People are surprised by the lack of emotion by the son, but I think it was him holding it together. Some people are REALLY good under pressure, and he probably knew this wasn’t the time to panic. He gathered himself and passed on all necessary evidence…. Admirable imo. I would try and do the same thing for my mom

That and sometimes it takes a bit to set in. When I was told my only child was dead, I didn't immediately go into tears. It took 10 or 15 minutes at least. I know I called my mom and told her without shedding a tear. It was sometime after that when I finally lost it.
It's been 8 yrs and I still haven't found it. For the first 5+ yrs, I cried every single day. Every. Single. Day. Most mornings, I'd wake up bawling my eyes out. But yea. It can take a few minutes to finally set in.

This is a really good point that I didn't even think about. It really was very dangerous of her to threaten to call the cops. There's a woman missing who lives right next to her and she thinks the best thing to do is to threaten the potential perpetrator. I'm not sure what she hoped her threat would do. If she really thought that he was lying about something, what could she have thought had actually happened to Judy? That Judy was away on a long secret vacation? And that her threatening to call the police would make him suddenly reveal this? I just don't see how this could have ever ended well for her. I don't think she was thinking that either. I guess we'll never know exactly why she chose to confront him but hopefully others can learn from this.

Easiest explanation I've found is it's like the flu and when we have the flu, there's that common saying like, "I'd give anything for this to be over" but unlike the flu, there is something you can easily buy for drug withdrawals. Alot of people appear to think addiction is only mental and that people could stop any time. They disregard the way our bodies adapt to anything and it feels pretty rough after it's acclimated to deal with some crap you're adding to it then it's suddenly gone, at some points reaching 'the worst flu you've ever had' levels.

Sadly, it took governmental controls to force smokers to cease from inflicting their noxious "pleasure" on everyone else. In the early 90s, it was impossible to enjoy a meal in a restaurant without being subjected to cigarette smoke. "Non-smoking" areas were a joke, and [some] smokers were so entitled that they ignored even THOSE small inconveniences. Before I get attacked, I should mention that I was a smoker for almost 20 years, and became annoyed with the stupid comments of non-smoking "zealots" while I enjoyed my smokes in taverns etc. Although I never lit up while sitting (walking, driving, etc) with people who did not smoke, I would fiercely defend my rights within areas designated for smokers (at that time; anywhere public).

As a recovering heroin addict, I can say this guy has DEFINITELY used that day, unlike what he said earlier. He'd be crawling out of his skin by the time they even got him to the interrogation room. Arresting and processing someone is not a quick process. If this guy is a daily user, he'd be sick the moment he wakes up in the morning, and using is the first thing he'd do.

But what I do know, as someone who used heroin IV for years, he would be visibly sick by then if he hadn't actually used. Well, beyond keeping them warm in a cold room (which as I'm sure you know in many cases is intentional; detectives do a lot of things to make suspects uncomfortable or just to throw them off) they likely use wrapping up in a blanket as a self-soothing ritual. It's often the last feeling they might have of being cozy, feeling "home," being hugged (as mentioned above) and feeling safe.
I'm sure I'm being captain obvious here but that's just my interpretation. But psychopaths, they are already cold. They don't need a blanket.
