    GREAT job on both parts of this trans fluid and filter change; along with new lines! You're very informative and fun to watch. You NEVER loose your cool always flowing with whatever comes your way.

    For future reference, the bit about ATF-4 was actually a service bulletin _after_ the warranty on all AW4s had expired, and many XJ owners steer clear of it. Next time you change the fluid I highly recommend using Royal Purple's MAX ATF instead. My XJ went from awful long sloppy shifts to being so tight and quick you'd think it had a rebuild.
    Otherwise, I'd absolutely stick with Dex 3 instead of ATF-4 as per the manufacturer requirements and not Chrysler's bad advice. Just don't switch if you're only draining the pan as ATF-4 and dex/merc should never be combined and will damage the tranny. Find a shop that has the machine that uses the transmission's own pump to flush the fluid and not compressed air.
    I also made the mistake of using ATF4 so I just wanted to share my experience. Cheers! ✌️

    I like the way you JEEP! I do the same! This summer, from headliner to bearings, ball joints, to bearings all around to headlights w/markers, and refinishing the wheels(be sides refurbishing the bumpers and tow hitch,along with pumpkin covers painted in red), I also painted the grill in black with red inserts! It's a gray(silver) 5.2 ZJ unlimited. Now still looking for 242, for my conversion. Oh yeah, and them bump stops for the rear!!! I do like the way you "JEEEEEEEP"!

    Great job Dan and the Jeep is looking good!-I'm about to do the same on my 2000xj-and was wondering why you bought so many O-rings?-How many and what size go on or in the dipstick tube-you never showed or said?--and do you not have to put an O-ring on the end of the lines after the plastic locks-before you push them into the connectors 800-714??--or just the clip only??-thanks in advance and keep up the great videos 👍

    Whats up man! Question: is it true about atf+4 not recommended for AW4 trannies? I have a 98 xj classic and looking to do the same thing as you here. But the forums has this heated battle between atf+4 and dex/merc. Do you know why that's is? I see your running ATF+4 and just wondering if it's the right move, thanks man, strong island!

    good video friend, just one question? I understand that if you change the transmission oil for new oil, the transmission starts to neutralize. I would like to know if this is just a myth or if it is true. Greetings from ZONA HOSTIL OFFROAD I hope you could answer my question .... and mention me in one of your videos answering this question I have.

    Great video Dan. My 93 Cherokee sport has the AW4 tranny as well, but the manual states Dexron 2, ( I used 3) I see you are using ATF plus and at 11:47 you show the write-up, got me a little concerned. Do you know anything about that difference ?? Thanks again for sharing (GREAT video).

    • @ProjectDanH
      @ProjectDanH  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks buddy, I use a 2001 factory service manual. I think older Cherokee AW4s used Dex. I believe Chrysler developed the ATF as a universal fluid that's good for all Chrysler vehicles. ATF4 is just an improvement.

      8:23 , the blue decoupler. You Definitely need em to remove the trans lines from the radiator... the cheep plastic ones may work, but if its been on there for 20 years it will probably be stuck and require the metal ones from the kit. They are a B!!!
