So. Much. Awesome. Thank you for sharing. I still remember my first time on a large adventure bike…I took it straight off-road and dumped it within 10mins after taking delivery! 😂😂😂
Adv looks so damn fun. I grew up riding dirtbikes and ride my dyna daily. This is the next step in expanding riding knowledge! Thanks for the awesome video Staci!
No, but my buddy Jesse who was with me is doing a BDR with that group next year. We did a huge ride out through TN and NC (hit Deals Gap) this year and it was great. Glad you got the video up, we’ve been anxious to see it!
Awesome!! I haven’t done any off road riding east of Colorado yet. Soon, hopefully! Yeah I’m so behind on video edits lol!! I’m like 13 months behind at the moment. Fingers crossed I’ll be more caught up by the spring!! Hope to see y’all again at some point!
Staci, I’m sure you’ve been requested this all the time, but would you ever consider doing an Indian test ride series? Love your videos, can’t wait to see more
Enjoy your enthusiasm. My wife bought me a BMW r1250 gs last year knowing it would be my last bike as I'm pushing 70. I love the adv bikes for their comfort and on road manners. I couldn't imagine dropping my bike on a gravel/rocky road or sand pit. After drying the tears from my eyes I probably couldn't pick it up. I'm going to keep it rubber side down on the street while I still can. I'll depend on folks like you for off road excitement. Be safe. Bill
Awesome video. I've already completed my Level 1 off-road training and will be riding my 2021 Pan America (standard) to California next weekend for the Level 2 training in Borrego Springs.
Was told in advance that there would be a lot of sand training, then after the course, I will leave with them for a 5 day Baja Tour. Will be getting new tires in Temecula before the course. Will be taking Route 66 from Toronto, Canada and hopefully get there in time for the training.
UA-cam just presented me with this video & I saw in the comments that I never got back to you about my training in California with West38moto. What can I say, it was a great 9 days with the weekend training, then the day ride around Borrego Springs, followed by our trip down to Baja, Mexico. The Level 2 training was more of a challenge for me, so ended up re-taking the Level 1 Training instead (which was different from what learned in Canada). This was a good move as it helped improve my skills with the terrain. I still struggle in deep sand but would be happy to re-do the training again. Like they say, you can only improve with time in the saddle.🤙
I took the MSF Adventure Bike Rider Course because of this video. It's a day long course and well worth it for anyone without any training for riding off-road. It's only $175, so people have no excuse not to at least take that one to get started.
One no start issue on the 21 that lasted about 30 minutes. The 21 was a preproduction unit. One screen turn off issue on the 22 that fixed itself without needing a fuse pulled (no clue lol) - and it had the known fuel pump squawking replacement issue
Hi Staci - thanks for another great vid. Quick question. Did you have a chance to ride one of the Beemers, and if so how did it compare to the PA? I'm in the market and planning to take this course. Appreciate your insights.
Trail stops!! All the time!! My first was when riding on a Smokey Mountain single track (Yammy Super Tenere). I was going too fast around a blind corner, steep mountain to my left and a steep drop to the right and BOOM out popped a momma and cub black bear! Full brakes and full scream in the helmet! All survived to tell lies about it 😂😂
We’re the same size height wise, and probably arms and inseam very similar probably but I just went into a local Harley for a battery. Sat on a pan-am for the first time and yeah I had to one foot it but it feels smaller than I thought. Not a dirt bike but it would be sweet to take off the main roads and explore/camp. Pricey so I’d hate to drop it. I think it being “top heavy” helps lean it. At least that’s how it felt initially sitting on it. Just commenting because I fully can see why you like them.
Very cool! I'd love to do that someday. Do u have to supply all your own gear and bike? I only own a basic street helmet, gloves, and mesh jacket, living in FL. 🤷🏽♂️
Thanks for sharing your journey and also struggles (and victory) , as being a height challenged person myself I also have gone the ADV route after starting on a cruiser.
I ride an ADV bike and do a ton of off-road jeepin and I feel all riders should take some type of training. It can save your life! Be safe out there everyone and leave the trails as you found them. Tread Lightly!
Great video Staci! Been so keen to see how your last 12 months has been in the ADV world. This is certainly one of the best ADV for beginners video I've seen, awesome work indeed mate! Keep getting out there and getting after it, I know I've learnt a lot from it. I seriously need to get on some ADV courses out my way!
at 16:28 the offcamber turn is exactly where i dropped my bike during get on adv fest and broke a rib! haha i hate off cambered turns! ahhhh i had to ride my way back out and to the hospital in deadwood, not fun. im taking classes before i attend next year!
Yep almost fully healed finally. I started hitting dirt again last week. I’m trying to keep working on skills to be better prepared. Thank you for posting this video. Loving the process of learning and growing is so important. Too many people me included saw all the amazing videos showing how fun these adventures are. But not enough show how hard it is and how important training is.
Staci, you're so right. Deep sand on a 650 lb bike, even with knobbies, will always be a challenge. You're doing great. As my friend says" adv bikes are NOT dirt bikes!".
That “hospital bill” comment hits home with me. Last April I road above my skill level and ended up in the wrong lane and head on into a SUV (totally my fault) and totaled my TriGlide and broke my back. After missing the entire 2023 riding season, I picked up another 2020 TriGlide and am ready to ride again!!
I did Intro to Adventure course in Southern California almost exactly a year ago. I was also a very experienced road rider going into it and had done some ADV riding previously. Even simple things like being comfortable doing trail stops and tight U-turns has been a game changer off and on road. I do feel you about being tired toward the end of the course. I'd ridden down from Portland that week so by Sunday I'd been on the bike for five days straight already. Then I did Base Camp Alpha over at ZAKAR that added to it. Good self care (like you said) and good fitness is a must. From what I saw of the video, the Colorado facility looks like fun too. The California facility is near the Los Padres NF so nowhere near as open as what I saw in the video. We had more room to work on the offset weaves. At one point we had them set up like 22 feet apart. However, the off-camber turn course in CO looks a bit more straightforward.
Really love how honest you are in this video! I think this video is a great introduction for someone thinking about doing ADV motorcycling. I've watched that early video of your first ride on the PA and encountering sand. I was impressed how you decided to check yourself, not push beyond your abilities and still shared that with your viewers. I think this what I like the most about your channel is the honesty about everything you present on it. Your words not letting your ego getting you into a large hospital bill are such wise words! I think that also goes with the fact that if you plan on going to remote locations your skills in riding and keeping your ego in check could be the difference between have an awesome experience and having EMS coming to rescue you!
yes. i’m a Harley guy and this video wasn’t for me however i did enjoy it. i saw your post on Instagram about people not watching it so i came to watch it to support you and your channel. keep up the good work and i love your videos. especially the camping and travel videos.
Great video! I just bought a Pan Am this summer and like you, i'm coming from the cruiser world. I've done a few county roads, but very little. I def want to look into some training like this. I'm just hoping that you add a Pan Am to your garage for more of this kind of content!
What a great journey! Thanks for sharing with us Staci. It's always a good idea to expand your skills no matter what kind of motorcycle you ride. Keep up the inspiration!
Staci, you looked so proud when you talked about showing people how a short woman with a top heavy Harley can do the course and defying the odds. You are a Harley fan for sure. Great episode.
I think you've just added a future customer for these guys. Not only does it look like a blast, but this experience could very well save your life. Well worth the investment to help keep you & your bike looking their best. Thank you, Ma'am.
great video!! i've already taken the msf 1 day class, i think i learned enough to get me in trouble, being vertically challenged myself, 5'7 with a 30in inseam, your right, balance on those big bikes is key, probably gonna go to either PA next year to Appalachia ADV for a class or down to BMW's training course, not cheap but includes the bike, PA is probably where i will end up....glad you finally got around to putting this one out there, I've looked at Rawhyde but its just getting the time to go since I live in the midwest. I'm glad you covered it, because I was gonna ask, what people thought of the panny doing everything the GS does and do it with no issues...lol sláinte!!
Haha I thought of you when I finally pressed “publish” on this one! Thanks for watching it! You’ll love either of those courses. I’ve heard they’re great!
@@ridetofood lol I was waiting for it! plus the app adv guys also put on on a "beginner to Intermediate" tour for 4 days in PA...thanks for getting it out! 🤘
I'm glad i learned as a child in the dirt, street at 16, now in my 60s the instincts from those early days save me when there isn't time to think. I'm a road rider, love the twisties.

Oh I bet you’d love it!! Thanks for watching! 😊🤘
100% dirt makes the best riders. Motocross and woods background before I ever hit street bikes. Every street rider should do dirt. Love your videos.
I was there! What a great time, and definitely worth it.
Heck yeah!! Have you done another class since?
No, but my buddy Jesse who was with me is doing a BDR with that group next year. We did a huge ride out through TN and NC (hit Deals Gap) this year and it was great. Glad you got the video up, we’ve been anxious to see it!

I’ve ridden Indians! I just didn’t have a UA-cam channel then. If their marketing team ever asked to work with me, I’d consider it.
good for you see you on the trail
good stuff. always glad to get a notification from this channel.
That's awesome! Definitely something I need to try!
You will be stoked you did!!!
I've always thought you were beautiful.
But like a fine wine, you get better looking every year 🤙
😅
Are you married, or single, because I think you are very beautiful, congratulations on the beautiful videos!
Thanks for watching!

You did a great job with this video. Thank you!
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful!

Hey Mark! I didn’t get to ride a GS, but I hear lots of great things about them!
Thanks!@@ridetofood
Great video! I have been thinking of taking a RawHyde ADV class for a while now. Now I think I will go check out their schedule! Thank you.

"...sand sucks!" - accurate statement.
🤣🤘
Ok 👏🎉👍
Love love love....😊
Very cool! I'd love to do that someday. Do u have to supply all your own gear and bike? I only own a basic street helmet, gloves, and mesh jacket, living in FL. 🤷🏽♂️
You can rent a bike! But riding gear is all on you
I think you said your 5’4 but a 30 inch inseam. Well I am 5’9 and only have a 30 inch inseam so your taller then you think for riding lol
Yup…
Thanks for sharing your journey and also struggles (and victory) , as being a height challenged person myself I also have gone the ADV route after starting on a cruiser.

Wow, you are really good off road!! Thank you for this awesome video!!!
I’m actually very slow which is the only reason I probably haven’t hurt myself too bad yet hahahaha! Thank you!

It’s pretty simple. Just don’t do it. 😂
ChiliQueles!
Great video. So, thinking of getting an ADV bike of your own in your future?
Oh absolutely! Hopefully before the spring 🤘
YOu'd like Triumph Tiger Rally Pro I bet@@ridetofood
Enjoyed the video 🤘⚡️🤘✨✨✨
Can’t wait to do this
highly recommend!!!
But why did you not buy an advbike?
I discuss this thoroughly in the Daughters of the Road Podcast!
Girl i love your independence!!!!! Hell yeah keep riding !!!!! I enjoy riding as my stress reliever!!!!!!!
well done Stacey...great vid as always.. cheers
Another great video! Thank you for documenting and sharing like you do!
I'll always take a smaller lighter bike.
Happy for ya!
@@ridetofood Hard enough to pick up an XR650 off deck, can't imagine something much bigger.
Did you ride a GS?
Nope! Would love to check one out though
Great content in this one. Excellent video.
Thank you Staci, big ADV bikes are intimidating, riding my 2023 Africa Twin Adv in gravel roads was scary at the beginning.❤😂😊
Totally understand lol!
