It depends on how you define middle class. Someone pulling in $1,000,000 a year but have friends who make 10x more a year might describe themselves as middle class. People take liberties for sure. For me, no not middle class lol

A typical person with an average salary would own a significantly more modest home, if they could even get into a position to purchase a house. I consider myself lucky being able to get into my home back in 2016 before things spiraled quickly out of control.

Since they have four young daughters they have spaces for them to play and hang out separate from the more formal living areas. She mentioned they have guests frequently so it probably makes sense to have a guest house. A powder room is another name for a half bath, just sink and toilet. She has two washers and two dryers, unlike European machines where one machine both washes and dries. It sounds like some items in their house have been owned for a long time or belonged to older generations. I’m pretty sure she has either a housekeeper or a cleaning service that comes in weekly to clean.
In the kitchen, over the stove, the extra faucet is called a 'pot filler'... so if you need to make soup or whatever with a lot of water (which would be heavy) then you don't have to move the pot over to the island and back to the stove. You don't have to lift it. Powder room is a half bath ... just a toilet and sink. This is a wealthy house. But not like CEO wealthy. Just upper middle class to wealthy class wealthy... maybe he's a lawyer or doctor and she's an interior designer.

It depends on in they live in the Raleigh area or Charlotte area then it isn't so cheap. This renovation that she did is top notch and this is over 1 million home.
This house is very well designed, beautifully decorated and thoughtfully finished. It is also staged for this video tour, showing it in its best light. This is an above average house for someone who makes a good living, but it is hardly a rich person's house. She has a very good sense of style and they have decorated it very nicely, which makes the house feel warm, clean and very inviting. The owners could be well educated, have their own business, be someone in the medical field or some other well paying job. I doubt they are corrupt. Haha! 😃
I would disagree with the first part of your comment... this home must be worth millions. Definitely not something even upper-middle class folks could afford. I know someone who owns a medical supply company, and she's absolutely loaded. Works hard though!

Going along with the house theme you should check out Adventures of Matt and Nat’s video of the Biltmore Estates it’s close to where I live and really amazing. They tell you a good overview about the property and at least talk about the amount of different things you can do there. Their other video that is titled Weekend in the Great Smoky Mountains is a great example of my favorite areas to visit in the whole of the USA but especially the southeastern region.

You can be middle class and still have a house keeper/cleaner. Maybe not a fulltime house keeper but you can still have them come every week for an hour or two. in my area its $20 for 1 hour (each hour after is $20) of cleaning so getting it done once a week for 1-2 hours isn't that costly. It the same cost as going out to a restaurant to eat with friends.

Housing prices depends on what part of the country you live in. I’m in coastal Southern California and my home is about 2,000 sq ft, worth almost a million! Go to Texas or another state, and my house would be probably about $250,000. So, her home could well be average to upper middle class.

A separate building for a GUEST house and a gym? ... most people might have a guest ROOM ... and a separate room or area in their home for a few pieces of workout equipment. And that kitchen?!! We could only hope for a kitchen like that, like you mentioned 'marble' WOW. That is beautiful and very very expensive. But that faucet above the stove? Yes that is a "pot filler faucet" and it can be pulled outwards and moved around to fill any pot on any of those burners on the stove. My husband & I have a small house but we just redid our kitchen and we added plumbing to have one of those put in above our stove. Now, she is going to redecorate again in 6 months? ...most people might 'redo' their kitchen, or makeover their bathroom ... about once every 10 years or so. LOL!! This is definitely not your typical American home. Not to say that a lot of people might live this way, of course. Everything related to living expenses is related to WHERE in the US that you live. Large, urban, city outskirts, these would be rich homes, especially any coastal regions…probably in the millions. Many regions, especially the south, have similar homes (minus the guest house) that are anywhere between $350K - $850K, which is not considered rich, but upper middle class. In lots of areas, you can find very affordable homes between $250-$350K, your average middle class. This used to be $195K-$250K just five years ago, but inflation and socialism is weeding out the middle class quickly. One of the factors that would jack up any home is the high-end decor and fixtures. Most rich people aren’t necessarily corrupt, unless you’re in the political, legal, entertainment, or media industry. Then, it’s 50/50. Depending on whether you have conservative values or liberal views. It all depends on those things. Power and money can easily corrupt, but it all depends on your beliefs and values.
Pretty soon the "average" American home will be a two-bedroom, one-bath apartment... home ownership is becoming a pipe dream for most. Even renting is hard! You will eat the bugs, you will own nothing, and you will be happy.
Their income is high upper class or low millionaire. It's not corrupt. They just work smart and hard. Most likely, they pay someone to come in to clean. Even middle class call a house cleaner to come in a few times a week because they are too busy. Most of us, have after work activities.
The powder bathroom's she's talking about are half bathrooms. They contain only a toilet and sink and tend to go in areas where you have guests visiting. You don't need a whole bathroom for guests who are just visiting for the day.
I'd say that this is definitely the home of a wealthy person/family if in California or the North East, But could be upper middle class any where else. Also, there are quite a lot of people in the US who do things themselves. Not sure if this is the situation for this gal, but if so, I wouldn't be surprised if she were an Interior Designer or if they've bought the home cheaper with the intention of doing renovations themselves. I've done this myself and you end up with a very nice, more personalized home for less this way. Since your'e investing more of your effort, time and knowledge into the home that you'd normally pay someone else for, you end up getting more for your money. In the kitchen you were wondering what the gadget above the stove is. It's a faucet that is specifically for filling large pots with water for pasta, kettles, etc. . Also, there are many wealthy women here who run their own businesses, so she could actually be independently wealthy or making a significant contribution to the overall household income 😊

Yes, this one is definitely more of a wealthy person's house. The average house in the USA is not this lavish. It is possible for a middle class couple to have a house like this if they have a retired, dual income and live in a state like West Virginia, Alabama, or Texas. But you could not have a house like this in New York, California, Florida, or Pennsylvania without being rich.
Ya no this is not how most Americans live. Even when people have money sometimes they like a one level smaller house especially as people age. Stairs are not fun when your old. This is wealthy young family kind of thing. It's a little showy. Honestly some people just sell the house and travel after a lifetime of work. Some people live on a boat. Some people live in an RV or get a cabin or tiny house. People really need to think of there long term life and health when buying a home. First your young with kids then your alone and old. A house needs to work for every stage of that unless your flipping houses. House flipping is very common here.

Everything related to living expenses is related to WHERE in the US that you live. Large, urban, city outskirts, these would be rich homes, especially any coastal regions…probably in the millions. Many regions, especially the south, have similar homes (minus the guest house) that are anywhere between $350K - $850K, which is not considered rich, but upper middle class. In lots of areas, you can find very affordable homes between $250-$350K, your average middle class. This used to be $195K-$250K just five years ago, but inflation and socialism is weeding out the middle class quickly. One of the factors that would jack up any home is the high-end decor and fixtures. Most rich people aren’t necessarily corrupt, unless you’re in the political, legal, entertainment, or media industry. Then, it’s 50/50. Depending on whether you have conservative values or liberal views. It all depends on those things. Power and money can easily corrupt, but it all depends on your beliefs and values.
Pretty soon the "average" American home will be a two-bedroom, one-bath apartment... home ownership is becoming a pipe dream for most. Even renting is hard! You will eat the bugs, you will own nothing, and you will be happy.
Their income is high upper class or low millionaire. It's not corrupt. They just work smart and hard. Most likely, they pay someone to come in to clean. Even middle class call a house cleaner to come in a few times a week because they are too busy. Most of us, have after work activities.
The powder bathroom's she's talking about are half bathrooms. They contain only a toilet and sink and tend to go in areas where you have guests visiting. You don't need a whole bathroom for guests who are just visiting for the day.

I'd say that this is definitely the home of a wealthy person/family if in California or the North East, But could be upper middle class any where else. Also, there are quite a lot of people in the US who do things themselves. Not sure if this is the situation for this gal, but if so, I wouldn't be surprised if she were an Interior Designer or if they've bought the home cheaper with the intention of doing renovations themselves. I've done this myself and you end up with a very nice, more personalized home for less this way. Since your'e investing more of your effort, time and knowledge into the home that you'd normally pay someone else for, you end up getting more for your money. In the kitchen you were wondering what the gadget above the stove is. It's a faucet that is specifically for filling large pots with water for pasta, kettles, etc. . Also, there are many wealthy women here who run their own businesses, so she could actually be independently wealthy or making a significant contribution to the overall household income 😊

Yes, this one is definitely more of a wealthy person's house. The average house in the USA is not this lavish. It is possible for a middle class couple to have a house like this if they have a retired, dual income and live in a state like West Virginia, Alabama, or Texas. But you could not have a house like this in New York, California, Florida, or Pennsylvania without being rich.

Ya no this is not how most Americans live. Even when people have money sometimes they like a one level smaller house especially as people age. Stairs are not fun when your old. This is wealthy young family kind of thing. It's a little showy. Honestly some people just sell the house and travel after a lifetime of work. Some people live on a boat. Some people live in an RV or get a cabin or tiny house. People really need to think of there long term life and health when buying a home. First your young with kids then your alone and old. A house needs to work for every stage of that unless your flipping houses. House flipping is very common here.

You are very wrong, there are plenty of middle class families and homes including me and my extended family. This may be your situation/experience but don’t draw such sweeping generalizations for the entire country.
@@GDM-f4isuch a large nation is impossible to generalize, what one area has may be vastly different from another. If this was an L.A. house, they're millionaires, if this was in Kansas they might both have decent jobs (certified engineer and a good realtor could probably manage this)
