This is such an important training! I try to do this with my budgies daily (few minutes at least) I often recall them to my hand high up and low down so they practice ascending and descending. Sometimes they are a bit hesitant about it. I want to get some twigs (once bird flu is lesser problem) and try to train them flying through and around twiggy obstacles
What an exact timing! I have a 6 week old baby tiel weening right now and she flies! Flies to me a lot when I’m mixing the formula in a bowl haha. I’ve been getting her to land on my finger a few times! Thanks for this video!
Thanks for this very helpful video! Twigs wings are growing in from his last owner trimming them and I'm going to start working with him on flying. I appreciate you and Sophie!
This has been very helpful for me. My biggest problem is Pete doesn’t want to go back in his cage even with a treat. Do they go through a stage where they don’t want to cooperate with you? Thanks for all the help.
When hormonal or during the "terrible 2's" parrots can be more difficult, but there's usually other reasons behind this kind of thing. It'd be worth looking at Pete's diet, if you're using the most motivating treat, if you're letting him in and out and doing training around the cage and if it's a good experience for him!
Thanks for your reply. Today he has been really contrary. He hardly wanted to do any training like targeting or recall. I’m frustrated tonight. But I’ll start over. I feed him everything you said. He has a comfortable cage in the right place like Sophie said. Argh!
I'm more interested in how to stop my tiel from flying to and sitting on top of my head the second I step in to the room 😂It's either giving him kisses while he is sitting on my finger or he will fly to sit on my head. And he's not discouraged by taking him off!
Great recall training video, I've been following you for a while and always so helpful. I have a GCC Pineapple mutation, she's just over a year now. Do you guys ever do harness training? Would love to see a video on that, I am currently harness training but it is a lot of work!
Thank you! We do, but honestly we don't have as much time as we'd like to do it! All of our little guys are rescues so harness training is a tough sell to them. Scampi is our best prospect for it though. We have considered doing a video loads of times, but we don't want it to be like all the others on UA-cam (get them to put head in then viola it's done!) It definitely is loads of work! But keep at it!
Hey Will, That'd depend on how the conures get on and how big the cage is! If it's an aviary you could keep a fair few together. If it's a large cage I'd say no more than two. If it's a huge one 3-4.
I feel like a Disney princess when the birds fly to me! 👸🏼
If only they had powers like in the movies too!
@@TheParrotTeacherit wouldn’t be horrible if my bird fetched all my item to me when I wake up
This is great! So much awesome advice jam packed into a video to get people started without overloading with info.
Thank you, very kind of you to say ❤️

Thank you! It's such a good idea to do it daily and keep it fresh for them. That also sounds awesome, it'd be so enriching and good exercise for them!
Execelente dia
Thank you!
Amazing video!!

I like watching these with my birdie because she talks to your birdies hehe
Very cute!

Sounds good! Hopefully he will get into the swing of it and have lots of fun flying about with you!
Please can we have a video on what a treat test looks like for a green cheek conure!
Hey there,
It should be on the end screen + cards but here's a direct link: ua-cam.com/video/eGDSsu8UYe8/v-deo.html
Lk 👍 my Teacher
Many many thanks

Could be worth putting more reinforcement into being on your hand! Treat wise and attention wise!

My oldie doesn’t fly! Could it be beneficial to work with him on recall to my hand by walking across something?
Starting off with step up, small hops or encouraging them to come to you from distance across a surface are all fine!
How many conures can you keep in the same cage if big enough
Hey Will,

What age is it best to start this ? I’m really looking forward to train my sun conure baby how to do it :)
When they can fly they can be trained! You can start the hops quite early on!
Thanks man !
Hey bro where did you get that poster in the background I want to get something like that of my bird
They are from Pokepets. If you search that I have a review video that should have a link to their store!
