Edit: forgot the obligatory thank you datto for helping me with so many raids and enabling me to help my friend enjoy some raids
Note for Golgoroth, the Unstable Light explosion deals significant damage to Golgoroth himself. This is why the go-to place for the debuff is underneath him.
I'm not sure if this is a bug or "feature", but you may have to be careful with the timing as yesterday one of our teammate ran to Golgoroth as soon as he got the unstable light buff and it turned into the direction of that player instead of looking at the player holding its gaze. I think the explosion itself does like 5% of its health so doing 6 orbs in a phase means you can take almost third of its health without firing a shot.
According to my day 2 teammates, you need a total of 200 Deathsinger's Power to open up the door to the Warpriest. We also had more success (on contest mode specifically) not worrying about farming more power, just rotating the buff and moving on with the fight. Totems is an obscenely easy encounter without contest mode handicapping you, though.
@@proassassin8473 there doesnt seem to be a cap, its just often not practical going over 30 because it will slow down rotations, especially when youre running challenge
It's "100 per side", like the original, but in this I don't think it actually matters what side Deathsinger's Power comes from, meaning one side can carry on kills. But this may be something that's enforced on master.

I literally studied this video, then went to explain it to my friends and we successfully recked oryx. thank you so much for your very clear explanation AND OH MY GOD SUBTITLES!
A note on the Blightguards in the Warpriest encounter: The Blightguards will only spawn on a side if the last plate stepped on wasn't on that side. For example, if the last plate to be stepped to get the buff was middle, then Blightguards will only spawn on left and right. A note on Unstable Light For Golgoroth: I think it was a rumor back in the day that standing next to Golgoroth with unstable light did damage to him. As far as I was aware it was proven false, but it is definitely true now. Stand next to Golg when Unstable Light Explodes and it will damage him. For the daughters encounter we found Ghorn and rockets were much better because of their crit constnaly moving. Chunks them down very quickly. For Oryx, we usually go into bombs right when slams his fist as an easy queue. If the timing is the same as D1, then it takes about 4 seconds to detonate a bomb, and additional 6ish to explode. So 10 seconds from when slams the plate the bombs should be exploding, which gives enough time for him to start his clap attack.
That note about Warpriest Blightguards is incorrect, I had multiple times during day 1 where the third plate was left and the knight immediately started spawning right there on left
We paid attention to this every time we did, and we were there for hours. Im 100% certain you're mistaken as we had this as a part of our strat the whole time. Not to mention, I haven't seen a single video of what you're claiming happening either. It's near impossible that every one of our attempts and every video I've watched wouldn't have at least one instance of what you're claiming.
Do you happen to also know if the damage numbers from gaze grabbers in golgoroth is accurate? I was doing 700k+ on golgoroths back and consistently doing more damage than teammates
@@ultimate3885 I paid attention to it every time too, I was the one on my team who killed the first knight, every time, I was on left, every time, and I know that there were multiple times where my buddy on left stepped on third plate and the knight spawned right beside us
This is why I rather watch dattos guides, he’s actually more specific on things keep up the good work. Khakis on the other hand would make a whole 1 hour guide for no reason lmaoo.
Way to make me feel old. I remember watching his world first attempt during the original release, I tuned in on the bus home from high school. He was using the old gun Fabian Strategy and I was so confused on what the gun was lol.
a better suggestion for solar hunters would be Young Ahamkara’s spine, for the sake of more consistent ability generation (also tripmines don’t damage yourself with the exotic equipped unlike explosive throwing knives) also grenade elemental wells are cheaper energy-wise
We got stuck on the damn Warpriest for so damn long. The ammo and damage phase was very finnicky for us to figure out. As we had one person run around with Aeon's to scour the map for any ammo we could find. Still got it down though! Great vid as always Datto.
One thing to note about Unstable Light during Golgoroth: the explosion from the debuff will cause about 600k damage to him if you stand right next to him.
Great guide. Succinct, concise, and practical for the majority of styles, and I really appreciate the Font of Might mention. Back in the day, I did play the D1 version, but I needed this refresher after getting halfway in D2's first 24 hours since we got caught in a Wipe Mechanic upon Totem Completion (Endless Death Spawn Glitch) and our team composition had only 2 Wells. Looking forward to trying Normal mode and Master version at some point in the future.... Which reminds me...Will Kings Fall have Adept/Timelost Versions of its Weapons. Considering their capabilities and crafting options, that gives me mixed feelings for when I see them in Crucible. In any case, thanks again. And Congrats on that 9th Win! You are the TRUE members of The Nine that Xur always mentions!!!
For golgoroth, arc hunters are also a great choice. I was going insane with add clear by jolt punching literally everything. And like you said, this was contest mode. So on normal you'll definitely have no problem clearing things out
something to note about blightguards in warpriest, they will only spawn on the sides that the first two plates in the sequence are, and in the order they were in. i.e. the order was left, middle, right, the blightguards will spawn first on left, then in middle. recommend having the plate-steppers stay on their sides until the blightguard spawns, or at least having the second plate-stepper in the sequence come and do a bit of damage before dipping to get the blightguard
Tip for all you warlock mains, starfire works hilariously well against oryx and even against golgoroth, I recommend a witherhoard or an osteo striga for tick damage and juggle between fusion grenades and linear shots, I did just short of 5 million on oryx and still had ammo to spare, though we did wipe because a certain clan mate of mine didn’t detonate his blights lmao
Small hint, in golgoroth the taunters can use the attention shots to do damage, his back crit takes lot of damage, about 700k in a honed edge x4(celestial can do 999k), so using whatever does the most damage on one shot seems a good idea since you are not DPSing anyway Edit: nevermind, this damage is not to his health :(
Unfortunately that weak-spot damage doesn't take anything off its health bar, we've even tested with firing a celestial goldie into it (the damage display capped at 999999) and the health bar didn't move a bit so it's entirely disconnected from the boss' hp. So the best you could do if you're the gaze holder and you had the 5th round is to jump into the pit and do damage from there, otherwise you are not doing any real damage to Golgoroth while the other player holds it for the last round.
I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the Day 1 experience. I hope that's a video we get soon. I know from my perspective, Warpriest felt FAR too overtuned. The only possible way to beat him was with nothing short of perfect linear fusions, aeons, and perfect mechanic execution. It took my fireteam 12hrs to get the stars to align despite having the mechanic execution near perfect 4hrs in. Only 4 of us had perfect LFRs and we were running double aeon's; still couldn't get the last sliver with perfect execution on Contest.
Nice video. Extra map marker on Warpriest Enemy spawns behind/beside you on the outside would be good, those caught us out sometimes. Golgoroth "Maze" Map would be helpful to have added in between the segments too. Grats on your finish!
If it is similar to D1, with Golgoroth I would recommend having a hunter who can dodge a lot for his orbs. I remember in D1 you could dodge and the poison orbs that fly at you lose their target and just wander off instead of homing in on you. Golgy would still keep his gaze, but his death orbs would just lose their target and hit the walls and such. Might be something to test
Honestly the mechanical changes are great but they are kneecapped by the low boss HP, low enemy HP, and just the overall insane survivability guardians have now. I really enjoy how Oryx has a true execute phase now though.
Something to note about "exploding light" debuff, I'm not sure if this is intentional or a bug, but you KEEP your damage buff from the goop while you have the debuff. So whether you run up to golgy or run off to the side, you can keep doing full goop damage, don;t stop shooting just because you have exploding light.
Much like the world's 2nd meme, the raid music defines you my guy. Own it or it will destroy you ❤ love the guide for the whole thing being in one place btw
Little top for warpruest. The blightkeepers always spawn on the first 2 plates stepped on. No need to hunt them. And the second one always spawns after the first is killed. And on totems the red bar knights don't give deaths deathsinger power. And golgaroth, gaze grabbers can use izzy for huge damage, off contest at 1577 I was hitting over a million per shot. Heavy machine gun for darts. Also the unstable light explosion does significant damage to golgy
Oh datto. Nothing will ever make us tired of the raid guide music.

@@thebakery3802 Because Rivens entire fight has been cheesed since launch. To this day I only know the cheese strat because no one does it legit.
Already beat the raid but cant skip the best music and guides on youtube.
A note on the Blightguards in the Warpriest encounter:
The Blightguards will only spawn on a side if the last plate stepped on wasn't on that side. For example, if the last plate to be stepped to get the buff was middle, then Blightguards will only spawn on left and right.
A note on Unstable Light For Golgoroth:
I think it was a rumor back in the day that standing next to Golgoroth with unstable light did damage to him.
Damage done to the back doesnt count towards his health just like d1. Itd be way too easy otherwise
@@ultimate3885 I paid attention to it every time too, I was the one on my team who killed the first knight, every time, I was on left, every time, and I know that there were multiple times where my buddy on left stepped on third plate and the knight spawned right beside us
You put a lot of work into this in such a short amount of time. Great work.
and doing it again in d2, reminded me of why i love this raid so much and why it is my favorite raid. i enjoy running it so much
This is why I rather watch dattos guides, he’s actually more specific on things keep up the good work. Khakis on the other hand would make a whole 1 hour guide for no reason lmaoo.
24:20 Unstable Light actually does damage to Gologoroth, and quite a bit at that. Run at the boss for FREE DAMAGE
Way to make me feel old. I remember watching his world first attempt during the original release, I tuned in on the bus home from high school. He was using the old gun Fabian Strategy and I was so confused on what the gun was lol.
I was not expecting a guide this fast. Nice work!
a better suggestion for solar hunters would be Young Ahamkara’s spine, for the sake of more consistent ability generation (also tripmines don’t damage yourself with the exotic equipped unlike explosive throwing knives) also grenade elemental wells are cheaper energy-wise
^ bump
Great suggestion
We got stuck on the damn Warpriest for so damn long. The ammo and damage phase was very finnicky for us to figure out. As we had one person run around with Aeon's to scour the map for any ammo we could find. Still got it down though! Great vid as always Datto.
One thing to note about Unstable Light during Golgoroth: the explosion from the debuff will cause about 600k damage to him if you stand right next to him.
This guide was awesome. It’s great having them bring these raids back… bring on Wrath!
wrath is never coming to D2 lol
@@dedbetter I hope it does because it's a great raid
Given how great they did with this raid, I'm super excited to see how they handle WotM
They made this raid so much better with these changes, I’ll actually play this one a bunch when it was a forced 4 phase it was so boring
Can't wait for Datto to make the raid difficulty into Grand master by adding 2 modifiers. Jez and Danielle.
For golgoroth, arc hunters are also a great choice. I was going insane with add clear by jolt punching literally everything. And like you said, this was contest mode. So on normal you'll definitely have no problem clearing things out
Great breakdown, so glad that King's Fall has returned. Easily my favorite raid of all time
It's one of my favorites easily
I already know the entire raid like the back of my hand, but I had to watch the vid for that classic raid guide music
I have not played destiny 2 for like 2-3 years and I actually might start playing it again just for this
Thank god, now I can actually look kinda smart in front of my clan
Music is First to Last by Gunnar Olsen. Thank you for yet another classic video Datto.
Datto raid guides always keep me coming back for more. ❤️
something to note about blightguards in warpriest, they will only spawn on the sides that the first two plates in the sequence are, and in the order they were in. i.e. the order was left, middle, right, the blightguards will spawn first on left, then in middle.
recommend having the plate-steppers stay on their sides until the blightguard spawns, or at least having the second plate-stepper in the sequence come and do a bit of damage before dipping to get the blightguard
My team sometimes had knights spawning from the second plate first, so the order isn’t set.
Tip for all you warlock mains, starfire works hilariously well against oryx and even against golgoroth, I recommend a witherhoard or an osteo striga for tick damage and juggle between fusion grenades and linear shots, I did just short of 5 million on oryx and still had ammo to spare, though we did wipe because a certain clan mate of mine didn’t detonate his blights lmao
something about the raid guide music just keeps me sane
I already know how to do this raid, but watching this anyway for that sweet sweet music and nostalgia!
At this point I’m just here for the music! The guide was also handy!
Can confirm , after 42 minutes, I still love he raid guide music!
Bungie should just put Datto's guide music into the ligthfall raid at this point
30:58 I love the irony of Datto saying "It's time to slay out" vs the gameplay vid where he gets yeeted
I'm actually happy they didn't throw champions into every encounter thank you bungie for making a raid actually fun
Ah, there it is. Now I can raid in true serenity, with Datto Raid Music.
Small hint, in golgoroth the taunters can use the attention shots to do damage, his back crit takes lot of damage, about 700k in a honed edge x4(celestial can do 999k), so using whatever does the most damage on one shot seems a good idea since you are not DPSing anyway
Edit: nevermind, this damage is not to his health :(
Unfortunately that weak-spot damage doesn't take anything off its health bar, we've even tested with firing a celestial goldie into it (the damage display capped at 999999) and the health bar didn't move a bit so it's entirely disconnected from the boss' hp. So the best you could do if you're the gaze holder and you had the 5th round is to jump into the pit and do damage from there, otherwise you are not doing any real damage to Golgoroth while the other player holds it for the last round.
@@johnnywokerOh, thats a shame then, thanks for the clarification
Grats on your finish!
nice, a new extended cut of the raid video music. thanks datto!
This raid is serious making me consider going on LFG
Do it!!! The first few weeksa re the best time to find chill teams doing it for the first time
Acting like we're ever getting tired of the raid guide music, you're not getting away that easily
Everyone has to know how to Run. This will go great on LFG
Hope you're being sarcastic lol
If it is similar to D1, with Golgoroth I would recommend having a hunter who can dodge a lot for his orbs. I remember in D1 you could dodge and the poison orbs that fly at you lose their target and just wander off instead of homing in on you. Golgy would still keep his gaze, but his death orbs would just lose their target and hit the walls and such. Might be something to test
THE RAID GUIDE MUSIC RETURNS!!! LETS GOOOOOO
Rising Storm is AMAZING for killing the shade of oryx, constantly damages him even when you cant see him basically one shotting it
THE MUSIC IS BACK BABY 🤘🏼 love you so much datto thanks for always bringing the amazing content ❤️
Did day one challenge mode plus 4 more runs for all triumphs and im still here for the raid guide music
That raid music always makes me happy to hear
Even though I already watched a guide, I came here for the music
Much like the world's 2nd meme, the raid music defines you my guy. Own it or it will destroy you ❤ love the guide for the whole thing being in one place btw
Jokes on you Datto, I love the raid guide music you use. That shit is hella iconic at this point.
Man I managed to get the day one emblem and I'm SO SO HAPPY gonna watch this guide anyway but like man this raid is SOOO GOOD
That raid music brings back memories. ❤️
