The guitar really does sound awesome, but that mini-toggle switch actually IS a coil-splitting toggle, and the pickup voicings are activated via the Push/Pull function on the knob, LOL! Liked the video, though ;P
This is one of the few RG models I would actually get because it doesn't have a knob literally directly next to the pick up. My hand always hits them and I can't stand it, deleted the top one from my Stratocaster. LoL
Hell yea, me too! Had my Strat modded so the volume is on the opposite side near the horn. I removed the knob but I'll occasionally still hit the pot while rocking out :)
This is definitely an awesome guitar. I wish it came with a Ibanez floating bridge or maybe even an Evertune bridge. I do not care fo plastic nuts and wish it had a locking metal nut. If I would have known it was factory tuned to D Standard, I would have bought this instead of my Ibanez Weathered Black Prestige guitar. In all honesty, I did not even know it was a 26.5 inch neck. All I know is that I picked it up in Guitar Center in Kansas City and decided to pass on it due to the FIshmen Pickups. I had a pair of those in a Jackson guitar and did not like them. I was never a fan of active pickups. The battery burns out too fast. Getting back to the main selling point on this guitar, it is the D Standard 26.5 inch scale length. You should be able to drop down to C Standard with ease or you could just play in D Standard which is fine with me.
Love the look and sound, but the susceptibility to fingerprints on that glossy black body is enough to give me serious doubts about purchasing one. You can see fingerprints all over in the video. They should've done a satin finish on the body.
The specs say its ebony, but It really doesnt look like ebony, at least not that dark one we are used to. It also seems more grainy than the usual ebony
A lot of manufacturers were dyeing the ebony black for years. People began to say wait a minute we just want to see the wood, lets not fake it. What you're seeing there is actually the real color of ebony.

I just bought it and tune it standard E, well coming from 9's gauge then going to 10s in standard is bit odd for me, the tension is stiff and very to do a full bend 😅
The switch below the Volume knob is for coil-tapping on this model. Voice switcher is on the push-pull Volume knob.
That mini-toggle is a coil tap though, the volume knob is a push/pull that toggles pickup voices. That's what Ibanez says anyway.
It is a coil tap, the volume is the push/pull for the 2 voices. That toggle is for coil splitting.
I’m a bass guy but Ibanez seems to be the king of the ripper style of guitar 👍

It's a pity the RGD body style is exclusive to extended scale guitars as it looks amazing, especially in that colour.
It's a pitty that there is no S series in extended scale also :(
