Gunne Sax floor length prom dresses were the gold standard! We all wanted them, but they ran 70 or 80 bucks back then, which for many parents was simply beyond what was reasonable.
I loved gunny sack dresses! I wore quite a few as a teenager!❤
Me also & my wedding outfit a white skirt & blouse were Gunne Saxs. I don't understand why they stopped selling them because even now in these comments most women liked them.

2nd and last one
Grandma was the same age as my mom it seems
I was a teenager in the 70s. Hot pants, high waisted pants and jeans, peasant maxi dresses, candies shoes, harem pants, Danskin leotards are just some of the fashion I remember. Of course, the hairstyles included the Dorothy Hamil haircut and Farah Fawcett hairstyle. Our supermodels then included Lauren Hutton, Jerry Hall and Chrisitie Brinkley, among others. Oh, those were the days. Life was a lot simpler then. 😊
I lived through the seventies as a teenager and young adult also. It wasn't a simpler time in the 70s. Have you already forgotten Richard Nixon and Watergate? But time has a tendency to smooth things over in one's mind.

Even in the seventies, I would have left most of those dresses on the rack. I considered many of the styles tacky even when I was living through the 70s.
