- Not my typical crochet market prep vlog, the Thompson fire destroyed 13 homes and damaged many others. I am so grateful to Cal Fire and our community for working so hard to keep people safe.

I panicked that day, we got out by 2:30pm because my husband said it was coming fast. Him and his coworkers saw how fast it started and how fast it was spreading. I packed the truck by myself with a 3year old, 5 year old, and a dog. It was the scariest experience by far. My husband had to stay in town and the girls and I were on our own until we came back that Friday. We have a good supportive little community/town. That made me really proud and I knew if we lost everything we would be okay.
Love the "corn dog"-- so fun. Also love the blob fish and the puffer fish. Glad you are all safe.

I'm so sorry you had to go through this. My home burned down on 1990 in the Painted Cave fire. We did not have alerts. Nobody came to evacuate us. I decided it was too hot and smokey to stay. Opened front door and there were 100 foot flames on my neighbors roof. I spent 3 minutes gathering important things and 2 cats. Then I spent 2 minutes looking for my keys. I found them and got the heck out of there. It was devastating. However, I survived. Thank God you still have your home.

Thank you. I learned a lot about myself. Always have a go bag of essentials. Always have computer, phones, etc. packed and important papers in a briefcase. I can be packed for my husband, myself and the cat in the car in 7 minutes. It makes needing to think in emergencies almost unnecessary. Something to think about living in an oak grove. I live in a high fire area. I have a red folder with all my important papers ready to grab and go. No matter how many times fires come close it never gets less scary.
I always take a lot of yarn with me lol i never know how long I will be evacuated for
That’s pretty much all I grabbed! Important papers, supplies for my daughter and my yarn bag lol I kept all my papers in a bin so they’re together next time it happens

I live in Apple Valley. So I know about wild fires. I'm so glad that you and your family are safe. For you blob fish, maybe try to crochet an inside "pocket." That way, you're not looking directly down his mouth. Just a thought.

The fire looked so scary. I’d be having really big feelings if I were alone with my baby and that was all happening so quickly. I’m really glad your family and your home are alright. ❤❤❤

I lived in Yuba city and I remember we had to evacuate from the Oroville dam! So crazy! I had to put 2 dogs and 2 cats in my small jeep with no gas lol All the gas stations where packed so i couldn't get gas. I also slept in my jeep overnight till it was safe to go back home.
I'm also glad you and your family is safe! CA has the worst firers. I lived in Yuba city for many years and each year the firers get worse :(

Hello. I live in Fontana california and the heat is ridiculous here also. I have the same fire app that you talked about and have been watching all the fires happening around us. I live close to the fire that started in Lytle Creek luckily someone I know who lives there house was ok. I am so happy that you and your family are safe. I really hope that the temperature start falling soon California is so dried out and a stomping ground for fires. Please take care and have a great day.

I know how you feel about natural disasters but not a wildfire. We had Hurricane Beryl at Category 4 wrecked havoc on Jamaica. No power for 5 days some still don't have. Internet and phone service is still a mess. The southern part of the island is devastated

We just got a note from our Electric Company. If the heat is really high there going to have rolling blackouts. I live on a mountain so it's very lush up here. But we do have our GO BAGS ready. I love your vlogs.

I’m new to Cali, I’m actually from Ohio and have only lived here for a year so this is all so strange and scary! My son was around 16 months and he hid my cell phone in the wipes box. I forgot to pay my bill so I couldn't call it to find it. I found it after I paid the bill and called it. He is 20 now.
