      Mario Lemieux. Drafted to a bottom-feeder, became the most dominant player in the world, battled horrible back injuries and cancer to come back and win scoring titles/Stanley Cups. Retires because he's too injured and buys his team to keep it in Pittsburgh. The team drafts Crosby which draws him out of retirement again to play a season with him. Retires again to watch his team once again become great and win multiple Stanley Cups. Greatest story in hockey history and I'm not sure 2nd place would be even close.

    Great video. I remember cursing Hossa when he went to the Wings and saying 'serves him right' when the Pens took it. But found myself cheering for him when the Hawks were rolling the next year. He suffered enough, let him win. He wentthru so much mentally in this great game. The ups and downs and downs and ups of this amazing hockey player is wild.
    Yes, totally, it's a movie.

      Draisaitl's game is not nearly as complete as Hossa's. I never saw Hossa take a night off when it came to backchecking. During the regular season, Drai just glides around until he finds his spot for the one timer and waits for a pass. Hossa is also a better skater, and isn't one to whine to the press when they ask a stupid question.

    I was a tad surprised that he got into the HHoF with such ease as a first ballot.
    Magnificent career, in a low scoring era. Most importantly however, he is a winner. Three Cups and one 2nd All Star Team selection. Prior to his last season he landed on 499 career goals. I think he could have had some issues getting in with a goal total starting with a four. Solid playoff performer as well. Deserved the selection.
    Slovakia has quite a few players in the HHoF. Stastny and Mikita have to be considered Slovaks. Chara has to wait a couple more years.

We fans drool over the top scorers and the points they put up but we don't praise The guys who come in every day and bust their ass and do all the things that nobody else wants to do day after day and are the reason why the top goal scorers are who they are. The players that are in it to win the game and to get to the Stanley cup and win it are usually the ones that have a good long career and are just steady point getters. The players that play the game to get points and to pass Wayne Gretzky will get their points but many of them miss out on getting the Stanley cup.

Left Pitt, they didn’t win again until he retired for the skin cancer, and Detroit fell off the map bc the hawks obliterated them. If you ask me he has a magic ball otherwise he could’ve chose any team and not been on the hawks dynasty. Doubt we win 3 cups if he didn’t sign with us. The goat

    Great video but I want to correct an error that propagates unjustly. The Thrashers from 2005-2007 season had excellent fan support, averaging around 16,000 and finishing in the middle of the pack,. in 2005 they outdrew the Islanders, Capitals, and Blackhawks by 3000 a game - you can look up the rest yourself at HockeyDB. Atlanta deserves a team and the often repeated falsehood that their teams didn't get support stands in the way.

    “Underrated”. What a useless, lazy word used over and over by people who should know better.
    How is Marion Hossa’s career underrated when he played in 3 consecutive Cup finals with three different teams who offered him multi-year, multimillion dollar contracts, and then won 3 cups with one of those teams over 6 years, that team retires his number, then goes into the HOF on his first ballot?
    Who was it, exactly, who was underrating him?

    • @MSZFilms
      @MSZFilms  10 місяців тому +3

      I’d say the hockey writers who never even nominated him for a selke once in his career underrated him quite a bit

    • @MSWSB
      @MSWSB 10 місяців тому

      @@MSZFilms, So a group of writers and one award defines the “rating” of a player who’s body of work needs no writers help to be defined, and every actual hockey participant and fan knows that Hossa is one of the greatest players, whose accomplishments speak for themselves.
      In essence, no one who matters to actual hockey people ever “rated” Hossa as anything less than a legend.
      Please consider removing the term “underrated” from your vocabularies and just appreciate the people who’ve earned it without insulting them by indicating that a small group of irrelevant writers didn’t nominate them for an award.
      “Underestimated in the annals of Hockey history”? Really?
      Why insult him with this false and empty phrase just to add another line of narration?
      Hossa is stamped irrevocably in Hockey history as one of its legends by anyone who understands and appreciates Hockey.
      The writer of this video clearly seems to understand and appreciate Hockey and Hossa, while simultaneously insulting Hossa with this terminology.

      @MSWSB 10 місяців тому

      @@MSZFilmsIt’s a meaningless term. Poor writing and poor use of language.
      He’s not underrated by anyone in his sport.
      Some writers didn’t nominate him for an award.
      Underrated is an empty euphemism that any fan wouldn’t use in telling the story of a great player like Hossa.
      If you’re a fan, don’t give a small group of people credit for his “rating” when you and anyone else who is a fan knows who he was to the game.
      I can’t understand why a fan would do this. How can a player be a Legend while also being underrated?
      It’s an oxymoron. His stats need no rating. His list of cup wins needs no rating. The contracts he was offered and given need no rating.
      He was highly rated by all of those facts.
