The USAF 720th Fighter Bomber Squadron formed the Arctic Gladiators team in June 1954. The display team consisted of four F-86F Sabre aircraft, which all carried the squadrons silver and red colour scheme, plus extra markings.
The display team lasted just 10 years when it came to an end in 1955.

Airfix is stepping up their game; putting out kits with good subjects, and very good to excellent molding. Airfix is catching up with Tamiya, finally!!! 👍
Couldn't agree more!
Canadian "Golden Hawks" is one of the best air demonstration liveries on an F-86 I've seen...
ill have to look at them.. sound interesting. Thank you @steveharrigan7811 for leaving a comment. Please subscribe if you haven't as yet.. It really helps the channel grow.
Got notification that my kit is now at Airfix (with coin) being prepared for delivery, can’t wait to get my hands on it.
@@allandavis8201 yep.. money taken and want that coin in my collection :)
Canadair Sabre Kicks Ass. Golden Hawks, now that's cool eh🤣 All jokes aside, it's a great looking kit! Congratulations Airfix!!!

A nice little release that I admit, I'm very tempted by! Got to give Airfix credit, in that the majority of their decal schemes, not just with this kit but in general, do tend to be quite different, or at least have a good selection of schemes within a kit.
Since returning to the hobby, I have to admit that I've been very impressed with a lot of what Airfix have done with the business. Maybe they're not perfect in some ways but over all, I feel they're heading in the right direction.
As always Many thanks to yourself MOS for keeping us updated. 👍👍
deffo in the right direction... cant wait till telford...
Looks like a nice kit Mos, like the display markings .

I got an Email from Airfix this morning my pre ordered with coin is processed already . I’m new to Modelling this will be my second kit lol 😂 I’ve spent a fortune on various tools from Tamiya I’m ordering kits like a mad man my stash is huge already lol 😂 I’m 64 retired and after watching your Chanel and others it’s given me the Inspiration to start this hobby in a huge way. Thank you so much. My bank account doesn’t like it though 😂
Good luck! we like to see people coming back to the hobby.. if you need any advice please ask
@@MOS6510Models thank you so much 😊
I'm in exactly the same position as you and the same age too. I'm nearing the end of my first build in 50 years and have come to the realisation that I'm going to have to sell a bunch of my newly acquired stash as 1/72 really doesn't work well for old farts. Mos also moderates a very good and helpful Facebook group that you should join. He's a very helpful guy and sorted out a problem for me very quickly a couple of days ago. Great bunch of modelers that are full of knowledge and advice.
I was excited when I heard there was about to be a new release - but it's only a 'new parts' (wings I presume) re-release. Hopefully something tasty coming for Telford.
i think you are right about telford :)
@@MOS6510Models 1/48 Jaguar PLEASE!
@@FinsburyPhil
I suspect a 1/24 Mustang which appears to be scheduled for “autumn.”
Z
@@ZinzanModelling ah, interesting. You appear to be in the know?! Although not another Spitfire, I'm guessing that the Airfix bashers will still call it 'predictable' and 'unadventurous'.
@@FinsburyPhil
I only know from Airfix themselves!! I can’t boast any preferred knowledge, conferences with the grown ups at Hornby! We shall see if my prognostications are correct eh? If they are then I will nod sagely and be ever so slightly smug!!

Does look nice as a display team
I agree :) Thank you @markshellard5894 for leaving a comment. Please subscribe if you haven't as yet.. It really helps the channel grow.
I wish Airfix would release new kits not just re-release the same kits with new decals..maybe a 1/48 scale Jaguar in Cold War markings. It would be a big hit
they have release over 26 new tools over the last 3 years... more than most
Well, it will be very interesting to compare with the ClearProp Sabre in 1/48.
thats quite an advanced kit which is 20 quid more in price i believe.. ive seen it at model shows for 66 pounds!!
Great color scheme. I didn't even know this aerobatic team existed, and I'm in the US. I've got the previous release of this kit in the Norwegian markings. Might have to swap it for this one.
Hope you enjoy it!
Supposedly the first aircraft to break mach 1 although it was in a dive and rarely recoverable. There is also an urban myth that in a full power dive if it fired it's guns that it would shoot itself down (but as the muzzle velocity of the .5 cal is approx 1800mph it's extremely unlikely).
its was proper fast for the time
Manston, so Airfix's local
very true
Would be interested in a few more aerobatic schemes,
so would I... a bearcat blue angel please lol
Wow, this looks awesome now for some new korean war aftermarket decal sheets please.

Love the airteam scheme, and its a rare one. I collect a lot of worldwide Team models, and never saw this one. Buts its NOT in the True scale, 1/72, aw shucks.
haha thats another argument
Holy crap....they released something as a surprise that is NOT another spitfire
spitfires sell :)
@MOS6510Models not everyone buys them or is a fan....while it might sell im actually sick to the back teeth of spitfires from airfix if i am being honest and im not the only one who feels like that.
@@jaws848 I'm on the fence Jaws. Am I fed up of Spitfires? Yes. Do I understand the /business case/ (and whether I like it or not Airfix is in business to make money)? Also Yes. Those who like Spitfires outnumber those who don't quite heavily, so Airfix sell them.
@julianmhall i get that but i dont need a "new" variant of it every 5 minutes....the 109 is an iconic german aircraft but you dont see Revell turning them out to the same rate Airfix do with the spitfire...infact i would say even Airfix are putting more of them out than Revell....would it really kill Airfix to do something like a jaguar or Tornado instead of just re releasing the same kits over and over with simply different decals or a retool of an exsisting kit just to get a different variant of it while claiming it is "new"
@jaws848 Your spot, you are not the only one. All you get to hear is they sell, YES WE KNOW THAT! But Airfix is not the only one doing Spits,Hurricanes,109s or P51s on mass,it just bores me to death about this hobby.
The only issue I have with this model is one tiny detail, The red ejection seat triangle, I don't know if the USAF had that warning until the 1960s. The RAF did, but I am not sure about teh USAF in the 1950s using that Ejection Seat warning
good spot.. i guess you can not apply that decal...
A the North American Messerschmitt lovely!!!
good shout lol
Smart move by Airfix to include both British /and/ US interests albeit the UK interest is just a US squadron based in the UK. That way they can sell both sides of the Pond.
*OUCH* at the price. I liked it up to that point. That's $55.39. OK it's 1:48 but I think that's still a tad salty. Is the price less without the coin once they stop doing them?
Are those markings all decals? They look like they'd be tricky to apply.
Incidentally I'm confused by Airfix' Shop. For Scale they have both '1:48 Scale' and '1:48'. Also they have '1:72' and '1:72 Scale' and '1:24' and '1:24 Scale'. What's the difference? Why two each?
to help the search algorithms... a lot of websites do that now so it appears on google search
Looks like a interesting kit to buy Mos
agreed
Tbe surprise is, it's not another bloody Spitfire😅
i think thats the last of the spitfires... for this year lol
If it was 1/72 i would be all over it....due to space restrictions i don't build bigger than1/72 but its nice all the same
they do a 1/72 scale sabre i believe
@@MOS6510Models airfix?.....not at the moment.....just checked their website an no 1/72 sabre listed....closest thing is the Mig-17
They did a few years ago, about 2012 I think, just not current at the moment.
@MCT954 thats my piont....2012.......12 years ago......well over due
There are 6 .50 calibers in the nose. 3 on each side.
i didnt know that
It looks like early F-86F-30, sorry it is 1/48. Prefer 1/72
interesting.. maybe we will see it
Generally do you prefer 1/48 scale? Or 1/72 ?
both.. nothing bigger in planes
@@MOS6510Models unless of course its a 1/24 scale Spitfire 😉
Not for me but I'm sure some will love it
agreed
Sadly not a "new tool" announcement...
i think there will be one more
Meh. Already good Sabres out there. Can they not do something that's never been released?? 1/48 Puma to start or a decent 1/48 Gazelle
Would be nice.....btw heller have a 1/48 Gazelle in their line up
They do but it's not great and closer to 1/50th
1/48 Wasp,
@St-lb8yy close enough....after all airfix did diorama sets with 1/72 aircraft and 1/76 vechiles and figures
its been a good seller for them.. besides its catering to the display team market which is overlooked..
Ooooooooooo
tidy isnt it
@@MOS6510Models yeah!!!
Bit of a curve ball, nice release
under represented in the model world.. more teams please
So no new releases for the rest of this year from Airfix …. Lame
As far as airplanes are concerned they haven't released anything new for quite some time....their "new" releases over the last few years have been nothing but reboxes of kits they already have but with different decal sheets, retools of kits that again they already have to make a different version or a vintage classic release that they have had the toolongs for for decades so yes.....nothing truly "new"
@jaws848 Seriously??? they have released 15 new tools just in aircraft alone in the last 3 years!!

@@MOS6510Modelsthis is nothing…. They should be releasing 15 new tools per year, otherwise Airfix will close… how can they compete with ICM, Chinese companies if they only release 5 new tools per year, plus each year seems less and less
