This is excellent demonstration of doosra. I am Partha Basu, father of Meghdeep Basu who is working on doosra and you had commented on his bowling. Your comment is Meghdeep's inspiration. Now would like to ask you to make a video precisely on the fare bowling definition. Because I have observed that lot of people even some coaches have mis-conception on it. They think that the bowling with bended elbow is illegal. They have no ideas on chucking and chucking illusion. So I request you to make a video and enlighten us.

Sir, I would like to acknowledge the fact there are only few genuine videos on technicalities and biomechanics of doosra like you. Your doosra episodes from Part 1 to 4 are something special that set aparts from other doosra videos.
Ever since I have also tried bowling doosra. Sometimes the ball leaves the right hand batsman and sometimes goes like offbreak. So my doosra is not consistent. Probably, this is because my wrist collapses at the time of release or may be my wrist is not strong enough. So kindly make a video on a paticular drill to maintain wrist position to avoid collapsing of wrist and to enhance wrist strength to deliver doosra with energy behind the ball

I have been thinking of now doing a VERY detailed video on the doosra as what I presented are the basics but what I can now produce are things like angles of run-up, timing of release, wrist position on release and how it affects the angle of delivery.

Fascinating stuff. I wish I had known all this 40 years ago! My Public School chums at Magdalen College School in Oxford may have taken me a bit more seriously! All I could manage as a right arm off spinner was to pitch the ball just outside leg, and it miissed off stump just over the bails. I was very proud of that ball, especially as it was to one of my teachers, and he didn't know as a left hander what was going on!

I remember when the umpire Emerson called no balls on Murali in Australia bowling off spin. Then he bowled leg spin and Emerson tried no balling him again!! Crazy!!
Yep. Murali extended his arm 11 degree in test. Glenn McGrath was 14 degree 🧐

How do you spin the doosra? What fingers are used? I saw saqulin’s interview how does he make it spin with his ring and index finger. I am trying with a tennis ball but can’t make it spin from long distances. Is there something you can recommend?

love the video and amazing explanation. That being said, not convinced that your doora would have been deemed legal. Do you have any evidence that the delivery you are showing at 15.20 mark is legal and if sent in a lab, would be deemed legal?

Start by standing in one place and throwing the ball with that action. As you have more control over the direction of spin then slowly straighten your arm.
Hello, isn't there a more orthodox way to bawl the doosra? How about saqlain mushtaq's action? Would you be able to explain the fingers positioning from him? The reason why both kaushal and ajmal had unorthodox actions which is nearly impossible to learn from them. And mushtaq seems pretty solid with his action but don't know exactly because there are no clear footages him bawling doosra in youtube. I know it's a lot to ask but if you could just teach how orthodox finger positioning and turning could be, it'll be really great

With their left arm
The easiest way to bowl a doosra is a back spinner which only nathan lyon does occasionally. Just rotate the ball the opposite side like a leg cutter.
You may as well say, the easiest way to bowl a doosra is to bowl a leg spinner.
@@How2PlayCricket leg spinner is easy to read a leg cutter u cant read as the arm is the same. Both Ashwin & Lyon use this Ash also uses carrom ball which is also a similar concept
@@ShubhamGuptatheincidence I think a leg cutter and the off spinner are very easy to pic but then again Sunil Narine does it with great effectiveness.
@@How2PlayCricket yeah exactly Narine also does it well. I have had much success myself with it. At the end of the day, the ball needs to spin the other way without looking obvious. Off Cutters & Leg Cutters are basically spin balls at a quicker pace. Daniel Vettori, Lyon, Harbhajan post ban also did it btw

I can bowl till 16th yard but after than why I can't?
There is a number of reasons. The main one is the wrist breaking because the further you bowl the more effort you have to make which forces your wrist to break. This is actually a very good idea for another video.

Hi, Left arm spinners have the advantage of bowling the ball spinning away from the bat already and most batsman are right handers. With this massive advantage and with the rough to use going around the wicket, I don't think they think they need a doosra. Mostly left arm bowlers have a round arm action to create extra turn. With a round arm action, it's very hard to bowl the doosra.

@@coolbuddy7660 yes. I find it easier getting on my tip toes. This method works best with the Ajmal action.
I can bow the doosra legally and have two variations. My action has never been questioned because you can bowl it without bending the arm. Two much focus on how much flex etc. If you want to learn how to bowl the doosra keep practising and you will develop it legally and within the parameters without ever been questioned.
I do bowl it legally within the law. May be you don't know the rules still. Having a bend in the arm is legal. It's extending the arm which is illegal. Hope that explains it better.
@@How2PlayCricket you should encourage and coach spin bowlers to bowl without a bent arm so they can bowl effectively and don’t have any issues with their action or certain deliveries are questioned in the future. You don’t need a bent arm or a questionable action to bowl a doosra. Simple straightforward coaching and a good arm ball with subtle variations can be effective at any level with the right mindset.
@@drtruth5354 If some one wants to bowl an arm ball then bowl an arm ball. If some one wants to be a 800 test wicket cricketer then they can bowl the doosra. If you can show me a doosra or any spinner who bowls with a 0 degree bend then please show me. Every bowler has 9 degree bend and flex is more than that. This is what ICC have said, so please don't say straight arm like that exist and don't if you know about the human body, when you rotate your wrist your muscles contract so you will get a natural bend in the arm. Would you tell Rashid Khan too not bend his arm and bowl the leggie, no you wont.
