Suddenly 6 years without an update doesn't seem like the worst thing...
That's what I'm saying. People seem to forget that a bad update can really sink a game. The game's stable enough as it is, I'd be happy if they only did something about the bot problem and never touched it again.
TF2 players: "First time?"
Can't be disappointed if they don't give you hope
Yeah i rather deal with bots and a lack of updates than dealing with the trash OW has become, they straight up rob us players who actually payed for OW1 back in the day.
I'm never spending nor give a single fuck about Blizzard for the rest of my life.
i know how overstated it is but its genuinely insane that overwatch was outlasted by a rusty, old ,rusty , dusty, pusty, game like tf2 solely because of how terrible its management was.
TF2 legit might outlive Overwatch
It will outlive it twice
No, not "might". it *WILL.*
I’m sorry, but as someone who was a TF2 player and enjoyer before overwatch, the game is all but dead, so I didn’t get the whole #SAVETF2 thing. The public matchmaking I’ve entered is filled with bots, trolls, and item farmers, even when I wanted to hop back in to relive the glory days. Correct me if I’m wrong but even if Overwatch is dying, so is TF 2
@@Janon743 CtF is pretty infested, but most other modes are pretty much cleared out. Bots are still present, but it's very rarely more than 1 or 2 at a time.
TF2 cheers from its hospital bed, tubes in every orifice.

I didn’t even play overwatch 1 that much, and yet I still was able to get a shit ton of legendary skins without paying a single dime (I managed to collect almost all of the skins for a couple characters I mained, for reference) whereas in overwatch 2 in the few weeks I played the game before I uninstalled it I was unable to get remotely close to obtaining any legendary skins
Crazy to remember that OW1 was a phenomenon at launch, and poised to be the biggest game of that generation. Now it feels roughly as big and important as Paladins.
False: Paladins is still running after 7 years and slaps, where as Overwatch 1 is buried by a game that will likely be officially dead in a few months.
Paladins rocks
Honestly, the core design of Paladins was in my opinion way better than Overwatch, it was just held back by a lack of polish and an incompetent dev team. However bad you think blizzard has gotten, just know that hi-rez was worse (can't speak to the current state of the dev team, but at one point they tried to implement the infamous battlefield 2 loot box system that was directly tied to in-game power).
More things they removed:
Being able to choose 3 different types of endorsements,
medals,
cards,
on-fire system,
player borders,
lootboxes (making it impossible to get free skins now for playing and adding an in-game shop with 4 different currencies and exhorbitant prices),
they created a map pool and disabled maps that we all liked for no reason,
glitched out heroes and made them unable to play with even in custom games,
reworked UIs and visual effects into looking worse and less of comic-like (like the nano boost old effect, it used to be blue thunder like a comic now its a generic blue cloud),
reworked rank system into dogshit,
can't even see your rank mid-game,
they removed cards and medals because "they were toxic" but they added A SCOREBOARD that is infinitely more toxic wtf? What's the logic?
removed old player records for old seasons so if you managed to be Top 500 cant even flex that,
reworked rank visuals into looking uglier (most visual reworks for OW2 is literally just making it look worse)
removed 1 tank , thus getting rid of tank synergies and fun combos (dive, rush) instead of reworking tanks into not being able to choose more than 1 main tank (off tank+main tank) so that they could SMARTLY get rid of double shield and making the game better...
promised features that never made it into the game like: weapon inspect animations, placeable flags, hand emotes, dynamic weather, day-night cycles for IRL time...
Now they deleted PVE! Overpromising and not delibering good content for 3+ years!
This game is so bad so much worse than Overwatch 1 I dont care if anyone thinks its better or an "upgrade" I payed 40 bucks back in the day for Overwatch 1, THAT game was amazing, this is now dogshit!
As you can see Overwatch 2 REMOVED more thing to the game than adding anything creatively new.
I stopped playing any Blizzard games since the fratboy culture was exposed, but since I once liked this game, I stayed tuned with the news. There's no reason to play this garbage.
I completely agree with you. I haven't touched Overwatch since the free week where there was a time I could play it without worrying about paying for it, I had fun, but since I couldn't do it anymore I just never played Overwatch again. And I won't even touch Overwatch 2. It’s all about motives: Indie studios want to make good games. Big companies want to make profit. Making good games is not the most efficient strategy for making profit.
I remember getting laughed at for playing Paladins, but man, if they only knew how many people were laughing at them IN QUEUE TO LOAD THE MAIN MENU, just to be pushed back to 20,000th place in line.
Lets not forget that in Overwatch 1 the game would give you credits just for playing matches and you could generally grind out a legendary skin you liked in 2 days, and on top of that get even more credits and random skins from the lootboxes which were also dished out for just playing the game normally. I cant believe that the Overwatch 2 monetization is making me defend lootboxes but thats how bad it is honestly, all the super old skins you could grind out for free are now locked behind solid paywalls, even for OW1 players and theres nothing you could do about it : D The game removed a ton of features, called them improvements, added a scummy shop and now reintroduces these old features and tells us they are new content.
I would be so pissed right now if I was seriously invested in Overwatch.
People were pissed about the Lootboxes in OW1 just because every other game did the shittiest version of lootboxes possible. Sure you could throw a fortune away buying christmas lootboxes but nobody I knew did that, everyone just played like maniacs during events to grind out the freebies from leveling up which goes to show how badly they missed with OW2 with free currency being something nobody would ever play for while people binge played OW1 during events.
In overwatch 2, you can only earn 60 credits per week for free, and each legendary costs 2,000 credits (meaning it will take you 33.3 weeks per skin).
In overwatch 1, you could earn 25 credits per flex game and upto 1000 credits in a lootbox (which you could earn every 6 games, or so), with legendary skins that costs 1000-3000 credits (meaning that with extreme luck you could earn a skin in one game, but in an absolute maximum of 40/120 games, or about 4/12 hours of grinding QP).
I think the main reason they got rid of lootboxes (other than the obvious cash grab) was because the UK government forced them to reveal the odds of each drop, with legendaries only having a 1/17 chance to drop (meaning the $50 pack would only guarantee you 3 skins... which is still cheaper than OW2 prices...).
This shit is exactly the reason why I stick to single player games. At least in those games there are no battle passes, no balance issues and (mostly) no stupid updates.
There's so much immaturity in multiplayer too. I've grown to have an allergic reaction to just thinking about it.
Deep Rock Galactic easily has the best battle pass system in the market. It's TOTALLY free, with no paid tiers, it's ALL cosmetic, and any cosmetics you don't earn, can be earned later via random drops you can find in caves in cargo crates. Also 90 percent of the community is fucking awesome and really nice. It's a positive feedback loop as opposed to OW2's negative one.
In ow2, You gotta keep playing if you want the free hero, oh whoop dee doo, I got a keychain I will never use, OH SNAP LEGACY CREDITS, FAR OUT. BLESS PAPA BOBBY.
Overwatch's pass doesn't feel rewarding the level up on, you can go like 20+ levels without getting anything of note, especially on the free pass. Just lame.
You can knock out DRG's pass within 2 weeks easily, just doing dailies every other day and your weekly overclock stuff, which give you more gameplay mechanics to play with!
Overwatch? It's gonna be a lot of NaCl to the finish. OR you can pay Bobby to skip the tiers and you don't even gotta play it!
The best part about single player games is you can still play them years later... multiplayer games require a server to run and once the company decides its not worth paying for the upkeep the server goes down, rendering the game unplayable for the rest of eternity. With single player games you can still usually play it over a decade later.
@@lasercraft32 Yes, you are right. There is one more thing. I'm a completionist, and multiplayer games are not friendly towards those hopping in late because they miss out on limited-time modes and events, and some tasks/achievements are impossible or too time consuming to attain. Single player games however, that's not the case. And it's awesome.
Ive recently stopped playing online multiplayer games and sweating. I bought a switch for zelda, mario , etc. and i haven’t had this much fun gaming in ages. So much more relaxing 😌
I’m not even into this game but seeing all of this bullshit makes me so angry, this community deserves better
I can't wait to see modded private servers of OW 1, where they add the new characters, and actually bother putting effort into balancing.
It really is pay to win. I had a match where our Junker Queen kept getting anti'd by the enemy Ana and was dying a lot. They asked for a Kiriko for the cleanse and unfortunately both me and my co-support didn't have her unlocked yet. We just barely lost that match and 100% would have won with a Kiriko. That any hero is locked at any time in a game built around counters and playing to your strengths is insane.
Personally I don't think it's a pay to win game (thankfully) because there's multiple good supports to use other than kiriko. Same with the other roles as well, I do think it's bs that you have to pay or grind just to get new characters though.

Remember:
Overwatch 2 was announced just minutes after the non-apology for the Blitzchung incident.
Blizzcon was announced the day after OW2's cancellation was informed.
Blizzard is in damage control mode and has been for ages now.
You can go further back.
Overwatch dropped a surprise free beta when Battleborn released, effectively killing it in its crib. Overwatch's entire history is nothing but damage control.
Honestly, I'm surprised about how much shit this community can pardon...
I'd say overwatch was designed backwards, the first game should've been exclusively PvE since not many of those allow co-up over 4 players, and being unbalanced wouldn't be a problem since it wouldn't be competitive. Then made the sequel focused on PvP so they'd only have to pay attention to balancing, even if it's so badly designed it makes league of legends look good. But now that I think about it, blizzard has been following a lot of tencent's game philosophies without the care to cover it up, no wonder it's gotten so blatantly greedy and obviously unfinished; but hey that's why I never trust publishers on news, not even for their own games lol.
Honestly once they said they were going to a free to play battlepass with a shop I knew it was over.
Blizzard needs to be sued for lying to players about the PVE. They scrapped it before Overwatch 2 even came out and made players think that it was still coming. They knew that if they were honest since the start then no one will pay for anything inside their shitty game
Blizzard tried to make a cosmetic over thirty dollars in Australia and because of australian consumer laws it was illegal to where they tried to fight a lawsuit about it and lost.
@@Lobsterminator GOOD. That horrendous, unacceptable company should burn
I'd seen the situation covered by other UA-camrs, but none of them went into the details about the current state of Overwatch 2. As someone who doesn't play it, your explanations and examples were really helpful and easy to follow. I feel like I understand the disappointment and frustration of current players much more. This goes beyond just "we didn't get a play mode we were promised."
I've been playing since 2016ish. It was loads of fun until 2019. 2020 they started working on OW2 so the game was stale but still good. OW2 coming out was like whiplash. So much balancing is busted now and the game is basically decided solely by the single tank. Ranked is broken, QP is ok but inferior, and the shop is a glorified cash grab that makes me wish for loot boxes. The only saving grace are that the custom games are still good
They killed a perfectly fine game for this broken mess.
Right? The edited trailer where he removed everything that's not in the current game really nails it- OW2 is really just an update to OW1 but with a desperate monetisation system.

Its insane how Blizzard announced Blizzcon after effectively cancelling Overwatch 2
What the fuck do they even have to show for it?
I knew my pessimism was justified
I was WAITING for act-blizzard to prove everyone wrong
*and I was horribly proven right*
Yeah I stopped playing Overwatch 1 after like season 8 or 9 cause I was getting bored. I hadn't followed it in years and when I heard "Overwatch 2 has been announced". I was curious what made it a 2 and looked into it. When I saw the 2 was just for PvE I was incredibly pessimistic as well. I had played like 3 years of Junkerstein and the Blackwatch mission, both had pretty meh PvE. I always kinda hoped Blizzard would succeed but knew they wouldn't.
Vindication is a hell of a drug. I've been a massive jerk about this game ever since I quit years ago and to my friends, despite them agreeing with my sentiments(to an extent). I was pretty peeved that people were still accepting of them bending them over and going to town when 2 was released but I knew it would collapse at one point for one reason or another and boy does it feel good to be right
The way that they could've done nothing with the game ever again like 6 years ago and it would've turned out 100 times better is mind boggling. The most Blizzard thing that could happen.
Wasn't a fan of tank duo dictating every match/meta/etc back in 6v6. Competitively speaking OW1 died long before the launch of OW2.
I didn't have the same nostalgia most others had. I'd just joined Overwatch a year before it shut down. The moment I heard about 2 and it was eliminating 6 v 6, my brain wondered what else they'd eliminate. Turns out, a whole lot! Then when they released the battle pass, I basically stopped playing. I poked in here and there with friends to see how bad it was getting, grimace, then leave. Honestly hate that I spent full price on Overwatch to only have it taken off after a year for me. I wouldn't have purchased it if I'd known how much they'd remove for Overwatch 2.
They litteraly farted in our mouths after pretending it was a breeze during a burning summer...
It's genuinely shocking to witness a company become so pathetic and sad. This is truly a fall from grace. When overwatch first came out in 2016 it was truly something special.
No it wasn't, out was forced competitive moba tf2
not even a good moba at that, Battleborn had it thoroughly beat in that regard. Shame it was killed, it even had all the things OW2 promised...

There is no possible word but schadefreude to describe how it feels seeing Overwatch fans get gaslit out of what Battleborn had from the start. Right down to not being able to even play Overwatch classic anymore, same as not even being able to play Battleborn's campaign....
They took every bad part of League of Legends and did their best to remove any good to decent part of it.
But I like how each OW2 is bs video brings new arguments to the table, Blizzard bashing is amusing and surprisingly still fresh after almost a week this time around. Good times to hate everything corporate this year.

@@The_whalesactually its why they gave so little currency in the conversion to OW2. While I did not own everything and played sporadically with my friend.... I had 85% unlocks with 50k currency in the bank ready to spend.
Good thing I just spent 30k of it on 10 "eh' skins before OW2, because my 21k good for 7 skins could barely afford 3 after conversion. And that currency can not be used to get anything new or the BP.
I love how the devs said they didn’t want to cater the game to hard counters. But the game has never felt more rock paper scissors than EVER before. It’s insane how much you will just lose because one team has a widow player and you don’t ggs.
Widow in OW1 has double shield in her face and if not, had peel/push tanks like Dva, Winston and WB to chase after her.
Now you require a flank to go after her, which if the Widow is better will ruin them and if she is positioned near her team will be hard to get the pick.
No one has the Kit or time to counter a widow anymore and it shows.
@@Keldiur damn its almost like they made a game to cater to dps....
Tbh half the problem with her is the garbage map design. A lot of more recent maps have huge sightlines that you're forced to move through making it inevitable that Widow sees you.
Then there's also some maps where she can do this while sitting so far back that she's unable to be dived effectively, so the match boils down to whoevers snipers die first. The devs even point this out in one of their posts saying she has a high winrate on those maps ex. Havana but haven't really done anything about it yet.
@@Keldiur Get one flanker and a dive tank, or even like a lucio together, and don't walk straight forward into a widow. Use your corners and USE TEAMWORK. That's the problem, people keep crying about widows being op but at the same time they instantly cry when you pick her because they fucking know she isn't as easy as people like to pretend she is. Now the aim assist on controller is a nightmare and does make her way too strong in hands that would never be able to do anything with her if not for aim assist. But the pc side widows aren't as op as people make them out to be. People are just fucking bad at not walking in a straight line into the middle of the road. That's not widows fault.
@@sweetillusions5495 its the exact same problem as sniper in tf2, people love to circlejerk about him when the real problem is mao design. A sniper is as powerful as the sightlines are long
Don't forget that they removed Mei's ability to freeze which is the entire point of her friggin character. In fact, they said they would remove all stun-effects, but instead added new ones. And yes, the match making is an INSULT. I constantly end up in very low rank loser teams because the game thinks my play time means I can carry those games. I not only can't, but it's also not fun at all. Maybe that's the true PvE. Me with like level 300 being trapped in level 20 teams. Finally, they sold recolors (no changes, just recolors) of Dvas launch edition skin for 20 bucks each.
Can't we just start a private Overwatch classic server without all the bullshit?
Well they took all that away so I'm afraid we can't.
Unless they can recreate the back end (server structure) no. It would be a massive undertaking which I really do not see the passion for it yet.
I feel so bad for the devs who poured all the hard work on PVE just for it to be cancelled
It sounds like they tried to make it but they couldn't make it work, and after years of not getting anywhere they canned it.
The "don't blame devs, blame the higher-ups" is often true, but that's not a rule. KSP2 also released in EA with no basic mechanics and not working after years of development, so while execs that forced the early release are the key cause for it, I can't say the devs were up to task.

Children and adults alike, let me tell you of a simpler time, when Overwatch was the pinnacle of first person shooters.
Sure, it had some problems, as any game did. But the unique atmosphere of a semi dystopian and utopian world with sentient human like robots, constantly at war with each other because of discrimination was brilliant. Taking heroes, all from around the globe and giving them unique powers and abilities that aligned with their personality and careers was so exciting. Whenever we wanted lore, we were given comics and small but fun pve stories. Loot boxes which you obtained by working hard and leveling up, along with fun exciting challenges that gave you coins and more loot boxes, which by the way gave you free skins, voice lines, emotes sprays and more in game currency. Customizable games made by people who loved Overwatch, and wanted to be apart of their growing community. It was beautiful, and brought together friends, gaming leagues and communities, and a fanbase only the greatest of games could achieve. Fair patches, consistent updates for the most part, and so much splendor. Oh how I miss that game. But thankfully, one of the few times the consumer gets a brain, we are hitting Blizzard hard for their over expensive battle pass, unbalanced gameplay, and false promises. Maybe they’ll listen, who knows. Even Apex Legends and Fortnite listen to their fans, and provide good gameplay that doesn’t require extensive battle passes and overpriced shit. Farewell, I hope we meet again
