Im between this and the Hiby Rs2 and R6III I don't care about the wifi o Bluetooth just about the sound so your video is just what I needed I'm going for them Rs2!!!!!! Im so happy and ost so beautiful
Received mine 5 days ago ($425 open box) and am loving it. Paired with Tangzu Wu Heyday for now. Has a fair heft to it so not great for pants pockets. Hate the enclosed condom case and am awaiting the leather case. Still experimenting with all the settings. So much better than the buggy Sony NW-A306.
Well rounded review! 😊 Look forward to your thoughts on the newer R6 Pro II and how that compares to the RS6, Sony WM1A and Cayin N6ii's of this world. Am part of the group mesmerized by the looks and holding off from other purchases until that launches.
Same waiting on impressions for the R6 pro Was initially thinking of RS6 but that being 2 year old at this point is a risky purchase. The should have an RS6 gen 2 this year imo
@@RizzY_RUS Love it! It sounds great the interface is snappy and the connection with my car is perfect and sounds great! Got a pair of Fiio F3 earbuds to match when I travel and they sound great together! My one gripe...I wish the screen was 1080p. The screen is great and colors look great but having 1080 would just make it more punchier and sharper. But overall I love it!
@@nelsonc6173 nice! But how's battery life, especially in class AB? I'm just trying to upgrade my level up from Hidizs AP80, and got stuck between 3 choices: Fiio M11S, Shanling m3x ultra, and Hiby R6 gen 3. My main criteria in those players is battery life, I need 10 or more hours of them in normal mode Thank you for the info tho, I would appreciate it if you could answer this question too :D
@@RizzY_RUS To be honest I haven't had the chance to really use it in AB mode. I've been listening entirely in A mode LOL and have seen very minimal loss in battery life. I can't give you an exact hour count but I will say this. I was using it in my car connected by bluetooth in A mode. I was driving for around 2 hours and without it being plugged in. When I got home I was expecting the battery to be down at least 50%...The battery level was down only to 95%. Now I wasn't messing with the screen or anything so the R6 was basically asleep the entire time. So overall I was pretty happy with battery performance in that situation! Now when I drive my earbuds it definitely drains the battery faster but not by much. I use the PO 3.5mm connection with my FiiO F3 earbuds and after about an hour use I get it to about 90%/88% battery life depending if I'm scrolling through my music collection...which is still pretty damn good in terms of battery drain. If you plan on driving hungrier headphones you might have a different experience. Also let me stress I've been listening to my installed music collection. I have not been streaming any music. I plan on subscribing to Tidal or Quobuz at some point but haven't yet. So streaming might be more intensive on the battery than just listening to your onboard music. I looked at the same models you did. I passed on FIIO because the reviews on their players tend to be mixed. I Was looking at the Shanling M3x and M6 Ultra as well. M3 screen was to small...wanted bigger screen...and the M6 ultra was 300 bucks more and being that this was going to be my first DAP I did not want to spend over 500 bucks. But if monies weren't an issue I would have went for the M6 for the 1080p screen and case design. Not sure if this helps or not but hopefully I gave you some idea of real usage in real time. I really love the R6 and it blows away anything/everything I've had before! : )
This thing is amazing, aside from the volume knob. Its basically unusable in the case, but bare back its alright, if annoying. I guess it prevents accidental volume adjustment, but a standard rocker volume control would be better
I got it on the HiBy site. It was on sale for a short while for Valentines Day. Now it is back up to $499.Maybe it will go back on sale for another holiday. @@joncruz
so whats the difference between something like this and the LG V60 its a phone with a quad dac i dont think is too fancy but specs wise it has way more on ram screen battery and i can reproduce bit perfect from some apps . it doesn't have many headphone jacks only 3.5 so for only use it as a hifi player which would be better? one is 400 and the other 150?
New subscriber: Have a question re: your thoughts in SQ using the HiBy R6 Gen3 with their CR06 dock in a home stereo setup as my streamer/dac? This vs say the Gustard R26 streamer dac which you also recently reviewed and liked.
Does this R6 Pro II player have enough power to drive headphones, specifically the classic Sennheiser HD 650 (SPL 104)? Some reviews imply it is tailored to ear buds, and is "relatively low powered". No doubt this unit has superb sound, but if it cannot drive my headphones, I will look elsewhere. Please advise.
@MobileDecay well your not the only one I've heard say they didn't feel the difference from I gleamed is class is just a little better for over ear. And AB works well with both overhead and IEM's. So I'd say that's a good thing.
@MobileDecay All the A does over AB is better sustained power and maybe a little better bass . It's has a built-in return that auto optimizes for impedance when you plug your headphones in. Chances are, it's just do all the heavy lifting. If you can turn gain to low max volume and listen if there is no hiss. Then dac is good. If you like the neutral sound of it. Then keep it. If not, maybe try a fiio or basso tho those can be markedly more expensive. As long as AB sounds good. With no discernable distortion. Is a win for r6 3. AB is supposed to be the lesser quality setting. Theirs always the chance the device just doesn't have to umph to push your over ears. I don't use over ear. I have a set of akg n5005's custom cable balanced 4.4mm, and it's great. If you're interested, they are going for less than 300 and usually cost a little over 900. You can't go wrong with them. It sounds amazing they can go as low a 10hz and up to 40khz have five drivers that cover specific frequencies, so Chances are music will sound truer to life. Not knocking your set IEM is the way to go for me if your on a budget, try 1more line of IEM less than 200 and quad driver they also sound amazing but with no detachable cable.or balanced output. But I use both regularly depending on the flavor.of the day I want and have never felt I needed more all the mid low and hi is their I can here crap in music I never heard before listening to same song. Good luck, God speed, and a happy listening.
I want that magical cabinet. It seems to have unlimited gadgets.
Been watching a few of your reviews. You have a very definitive way of explaining things. Love the b rolls and general ambience of the videos.

Thanks for another great review. I am interested in purchasing this dap and wanted to see a review from someone I trust.
Excellent review 👍 thank you
Honestly this pretty much everything i wanted improved from the ladt gen and R5. Probably gonna pick this bad boy up 11/11 or summer/autumn sales

Where did you got the R6 for this price?

Great review, Thanks! Love this DAP with streaming but haven’t found Airplay yet. Do you know where it is in the menus?
Whats the music player used? Doesnt look like the stock hiby one.
Would you be able to pick this in a blind test versus an apple USB c dongle, given the headphone/iem can be driven by both at the same volume?
They are very different
Yes you would.
I drained the battery and charged it while it’s turned off, took about 6 hrs to go 100%.
Hola, saludos desde Mexico...una pregunta, cual es tu opinión y diferncias entre este modelo con el M11 plus Ess???
How does this compare with the dx170? Or the Sony NW-306
When using DSP's, can you download your library and play offline? Or do you need WiFi for DSP's to play?
How is the sound compared to the Sony WM1A and Fiio M11 Plus ESS?
can i install apple music and get bit perfect?
Hmm I'm not it's worth upgrading from the tempotech V6

How's well driving headphones?
How would the sound signature of the Dethonray Pegasus SG-1 compare to these and the iBasso DX170?
how is the software ? I have the Fiio X5, it's very very slow

Perhaps using the Darwin II wallpaper on the R6 wasn’t a good idea if you didn’t want to cause confusion.
Accepts which size of sdhc card?
micro
Hi can this record audio in from a standard stereo TRS cable?
@Gizaudio how would this unit compare to an iFi xDSD Gryphon sound quality-wise?
I would like to know that too, thinking about going the same way.
All it lacks is PEQ and a better resolution screen
PEQ yes :) but better Res not
Hiby app has PEQ
Any one tried Roon and/or Roon Arc with this? Does it stream at High res with Roon or is it stuck @ 44.1 like the iBasso DX170?
Does this DAP worth to upgrade from R3 II only in terms of sound quality? The improvement is really noticeable?
no darwin
Creation only, no Darwin
A lot of questions in comment section
None answered 😂😂😂
I couldn't tell any difference at all between class a and a/b mode. I don't even think it works.

@@MobileDecay. . . Does this Hiby R6 drive your Sennheiser 660s very well?
Sounds like Randy
Tried the Hiby at Japan amongst various other DAP, and the best in the price range is the Sony ZX707.
Not in this videos price range. So, irrelevant.
sony zx707 is twice the price of the DAP in the video . wth?
The USA model is underpowered.
