conure is growing his in too, he’s getting better like he can fly up now a little bit and farther distances but he still has some growing to do. He can only fly when he jumps off of his cage since it gives him a good drop but I’m excited for him to actually learn to fly since he keeps flying onto the floor and screams for me to pick him up lol
@Gissell Gomez - Oh my goodness, it took 11 months for the flight feathers to grow back? :( I got my budgie (recently) at a Petco and I asked how long it would take for his feathers to grow and the employee (who obviously really didn't know) told me it would take one month. I knew that wasn't true because I had researched enough to know that the feathers take a while to re-grow. I was thinking it might be more like 3 months or so. Yikes! I can tell that being clipped is making him even more scared to leave his cage :(.
@@ESLteacher62 sorry this is probably super late but itll probably take 2-4 months for your budgie to regrow their wings ! obviously, the bigger the bird the longer it takes because its longer feathers, yknow? i hope your lil bird is doing better now!
My quakers are 8 weeks old and have been flying for about 2 weeks. 1 got out and it took several hours to get her to come back. I'm so glad I found your channel and I will definitely be flight training my girls!
I had a female conure named Lola for 9 years from age 9 to age 18 she was the sweetest and mix most moody little lady. I am learning so much from your channel and it is making me realize that doing basic research wasn’t enough and that I needed to do more. Lola passed away from the Smokey air during the wildfires in Oregon last year but since then I did more research and also got employed so I could provide more for my pets and I ended up buying a little sun conure in March this year and I named him Frankie he’s a sweet spastic guy I love him to death! He is my best friend and I am learning so much from your videos about toys and foraging and training it is so helpful! My boy is still growing in his flight wings but I will be coming back to your channel for sure once he grows in his wings!! I just wanted to say Thankyou because even though I have more knowledge than when I had my previous bird there is always more to learn and I’m just so thankful I came across your channel! I hope you and your birdies have a wonderful day or night and I thank you all for showing talent and demonstrating tricks and tips for us all!
You do very good job with your channel!!this days I watch many of your videos and you helped me a lot..this Monday I will get my green cheek conure (cinnamon) and I prepare myself with your advices..(sorry for my low level English 😊 and greetings from Greece 🇬🇷)

Great tutorial thank you. I have a patagonian conure less than 2 years old. Tamed but not trained. I've had him for a couple of weeks and I'm starting formal recall training as of today.
We are enjoying training our new crimson bellied conure, with your help...thank you!...we have her on a healthy diet, no seeds in the cage...my question is, when we are training and using a mix of millet/sunflower/safflower how much is too much? I see you are using lots of seeds in this video...how much would you get through in a training session? Thanks
I'm certainly going to try this method. When my GCC was very young, he's 2 now... he would come to me when I called. Now he tends to come when he wants to or if he wants some fuss. I know he loves sunflower seeds 😄
i hope you start uploading videos again :( im a new bird owner and your videos have been so helpful! i hope you and your birds are doing great! thank you for the videos!
@@saifworld1576 @Saif world15 thank you! my birds are gcc so they would probably enjoy something like some millet, safflower or sunflower seeds, although been wanting to use the healthiest since i feel like during training i give them way too many treats (they eat them SO quickly) and i dont want to fatten them up, im not sure which of the three is the best for them to have large quantities of though
Wow that's real good thank you I'm thinking of getting a parrot for a first bird in a couple of months to for a company bird as quite lonely . If you have any suggestions on a colourful parrot that is less noisy (not that that matters) please reply.
Your videos are the best, im getting a little collared dove tomorrow that i rescued, it lost one of its eyes unfortunately so that's why i decided to keep it. It's still very young and otherwise healthy and lively now that it got treatment. I'm a little nervous, ofc im not expecting it to behave like a more common pet bird, but I'm hoping it will at least eat from my hand one day! But I'm so scared of not taking care if it properly :(

try putting your index finger and middle finger pointing towards your bird and make them walk across the two fingers very very slowly increase the gap each time it worked with my tiel
yes that is a wonderful idea! definitely try increasing the gap a little at a time, you could also try switching up the treats too to something he absolutely LOVES and use it when he needs to make that hop

We don't have bird pellets in our country I feed then chop 3 times and they eat seeds the other days (I have 2 lovebirds ) is it healthy ?
Hi. Do you give Pineapple a verbal cue to come to you?'Come' or 'fly' etc.?
I have been wanting a birdie, but of course I am waiting a while. How much should a bird eat day?? + how many times a day
I will use this. My conure can't fly on command, only when she is scared. She flies well but hopefully on command soon.
