The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy this holiday season helping a local man gift $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho. Secret Santa is a real person who wants to remain anonymous and hopes to bless as many individuals in our community as he can.
Jaime has such a sweet heart and kind disposition. She lives alone with her service dog Emmett. Because of some health challenges, Jaime doesn't drive. She works at a local daycare in Rexburg and takes her job very seriously as she teaches and cares for the needs of the little ones.
No matter the weather, she relies on the Walmart shuttle to help her get to and from work every day. In good weather and bad, she walks from her apartment to the shuttle stop and then from Walmart to her job. Every evening, she makes the same trek back home. In the winter, when the rest of us are complaining about getting a close-enough parking space, Jaime, without complaint, walks over icy, snow-covered sidewalks, sometimes slipping and falling because of her gait.
She grew up in the Rexburg area, and after her family moved away, she returned, wanting to call eastern Idaho her home. Against many odds, she graduated from BYU-Idaho and she wants to be a contributing member of the community. Even with her partial hearing loss, Jaime has one of the most beautiful singing voices, and she would like to take part in community choirs. However, those usually meet at night, and the only transportation Jaime has is her own two feet.
Toward the end of this past September, Jaime and Emmett walked to dinner one evening. On the way home from the restaurant in the dark, she was hit and a car ran over her foot. This slowed her down for a while, but Jaime was determined to get back to her responsibilities at work.
Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves if we could surprise Jaime with some early Christmas gifts. Watch the video above to see what happened!

edit: YAALLL. This is my most commented on comment I think. Happy tears here. This year has been particularly hard for my husband and I. I watch Nate as a way to feel happy and I love Christmas the most anyways. My husband suffers from chronic depression and crippling self-doubt. He quit is job during covid at the start of this year to work on his own. He is an accountant. Almost everything we planned went south. One day it got really bad. This was less than 4 weeks ago. We take day by day, stay calm and work on ourselves. It feels great to know, that so many people cared and commented. We all matter.❤️
Ha! I'm in the UK and have zero link to the US. But still love to watch as many of these as I can since I came across them just last year, as it really boots my mood and is such a lovely reminder of all the good (ppl,) in the world.

So….. I consider myself a “man’s man.” I can’t remember the last time I cried in front of my wife. And I don’t think I’ve ever cried in front of any of my nearly adult children. But I’ve been watching these Nate Eaton, East Idaho news/secret Santa videos for about 3 years now. And I don’t think there’s been one yet that doesn’t choke me up and bring at least one tear to my eye (please don’t tell my family!)! But I’m blown away with the amount of time and research that goes into discovering these truly deserving people/families! Generally, I hate charities. Because so many of them don’t get the help to the people who need it most. But these stories are always of people who are working hard, aren’t looking for handouts, and deserve it more than anyone else I could imagine! Which in turn…. Makes them grateful and understanding of the gravity of the gift they’re being given. I wish my local news station did this. I’d love to contribute to such a cause!!
you are not alone, I'm supposed to be in work mood but I can't... I think the only thing I can do now is to follow the example and help other who are also having a bad time. Maybe that will stop the tears.

The letter said she had some challenges making her unable to drive. A car would've been nice, but not beneficial for her. That was why they gave her the ride share gift.

A scorter would have made a world of difference to her she could go anywhere.

Amazing how one person ,Secret Santa , ripple effect is making the whole planet a happier place. Nice to see a person , a single person, do so much good for his fellow neighbors with the only intent is to give unconditionally. JUST WOW! and WORLD WIDE!
I very much look forward to these EVERY YEAR!!! I am SOOO excited that 2021 has started!!!! When I was battling stage 4 cancer last year, I cannot explain how much joy, happiness and hope this brought me. It made Chemo that much easier and changed my mindset- literally. Now that I am in remission, I know I want to help deserving people in need, just like Nate Eaton!
Secret Santa delivers more than joy to the people that receive the gifts, it brings joy to sooo soo many more people and gives hope.
The recipients this year seem more appreciative than in years past. That's not to say previous years recipients weren't grateful for the gifts they got, it just seems different this year. Maybe it's me. Whatever it is, Merry Christmas to everyone. Thank you Secret Santa.

i am rather confused . some people get brand new big cars but why did this lovely good hearted lady not get a good used car < nothing wrong with that my car is a used one > when she has to walk so much also in the freezing cold and had a foot injury because she too deserves it . the money for free travel could have been put towards a car . secret santa if it is possible please send her a little car .

If a ride cost $10, a thousand dollars is 100 rides; if she used those rides to get back and forth to work, that would be 10 rides per week; 100 rides would last 10 weeks, or less than 3 months.
Why were you people so chintzy with her? Based on her situation, $1,000 for transportation expenses isn't even a drop in the bucket.
It cost me $25.00 with UBER, one way to work one day because my car broke down. Terrible! 🤔
