I really would like an English or spanish version of this video, I have an old Dell Laptop keyboard and I'd like to convert it, but I don't really know much about electronic :c Anyway.... I loved this video, the music makes it calm.
Hi bubs. For English i recommend googling Frank Adams instructables. I translated it but still don't understand... Also subtitles don't match what he's saying Transcript:10 year old laptop at home once opened, everything is stuck in PPT. (think this meant everything had got stuck with error messages) But laptop components can be repurposed, eg keyboard into pc keyboard. Touch pad can also be repurposed. Let's make membrane keyboard from rubbish. You can see after I took out the keyboard, I didn't take off the socket/cable? , for now I don't need to, put it aside and follow up testing the matrix. Then I soldered on the motherboard cable, to make testing easier. You don't need a multi meter for testing, you just need a battery, an LED. If you don't have a multi meter you can use this, very easy to use. You can see my keyboard has 25 traces, so the wiring order goes 1-2,1-3,1-4 and so on to 1-25 then 2-1,2-2,2-3 etc. Keep notes of this. I'm using teensy 2++ board, I can't use Pro micro because they keyboard has too many traces? Since there are many IO, you can use them to add OLED and RGB. According to the wiring diagram, I'm using? rows and columns? So I only need to solder 8 diodes. From c0 to c7 make sure the 8 diode is the right orientation. After soldering all we can open keyboard layout editor and generate 8 row 17 column. After generating keyboard, no need to fill in key values go straight to raw data and copy and paste the data. Then open and copy and paste into import, then you can see this, and then make sure matrix is correct and then revise scanning method, fixing earlier rows and columns?? Go to pins section, according to earlier obtained order fix the IO openings. Next step enter key map, here assign keyboard key values according to your needs. In the settings label, set bootloader size, then keyboard name according to the size? After finishing these, save it so you can edit it later easily. In the last compile section, you can download source code and compiled firmware. Firmware can be tested immediately, source code can be edited to add extra features like custom OLED screen and RGB. After loading firmware you can test it. After testing you can make the outer case.
@@danielmussard2006 hey buddy, you can use OCR to recognize the Chinese subtitle but it's not perfect of reference value. It's what he said that matters, as what he said you can use voice recognition(Chinese)get text content then translate it. I'm a warm hearted China student. Good luck!
I am indian. Bro please add English subtitles and add your social media account like instagram so that we can contact you. You have done a wonderful job. This is exact method I am looking for. I don't have any knowledge with hardware but I can understand the basic operation. No one has done this method till now in UA-cam. I have old laptop(asus s301la) which I want to dismantle and use it's parts for different purposes. So please do a video so that everyone across globe can understand. You will have wonderful feature in UA-cam if you do videos for all countries.

I love old laptop's keyboards. I always wished to somehow make one work through USB so I can keep typing on it on my modern computer.
Can this also be done for the "TrackPoint"? I'm thinking of doing a similar conversion done on a ThinkPad laptop keyboard.
Please, translate video!!! I have a laptop keyboard and also want to make it standalone bluetooth keyboard.

Por la misma razón que lo tengo en español,i guess.
