Man needing hearing aids refuses gift from a Secret Santa until he realizes it isn't a scam

The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy this holiday season helping a local man gift $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho. Secret Santa is a real person who wants to remain anonymous and hopes to bless as many individuals in our community as he can.
Gale is in his 70s, retired and on a fixed income. He loves to keep a well-manicured lawn and frequently helps people in his neighborhood with their lawn should they become unable to do it themselves. He is from the old adage of "use it up, wear it out or go without!"
Gale is also very handy with repairs and will help others fix equipment or machinery. It’s the same in the wintertime as he goes well beyond his immediate neighbors to help keep sidewalks open and walkable.
When he's had a garden, he is very generous with his harvest and bottled vegetables. He makes great pies, stew and bread...and he sews! He keeps to himself quite a bit but he is always kind, respectful, and helpful.
Gale is hard of hearing and could use a new set of hearing aids. He was given an older set of hearing aids and has attempted to use them the best he can but they are old and outdated. He’s on a fixed retirement income and new hearing aids are just way beyond his budget.
Secret Santa wanted to help Gale hear this Christmas so he asked the East Idaho News elves to pay him a visit. Check out the video above!
If every senior was as skeptical as him, the number of fraud victims would drastically drop.
Definitely hell if more people were nice and open to ideas then this would go down as well.

@@KJ-xx1sd if there more open to ideas then they wouldn't need to take the call for they can just look something up or mybe someone told them something that will help.
Like lets say they call to tell him his house needs repairs even if it doesn't he can just walk outside and go i can fix that its only 1 shingle oh my tree is to tall ok what ideas can you give.
Oh none well frank down the road told me I can use less water to stop it growing so fast its only a 15 foot tree.
Like simple things they normally try to get them to open there checking book.
If they can be more open to things they will know if its a scam for the simple fact the more you know and less they can try to get on you the better.
He is a great example of being vigilante about scams for other seniors...you could make a commercial with it. Love him.

Being completely deaf in one ear and partially deaf in the other, I get his reaction. We have to be on guard only to protect ourselves, especially not wanting to agree to anything we cannot hear/understand not to mention the embarrassment of asking someone to repeat themselves over and over. I have been deaf since age 2 and attempted to save money many times for hearing aids (5000.00) then finally I accepted a different job in my fifties and my health ins at this job paid for my hearing aids which never ever happens. I LOVE my hearing aids! I had no clue ppl could hear themselves eat crunchy food or hear raindrops hit an umbrella over your head, among so many other sounds I have experienced since my hearing aids. WOW, just WOW! What a gift Secret Santa!
Please don’t feel embarrassed when you need someone to repeat what they said…. I would never be annoyed by that!

he's the type of old men i love-- gruff on the outside and mush inside....he is gruff but a sweetheart.
I love that this man has seen it all and when he hasn't, it's a scam.

This was the smartest senior citizen reaction I have ever seen. People get home invaded all the time and he def had his gun ready for sure. Don’t blame this reaction at all. If more people were like him they would hang up on al the Indian phone scammers and probably america wouldn’t be in so much debt.

Eastern idaho is really scenic. Especially in the late Spring. That's basically between Twin Falls and Idaho Falls going along interstates 84, 86 and 15. Nice relaxing drive too
