To be fair, most animals that are discolored blue end up looking downright gorgeous, so I can get why it often ends up increasing their prices drastically.

when i got lucky enough to unbox my first knife, it was a fact new Ruby Butterfly knife. It was sold for ~$15,000. It was enough to rebuild the engine for my car (pfp), build a brand new pc from scratch with all new parts, and put back in a ridiculous $8,000 into my cs inventory.

My favorite part is that I highly doubt there will be anyone able or even willing to spend that much, lol. And even if some arab sheik wanted to buy it... it's either a risky private deal or the Steam market, where your truckloads of money will be forever stuck in without being able to be used for anything else 😂

@@paulsd9255 because it was made as an add on, not an update to the game. they just made a pc add on and then just converted it to xbox. they thought nothing of it at the time.
I think the reason the horse armor DLC caused such an uproar is because it was priced disproportionately to other DLCs; like, you _could_ spend $30 for Shivering Isles.. or you could spend a fifteenth of that on a purely cosmetic DLC that's hundreds or even thousands of times smaller.
It was also the first ever video game microtransaction, and look where that got us...
It's not purely cosmetic actually, it increases your horses health exactly like you would expect armor to do

Magic: the Gathering I believe has set the record this year with the release of the Lord of the Rings set, featuring new card “The One Ring.” While a standard version will run you $50+, the creators of MTG made a one of a king version, with an exclusive art, written in Elvish, and with a serialized “001/001” on it to signify it truly is a one of a kind. This card was purchased by Post Malone for $2.6M.

Many of these things costing more than the good condition Metal Gear Solid figures I just bought or even a car is absurd, specially since the skins are digital only items.

How the times have changed , where a horse armour DLC that cost a couple of bucks got so much comlpaint to today, where people can willingly charge over 2million dollars for a blue knife so much more expensive than a physical one , and people will accept that reality

The reason that Poisoned shadows antlers is "worth more" than the burning TC is a price anonaly and price manipulation. The burning is the still by far the most desired hat, especially the clean one. The duped is still the most sought after hat that is not "desireable" I own 5.

Also there are even more expensive skins in Dota that are bugged to have two unusual effects, but they're only traded on third party markets, which makes it difficult to find definitive price data.

I could also add a little bit of my own nerd obsession here aswell. In minecraft, there exists a server - the biggest minecraft server - Hypixel. And on that server, there exists a minigame - the biggest minecraft minigame - Hypixel Skyblock. Way back before november 2019 (the game was released june that same year) you could dye most of the armors with regular minecraft dyes. In november a patch came out that fixed that bug, but all the colored armors retained their unique appearence. Four years later some of the most highly coveted armors fetch prices in thousands of dollars, for a virtual set of armor, inside a game, inside a game. Insanity!

Knifes in CSGO/CS2 are actually not the rarest unbox in the game (yes, even a stat track knife isn't as rare).
Some containers, like the Anubis collection, they don't have knifes in them, and instead, their red item ends up being rare than a stat track knife.
(This is not putting into account extra variables such as pattern, knife skin, type of knife, wear/float, or other stuff).
