You two ladies are so sweet. My house could probably fit in his kitchen lol. I'm sure he has a high level career so he can have such luxury and I can't blame him. He really has done a beautiful job, I love that front room and yard!

This is much larger than my house and many American homes. I suspect it is in an affluent area. I live about 35 miles west of Boston in a town of about 14,000. When my family moved here 40 something years ago, it was very blue collar/ middle class. It was a combination of old homes (100- to 300-years old) and smaller mid-century homes. Kids shared bedrooms and closets, unlike today when it seems every child has his or her own bedroom. There was usually one bathroom for the whole family and sometimes a half-bath. That is a bathroom with only toilet and sink.
Over the past 20 years this town has become more affluent with most new homes being built quite large.
My house is about 1,100 square feet, as are most houses in our neighborhood of about 80 homes. We have three small bedrooms, a small kitchen which does not have space for a table. There is a dining area
with space enough for a table that seats 6. We also have a den,/tv room which is being used as a 4th bedroom. We have a basement that is used for washing machine, dryer, and shelves for storage, furnace and hot water heater.
Our yard is not obsessively mowed and groomed.. In fact, a portion of the back yard is not mowed at all. We let it be overgrown to provide food and shelter for wildlife as well as wild flowers. A few others in the neighborhood do the same. We don’t clear all the fallen leaves from the ground in autumn. Leaves provide winter habitat for insects and invertebrates.
I think tv and movies give the impression that Americans all live in big, shiny houses with huge refrigerators and huge stoves. Not the case.

@@KTKacer Very. Although I have cousins who are far from affluent near New London.

And one on some of the smallest. ;) Tho the smallest ones in Japan are kinda more fun to see, imo.
