I started to practice this with a friend nearby just in case I needed help. It's definitely doable but I didn't want to do it more than a coupe of times because it seemed like I might bend the handle bars. But now I know I can pick up my downed bike. Thanks
Thanks you for posting sir! Just saw a clip on FB of someone struggling to lift a bike and rather than help the fellow the person chose to record and use it for likes on social media. Shameful!!
Like a rookie, and I'm 69, and no rookie at much, even recovering from a car accident broken back in 2004, I didn't properly set the jiffy stand on my 950 lb Road King after pulling it into my garage. You, and all of your viewers, know what was next. My foot dodged a bullet. What I want you to know is, you helped me pick my bike up today. The best part is, other than no injuries, no one saw it happen! I was so embarrassed that I couldn't even come in the house and tell my wife. I may take the incident to my grave. Bottom line is, you taught me a skill. Seriously, Many Thanks, Chuck in GA.
I love how so many of these are big cruisers in which the engine crash guards and/or other parts of the bike ensure that when it falls all the way down..it DOESN'T...aka it's at around a 60 degree ish angle....not a 85 to 90 degree like a sport bike, adv bike, or even a smaller cruiser ( such as a the honda rebel ...WITHOUT any engine crash guards) would normally be lying down ..to. Let's see you pick that up as easily :P
Those bikes don't weigh 800-1000 lbs. Period. Use this method or turn the bars, if on the left side, put your right hand on the left grip, put your left hand on the right grip, SIMULTANEOUSLY pull up with your right hand and push with your left hand while lifting a little with your legs and back and walk towards the bike, and walk it up. TRY IT, IT WORKS.
Great tip to have it in gear and full stop on the handlebar and grab the passenger grab bar! I routinely picked up my 670# adventure bike in snow, mud, 8" deep gravel, sand... it gets old , but I think this new technique will be dialed when I roll Durango, Ouray, etc. to Estes Park off road and loaded.
Thank God we had Braidon the physically fit 25 year old to show us this....Can Braidon go riding with me so he can pick my bike up? I would have been more impressed if you would have done it
Really? I believe the leverage trick, and it works, but what if you are on gravel, and when you try to walk, you just slip and fall on your ass? Please tell me you have a trick for that scenario…
Oh, by the way lets bring in a young strong stud to do this for an old man because the old man needs 6 people to help him lift it! Also is layed over onto the crash bars and not laying completely flat! AND every Bike can be different!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best way!!!!!!!!!!! Get some help!!!

great vid, hope fully more tips on bikes vids to come !
Step 1: find yourself a young man who will lift it for you.
If this 63 year old with a replacement hip can lift his Ultra Classic, that's over 900lbs with loaded saddle bags, you can do it.

Good video
I always carry a 2x4x8 and 8x16 cinder block in the event this should happen when no one is around to assist.
Very easy when you asking a guy 30 years younger than you to do it...😂👍
I had lower back surgery Monday, from picking up my gold wing I am 61. I recommend using the 30 year old
And then talk shit about him lol
42, 138ish... I know I have to practice this more because I still can't confidently pick my 05 flhtcui up by myself... 😪

Can you show me at 5'6", 138lbs..and 16 inch apes ....on a 2011 Fatboy ??
The young guy … 6’2 220 my guess.
Red DNA

C est possible de l avoir en français
Why didn't you do it 😂
The guy was a bad example he’s huge
If it's so simple, why didn't you do it?
I was thinking the same thing.lol
Exactly!

The correct way to, not how to properly.
What would you do if the bike is lowered with smaller engine guard?
