The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy this holiday season helping a local man gift $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho. Secret Santa is a real person who wants to remain anonymous and hopes to bless as many individuals in our community as he can.
Tom has done a lot of things for the Rigby community without asking for recognition or wanting anything in return. After the shooting at the middle school in May, he organized a flag-raising ceremony with the first responders and brought the community together for support.
He drives a semi and flies the American flag and service flags during the National Anthem at most community events. He is part of the committee for the Hot Classic Nights car show and helps with veteran events and Memorial Day events.
Tom’s wife drives a school bus and is by his side in everything he does. She gives and never asks for anything in return.
A few weeks ago, Tom had surgery to have a pacemaker implanted and he is missing work for 2-3 weeks. This is going to be tough as they will be without his income during recovery.
Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves to pay a visit to Tom’s house and surprise him with an early Christmas gift. Watch the video above to see his reaction! - Розваги

@@mayfleur36 I. Love. Canada! I lived in Detroit for 4 years and hit up Windsor a lot. I also ventured to Toronto 2 times. I REALLY want to make it to Vancouver sometime! That’s my next goal! - I know all of this is totally unrelated to the content of the thread, but I still wanted to say it; haha.
I emailed him last year thanking him for all of this. He was very kind in his response.
Doesn't Nate have the best job in the world? Imagine to be able to be the messenger for such joy. That said, Nate does a really good presentation. He highlights the person, tells of their hardships, but doesn't dwell on the bad stuff, but rather showcases all the good that person does. Make me want to visit Idaho.
We were Blessed to have him at one of our news stations in Richmond, Va!!! He is Greatly missed, but Definitely found his Special Place in our Crazy World,& Nobody deserves it more, or could do it better, Or with such Genuine ❤️!!!

Great ambassador. I respect both him and EIN’s professionalism. They’re never too ‘extra’ about these segments. That says a lot these days. That’s why I became a subscriber. They try to keep it classy despite their generous efforts. I admire that. They know their audience is aware enough to ‘get’ the significance of their efforts without it being shoved in our faces. A refreshing approach. Leave the praise up to the viewers.

Wish I could give more thumbs up. I grew up on a small rural community. Many of Those that grew up in metro areas have no idea where their food comes from or how it gets on the grocery store shelves.
I agree Melissa. As shown during the pandemic of the last couple of years, the people we are indoctrinated to look up to in society are in many cases, useless, and benefit society the least, while the ones we are made to look down on are actually the backbone of the country and we are nothing without them. They literally help sustain life and our standard of living. So hats off to all the truckers and farmers. They have the respect of this city girl. Thank you for all they do!

@@thethiefonthecross9092 he is on some medication for his surgery that causes that moving of the jaw. When my brother had the same surgery he had that too. Being a truck driver he can't afford to lose his CDL doing something like your suggesting. That was an uncalled for comment. This man does way to much for his community to be having that kind of a problem. Think before you speak.

Now that is a good man right there. What an incredibly friendly, humble, and grateful person. If I had a bunch of money, I would have chosen him too. He rallies the community together and supports the veterans. That's great in my book.

Yes, and if no insurance cost about $75,000 plus in the USA.
@@moewilson4605 His wife drives a school bus, which means she has health insurance through the school. Which means very good insurance.
@@kibblenbits don’t know anything about the busing business but most school bus drivers are part time, as they do a run in the morning and afternoon, which amounts to only a few hours per day. From what I have heard it is only full time workers at certain private companies or government that have great health insurance. Most individuals have to pay for their own healthcare insurance, hundreds of dollars a month, which many cannot afford. I hope they had insurance. Even then sometimes only 80% coverage, which still means thousands of dollars out of pocket.

He is part of the roads true pillars. With some exceptions you can always count on the truck drivers getting the job done. I salute you sir.
And before we all had smart phones and could call for help from anywhere, truckers always pulled over to help stranded motorists on the highway. Speaking from experience. They are good people.

Well done Nate and Secret Santa. I grew up in the UK, lived in the US for 20 years and gained US citizenship. I am now retired back in the UK but the US country and people hold a large place in my heart. (I am also married to one, ha). I feel so sorry for the folks often featured here who face the double crisis serious health challenges and mounting health bills while unpaid through not working. I really hope that one day the US realises that a nationwide healthcare system is the way to go, where the many support those in need and no-one is bankrupted by healthcare costs. I know about the American health care system. But it still shocked me how normal it seemed to be when Nate said it! The guy had a big operation and has to miss work because of it - and obviously (?!) does not get paid while he recovers? Are there really no measures to help out sick people?
This made me tear up! Our Vets deserve the world! He has such a kind heart! What an amazing man!

What a great job! I cant even imagine the joy and satisfaction that must come with handing someone a gift that may change their life or help put a big bandaid on a broken heart. If I could pick getting a gift or giving a gift and meeting all of these lovely well deserving people I would pick handing them out every time. Nate gets the best gift of all.

My dad had a pacemaker put in not too long ago and it's changed the way we live. Fortunately, he was able to work remotely and financially wasn't too impacted. But as we see, that's only the case for a lucky few. True good natured people like Tom aren't always so lucky, and someone in a position to help like Secret Santa are so appreciated by continuing their selfless acts, but also improving the communities they are apart of. Tom and his wife seem like stand up citizens and deserve this without a doubt. Hopefully this will help them have a more comfortable holiday season. It seems like they will spread the love and joy they received here, and thats the best reward for a good deed.
