For me, it's Albert Ferber hands down. His tone is simply out of this world…lilting, singing, ethereal….

Tiegerman’s architecture is my favorite. But then the tone of Ferber’s mid section. And Thyssens-Valentin’s invokes a lovely day dream… thankfully they’re all here so I don’t have to choose only one!

This is a great channel and one that highlights that there are many ways to play music and quite often the composer would play their pieces differently as most were skilled improvisors. Its all about preference and not about the right or wrong way to play a piece of music. Some people like faster rushed pieces and some like slower floaty pieces. Of course the musical lines need defining accordingly to make musical sense of the piece.... My preference for Faure is 24:28 : Germaine Thyssens-Valentin closely followed by 17:49 : Albert Ferber

My preference is of the slower floaty kind, so I totally agree: Ferber, Thyssens-Valentin and Komarov. It seems to me they let the music lead, rather than pushing or pulling it this way and that. No urgency, no rush. More like "Be water, my friend"!

Marguerite Long !!! She really gets the best poetic expression and legato... Not one boring note...
