- The question of whether or not humanity is alone in the Fallout Universe is one that has a definitive answer. Aliens, known as Zetans, have been visiting planet Earth since time immemorial, abducting and experimenting on human beings. For all the impact they have had on the world however, few know of them. So join us today as we take a look into this terrifying faction from beyond the stars.

Aliens in Fallout share many similarities with purported accounts in pop-culture ufology, but the Zetans notably may have been inspired by the famous Barney and Betty Hill abduction incident, in which it is claimed that the aliens were from the Zeta Reticuli system. In UFO enthusiast communities, they refer to this species of aliens as "Zetans", although some consider the "Zetans" and "Greys" to be one and the same. Zeta Reticuli is a binary star system located about 39.3ly from Earth.
Heard Bob lazar talk about them I think they came up with gravity altering tech long ago because of the gravity altering effects binary stars produce in their region of space
Yeah, it goes along with the 50s early 60s vibe that Fallout portrays. I like them for that reason, oddly it's become interesting to see aliens as we first imagined them.
I will always know them as Reticulans.
As a Zeta Reticulan myself, yes you may call us Zetans.
The zetans are some of the most interesting enemies encountered in fallout.
Good job
The sky is blue
Definitely interesting. For me it's the Wannamingos.
Silence
I wish there was more diplomatic approches with them, one way or another. So we could figure out more about the green buggers.
I mean to be fair, I doubt you often get the chance to watch a planet destroy itself and start rebuilding from the ashes.
Must be interesting for the Zetans to watch all that from orbit.
Like the ultimate series of Survivor
@Richard Until you consider that there's rumors they CAUSED the nukes.
or worse off, the thought that this isn’t a big deal for them. we could just be one of many planets they are conquering. Feels very half life inspired
*"Demon!"*

That's what repubLIEcans call them. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
Chief : BOO 👻
it's funny to me how this 19 year old can not only take on the capital wasteland shard of the enclave but also the entire mothership full of robots and angry aliens (possibly with only his fists)
Irl there were younger man beating big threats
But yea thats really funny some druged up 19nyear old beating an alien Invasion to death
@CocoaXtv_ sounds overpowered but it's not as impressive when you consider chosen one had a smal platoon of allies backing him up and a security systems turned against this slightly shorter behemoth
Florida man 2.0
I hope in the next game they introduce a zetan that can communicate with the player either verbally or through psychic means I'm gonna laugh if we are a vault dweller again and he asks if people wearing the blue jump suits are geneticly modified or cyberneticly enhanced due to them being around since fallout 1 heck make him a companion
Edit:Basically hell like anything you do that'll gives him insight into human behavior like accepting random quests or threatening others for personal gain
If Bethesda ever gives us a Zetan Companion I want them to either talk like Invader Zim, or Crypto from Destroy All Humans!
ALIEN COMPANION!!!
I never knew i needed this in my life, but i _doooooo!!!_
@stormsurge2103 that would be so dope
@@stormsurge2103imagine crypto from destroy all humans as a playable character in a fallout game that would be awesome
@@stormsurge2103imagine crypto from destroy all humans in fallout he would have the time of his life
I think I remember reading a theory somewhere that the reason the Zetans never fully invaded was because they were scared of whatever Lovecraftian stuff is going on like with the Dunwich Building/Borers (similar to some fanfic I remember reading of aliens invading Earth only to to annihilated by the old gods that came back to defend humanity)
Ye, if your people have no supernatural ideas/holdovers from an earlier time and then you go to another planet where there’s VERIFIABLE supernatural happenings, you’d need to do some serious recalculation about what the universe really is
I heard a theory that they are much more susceptible to radiation than humans, and can't colonize until the radiation is cleared. That's why they want to make human-zetan hybrids.
The last part makes sense considering the fact that the Mysterious Stranger is said to be an eldritch being. At least in fallout 3. They help the player, but I mean they do kill humans as well.
@@anarky5682”eldritch” just means “arcane.” Like, “old and unknown.” Not necessarily “cosmic horror.” It’s likely that one line just meant “this is an old and mysterious person”, whcih makes sense considering the mysterious stranger has existed since the first two games.
@@LobsterLadyyyy all cosmic horror is Eldritch.
In my own head canon, the Zetans are in a prolonged conflict, either cold or outright, with another race. It would explain why they were breeding hybrids in an attempt to make some sort of front line soldier. If the race that Lorenzo spoke about in 4 was DIFFERENT, then it would open up some really cool back story. They had interacted with humanity in the past, the Zetans seized control of Earth from them, and then began studying Humans to find out what was interesting about us to the other Aliens. When the war started going badly, they started trying to make hybrids as cannon fodder. The idea that there is this galaxy spanning war going on that mirrors the the Sino-American War in a lot of ways, with both sides trying to develop ever stronger super weapons, is an entertaining one. It would be even cooler if both sides of the Great War were using technology that was reverse engineered from a different faction in the Galactic War. Maybe the Americans were using plasma weapons and power armor from Zetan tech, and the Chinese stealth suits as well as a few other pieces were from the Lorenzo aliens. It certainly makes for an interesting story
Interesting, I love this idea, maybe if it gets popular enough Bethesda will ads it to fo6 (a second alien race with a different vibe)
Honestly wish they did that with the flatwoods monster. A separate alien species possibly at odds with the zetans, but flatwoods being more technologically handicapped or something. But no, the falttowoods monster are just handicapped zetans
This idea sounds fucking sick dawg, if the alien 2 race was ever to be introduced or real I wish it appears in Fallout 6 (hopefully in New York) lol, that would be so fucking sick dawg
Maybe they are in a conflict with future humans. And they are able to travel through time and is trying to find our secret sauce by going through our history. But they're kind of incompetent. Explains how they have a Samurai on the ship. Or thats just because of light speed travel and they picked him up on an earlier expedition. I guess he's in suspended animation and might have been on the ship for an actual 500 years.
Awesome idea, basically the resource wars and it's conclusion in 2077 was just one planetary spanning proxy war for the zetans and their rivals.
Could even be that because the zetans and this other alien race have super weapons that can destroy whole star systems, they fight indirect proxy wars on other planets and avoid direct conflict with eachother, all the while being in an arms race that could one day give advantage to one side, hence all their experimentations with human/zetan hybrids,
The whole galaxy is locked in a cold war that could one day go hot and destroy the galaxy
Aliens, Mutated Creatures and hints of lovecraftian deities is exactly why I love Fallout.
I hope skynet's dialog is brought up, in that they tell the player that advanced AI technology was developed and reverse engineered from alien technology
Edit:YES! HE KNOWS
I got you fam
Fort Banister in fallout 3 has some interesting things going on with it as well. A crater can be found nearby with alien power cells and within the lower levels I remember seeing short range teleporter things on the floor; like the ones you use to go between some areas in mothership Zeta.
I think the pre war government was trying to reverse engineer alien tech there.
So in theory the safest human beings are the ones sealed in the vaults.
Which begs the question, why didn't the aliens bother with vault dwellers?
Now this is quality content! I was wondering if you would cover topics like this.
Glad you enjoyed! Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to see.
@yaboii Maybe some what-ifs? Like what if the Lone Wanderer met the Sole Survivor?
>make myself egg sandwich
>yaboi uploaded
Life is good
Egg salad sandwiches are god tier
Its highly likely that the mothership the player visits in Fallout 3 is a military vessel. Look up the conditions on modern US Navy Vessels. They’re called coffin beds for a good reason.
Was only a matter of time before you made this video, good work Mate!
Congrats on being first!
Thanks mate!
I would love to have a spin off game that would focus on the Zatens.
I can recognize Ridley Scott's alien ambiance. Also what if the Zetans are actually human (possibly mutant) time travelers? It would explain the government's cooperation and how similar they are in biology; It would explain why they seem to make an appearance throughout human history. It could even explain why they would start the great war, they knew that they needed to influence their own mutations into a more advanced species so they set the stage towards humanity's large scale conquest of the universe. If you ask me I think the Zetans have some ghoulish features.
...and their architechture shows some institute-ish features ;)
Interstellar?
Ridley Scott used the same ambient track from the Nostromo Medbay in Alien later in Bladerunner for Deckard's Apartment
@@maloryfunction2260 really? I've seen both movies many times and I don't think I've noticed; Gave me a reason to watch again thanks. 😊
Wish the zetans played more of a role in fo4
Would've been fun to see how the institute would deal with them
Honestly it's quite a let down that the institute does not have any significant connection to zetans tech or the study of it . It's probably the most advanced research center operating on earth and doesn't seem to even know they exist meanwhile enclave and pre war govs are proven to have had an interest in studying them
The aliens started the war.
This would actually be super cool
@@nica2411 Not really because it would undermine Fallout's message about war if the war wasn't caused by human failings but instead the interference from an alien race.
@@fareflight2029 Yeah exactly I'd be okay if they wanted to destroy the world...Though the question would be why didn't they do that in the 1600's the earliest point we know they were around Earth even less of a chance for Humans to fight back and their Death Rays could 100% do the job. But yeah no the Aliens can't have been the ones to actually launch the the Nukes because that completely breaks the entire moral philosophy of the series. That Humanity is it's own greatest threat, That the Xenophobia and National Extremism of Humans lead to mass destruction, That War never changes because Humans are the cause and we keep living on.
USA or China or some Human that has to be who ordered or launched the Nukes. The Aliens could've influenced the decision somehow but only to an extent not be the direct cause. In my opinion the lore already sets up a compelling story about US Expansionism and Counterextremism against a Chinese Threat lead to Beijing being actively destroyed so they felt no need to fear MAD any longer. That both sides were wrong, That Humanity misused and abused technology while seeking unlimited power to the point of our world being killed and we being left to deal with the mess.
Fallout is a Human story a Dark one at that which depicts Humanity in a very negative light but also leaving just enough hope within the Wastes to rise again but having to learn very harsh lessons to do so.
I actually love the addition of the Aliens but they need to have a specific role that isn't they caused the War. In fact I'd love if it subverts this theory. That the Aliens weren't trying to cause but prevent the Nuclear conflict believing that America the nation that has launched Atom Bombs at another nation (seemingly the first one they visited too) shouldn't have access to weapons of mass destruction. It would give them much needed nuance, keep the themes of the story intact, plus add more mystery to their intentions and experiments.
It be cool to see a zeta reference somewhere in the upcoming Star field game
Or in the outer worlds
A good video mate, digging this vibe. You take care dude, and merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you too!
I imagine that in-universe the name Zetans was probably invented for the comic books, and since they're still somewhat popular post-war (especially in vaults) that could be why the Lone Wanderer calls them that
I can see The Lone Wanderer doing that
always excited for a new upload, great stuff m8
Thanks for the upload !
Do you think there could be a connection between the aliens, the Enclave & Vault-tec, maybe they could be an X Files type of syndicate where the events of the Fallout games could be one large experiment?
What do you think?
@Nick Naylor Maybe this could an idea, the Enclave could have revers engineered tech from the Zetans and by way of having an entire country to R&D improved version of it compared to the the aliens who at best have two ships in orbit force the aliens to in a space version of the Cold War make an arrangement with them, The Enclave plant to go to the stars and in order to not destroy the aliens or themselves make a pact to co-exist, contracting Vault-tec to run the vault experiments to test space conditions among other things needed for space travel, the Enclave grant areas of the US form the for study, the Enclave build up requirements to counite after the Great War. but like in the X-files all three partners try and find ways to outdo or destroy the others Eg: destroy a Enclave outpost in Canada (F03 DLC) Aliens, Give as little funding to Vault-Tec for a full vault network Enclave & sending false data to the other groups after the war and using real data to take over the others Vault-Tec.
Your Thoughts?
*cue X-Files theme song*
@@sillybob9689 Who do you think could be the cigarette smoking man in Fallout out of all the characters in the lore?
Man these are great vids! Id love to see more
I wish in the future there's more with them, perhaps a more diplomatic approach to a quest involving them. I've been endlessly curious about them since Fo3, would love to learn more about them.
Maybe there could be a more piece full sect of zetans the player can meet and make that part f a quest line to heal the earth and save human civilization.
i cant be the only one who thinks the existance of aliens and the idea of them causing the war kinda ruins the atmosphere fallout had. I love how it feels when you realize that the world is like this because of humans. It is the fault of governments, they caused all the awful things that go on in the wasteland
The aliens in fallout are cool

Cool video! Merry Christmas!
The part @5:55 kind of reminds me of the Asgard species in the Stargate franchise (also based on the typical Greys look) who are clones of clones of clones ect going back millions of years, that have begun to suffer from major genetic degradations. Some of these aliens (especially one in particular named Loki) began experimenting on humans in the hopes of reversing this problem, as our bodies somewhat resemble theirs. The bodies that they produce however don't actually have any intelligence or consciousness - that gets transferred from their older clone body to the new one.
Loved Stargate back in the day!
I might have to watch stargate
Another amazing video!
The New Vegas recon ship can only be found with Wild Wasteland, which I thought was non-canon?
Wild Wasteland is full canon all other perks are kind of trash.
Doesn't really matter given the Recon Ship in the Commonwealth ten years later literally showcases the fact there's at least one other Mothership in Earth's orbit.
I really love that the zetans are apart of the fallout lore because it's fun to imagine them interacting and scaring the shit out of the innocent simple minded folk of pre-war America, it really gives you a 70's alien horror vibe similar to that movie mars attacks. I think an entire game could be centered around the zetans because they're just so interesting and cool and there's just so much you can do with them, it's really disappointing that they've barely even been used in the games
I really hope they add more of a zetan story or add on thing in the next fallout i love the zetans
Videos like this is why I’m subbed an hit the 🔔
Thanks for ringing that bell
I do wonder if the sonic invasion in one of New Vegas' slides is tied to them, since by that point they have developed sonic based technology
man those aliens look tough but that baby was terrifying good video now I won't sleep
Fly Away With Me! in New Vegas may be a reference to how the Zetans are evolved ghouls of some kind
Awesome! Hype
That's pretty interesting, as I didn't know of the UFO crash, and I am only 20 or so minutes from Hagerstown, MD.
Pretty interesting to hear a reference to a pretty small city.
I’d like to see Fallout 5 be a alien invasion of the wasteland set in Chicago.
I’ve always wondered what and where that large glowing spot on the earth was in this dlc glowing sea is possibly much bigger and actually a term for a large portion of the east coast?
I’m pretty sure it’s the sun’s reflection onto the Earth. It doesn’t happen except over oceans at least from what I’ve noticed in my time studying astronomy. Plus for some reason many people can’t see what we see on Earth in Mothership Zeta and I know for a fact we see the entire East Coast of the United States, starting probably Georgia from what I can see, to some of Canada’s Eastern Coast, and some of the Great Lakes. This is also confirmed by Bethesda saying if the death ray fires at Earth, it hits Algonquin National Park in Canada. Anyway I digress. But what I’m saying is based on the geography we can spot, the glowing spot is over the ocean, likely the Sun’s reflection. Many people say it’s a Glowing Sea but it likely isn’t. If there was a glowing sea that big I get a feeling we’d notice it’s effects in a lot of fallout games.

“WOW you don’t look anything like me at all, you must be bad then let me introduce you to the knuckle of my power armor.” This would be my interaction with them in fo3 and that one in 4
I like to think Zetans just use Humans as an experiment, subtedly nudging them into different directions. Like say.. war..
Zetans seem to have similar physiology to humans as well so they could use humans as a studying template for their race.

I really wanna see these guys in the Fallout tv series
My theory is they are looking for the Alien city mentioned in Fallout 4. Human technology is (mostly) not advanced enough to interest them and if they wanted to wipe us out they would have finished the job soon after the bombs dropped. They have to be looking for something. Getting the pre war governments out of their way probably helped but it wasn't their only goal
I think the aliens started the nuclear war
Nice theory btw
@@noahtylerpritchett2682 thanks the idea they were responsible for the great war only made sense if wiping us out wasn't their goal (as we're still around)

i love to explore more of the Aliens without having the wild wasteland perk or have you luck up i love the Mothership Zeta DLC but also found it (kinda pointless) i mean after this DLC we dont toucg upon them again like i said for FO4 if your Luck is over 10 you see a craft being "shot" down and encounter 1 Zetan Mr Cabbet from the Cabbet house believes in them and the people from that settlement in Nuka World wanted to "Go" there and they believe that the "Ride" is a Zetan craft but other than that they are a mysterious race that likes to kiddnap people from different points in the fallout timeline, these Zetans have been watching Earth for a very long time but the Zeta ship that The Lone Wanderer got taken to we dont know how long it was station above the Earth because we seen a Japanese Samurai Kago's armor is dated to the Azuchi-Momoyama period A.D. 1568-1603 and the symbol on his breastplate dates back to Heian period (A.D. 794-1185) and used to the current day i think Kago is the very oldest "alive" person from that time period thanks to the cryogenic tube he was put in
And too this day we still don't know what happened to the mothership. Is it still up there just floating around with Sally and crew still walking around it or did they decide to leave?

My first encounter with an alien was in Fallout 4 in the cave and I just stared at it while it kept shooting at me and then I hear a single “BWAM” and it was dead. Preston blew its face clean off! I could see it’s skull! So cool!
I’m scared where’s our story teller!!! I miss him sooo much also thank you for fallout lore we don’t get much these days but that will be a story …… for another day …
Was it ever mentioned which part of the earth the huge glowing crater is?
Whats the connection between zetans and the human civ precursors in fallout?
I think its suggested that the Zetans can travel through time. And is maybe trying to extract information from the ancestors of humanity who somehow created an intergalactic empire that they want to dig up information on so that they can fight it in the future.
Why would they wait to fight humanity in the future if they could wipe it as soon as possible?
What about the Flatwood Monsters from 76?
It's actually a Zetan too. One that is disabled due to a leg deformity and it moves around in the cool alien jetpack suit.
Pretty sure they are modified scouts
Always wanted to get a companion zataan
Sudenly, a 19 year wastelander appears.
I believe that there a somewhat peaceful somewhat not maybe their hostile because of past interactions with humanity
Isn’t it crazy that aliens are like real life real now
I hope the new show dabbles in the alien part of fallout.
What Bethesda should do is have a main focus on the aliens in the next game. They would be great antagonists, they have been built up ominously over the entire series and it only makes sense they are the final big bad
Imagine if they stick them in Starfield.
Why do I feel the Sea of Tranquility Conflict was fought against the Zetans

I loved this wholeheartedly

It seems as if we are just a test group for them to develope better technology perhaps to aid their wars with other advanced space-saving alian civilizations or splinter groups of their own.
Fallout 5: Seattle, WA.
DLC: Canada, Alaska, Wyoming, Montana.
My headcanon is that the Zetans aren't evil, they're just misunderstood. They have a negative connection with the aliens that built that mysterious city in the Arabian desert and are trying to either kill the Dunwich monster upon locating it or are trying to keep it from awaking should its powers be far too superior for them to stop. The Zetans themselves cannot be too close to areas where the monster and its unearthly beasts are, which is why their ships keep crashing in areas close to anything Dunwich related.
They know the monster's presence has an influence over the humans and has corrupted a great many of them, and from what we can gather from the Dunwich lore, it has corrupted those in power. The Zetans are only aggressive to humans because they do not whom was corrupted or how many, they can only run some tests, and the ones that turnout positive with the corruption become the abominations we see roaming the ship. Perhaps they're trying to reverse the corruption in humans or find ones that aren't corrupted to destroy the monster, hence (assuming you played as a good protagonist in F03) is why they put you and that woman in the same cell so they can use the good humans as vessels to take down the monster(s) once and for all. Sadly, your character interpreted the abduction as a danger and killed the aliens on board.
It also explains why they wanted the missle codes, perhaps to prevent humans from killing each other or to purge the Earth of all those that corrupted and were close to awakening the monster.

@@derekmensch3601 Hey there, sorry for responding to this 4 months late, but I can confirm that this claim is true, I believe it's the level ZAX is on, though I could be misremembering that part, at any rate it's pretty well hidden, look behind one of those stasis tanks for biological specimens, it's a shattered one, the alien skeleton will be to its left, hidden behind the tank because of the camera angle.
Honestly the best way to find it is to run Fallout Et Tu and use some mod like sfall or fo2 tweaks to highlight objects (like corpses) in a map, that's how I discovered it, had that function tied to a motion sensor that I turned on, and I saw the outline of a corpse identical to the alien skeletons found in the UFO random encounter, upon inspecting it there was some description that I forgot. I think it's pretty easter egg-ey, personally I like to subscribe to the idea that some of the technologies in Fallout were reverse engineered from alien tech, and this sort of thing supports that idea, but I wouldn't present it as concrete evidence.

If the motherships are primarily millitary vassals then they obviously don't know how to organize. I mean seriously they should have organized assaults from all parts of the ship to kill the player and the loose humans by they time he gets the others out of their cryo tube. It's as if they never prepared for a boarding of mass breakout.
I dont need a human baby to force me to like this video, I already did
The humanity destroyed it self before the Zetans could. Thus they didn't attack earth. And probably see the Humans as potential rivals. Waiting, that one day humanity will stand on it's feet once again. And try to fight the Zetans. Or they perhaps need the Humans for something else.
