First of all people really need to do there research on the bullpoop topic of olight flashlights explode. In that case Caleb Joyner was using a Olight T20 hand held flashlight. The T20 flashlight uses 2x CR123A (Non Rechargeable) or Rechargeable li-ion either 2x RCR123A 3.7v or 1x 17670 3.7v battery. The batteries is what can explode. If you use 2x CR123 batteries and one of them isn't fully charged when installed, the 1 dead one will go negative in voltage when the new one just goes dead. This is what can cause the batteries to explode. Also using 2x CR123 batteries in series parallel is dangerous by its self. All manufacturers of flashlights have had this issue so its not just Olight. I have used multiple manufacturers weapon light and Olight has been great. I've never had a issue with any of them and some of them have been abused hard with 20,000+ rounds of recoil. Ive thrown them on tables, in oil drums, in boxes. They've fell on the ground, been drug through mud dirt and gravels. Been soaked with rain and water and put away wet. They all work perfectly fine! I've had zero of them break and I've broken 3 surefire lenses. I love my surefire lights but they are expensive compared to Olight. So over the time I've used alot of Olight weapon lights to fulfill the need of not having to switch lights around on firearms. They all get a weapon light cause im all about that equality and making sure non of them feel oppressed! 😂 im glad you did add some Olight's to your test cause ultimately they are decent weapon lights!
I have streamlights and olights and personally the olight feels better with the fact they’re rechargeable and usually have higher lumens for less money. I know people have had problems with them but on all my pistols I run them on and my rifle with the ODIN all have performed without flaws.
The rechargeable batteries have been very known to go boom; we also haven’t liked the output of most of their lights, seems like a falsely inflated number. These ones however performed extremely well and definitely hit their numbers
Olight has been great for me, only have one wml and also use a warrior mini almost daily. Love their charging ease, can’t beat them for the price. Not to mention they’re top 3 in these tests pretty regularly.
Have 3 olight pl rechargeable models and an odin mini on my ar. I have run one of the pls on an m&p for 7000 rounds zero issues. Unbeatable at the pricepoint. If i ever had an issue i may change but it just hasnt gone down like that
I like olight. Most people dismissing them are gear nerds who spend 5x the price for gear while not being able to hit shit Olight stuff is pretty great and improved MASSIVELY since their inception
I like lights edc handheld lights. But their weapon lights were awful from like 2019-2022. Maybe they got better, I haven’t owned one or seen one in 2+ years. But, why not spend like $30-40 more for a Streamlight? They’re proven and some of my favorite pistol lights.
@@DrunkDrynastyI got a Baldr RL Mini Pro because it’s rechargeable and combined laser. Solid light, no changing batteries. Super bright in close quarters. Intuitive controls.
@@drewbienewbie03xx81 LOL man PSA deserves all the praise, making cheap reliable guns for us poor people that refuse to spend 1k on a plastic pistol. 700 for a decked out dagger or 700 for a plain jane.
I bought an X300 Turbo because people kept talking crap about my use of Olight's, but my PL Turbo is brighter, has a smoother beam, runs longer, and has better switches. I genuinely hate Surefire switches. If the Olight had Streamlight switches it would be perfect.
I use the TLR1-HL over any Surefire for one reason - switches! Yes, I have a couple Surefire pistol lights, but they are not in an EDC role. Strobe feature doesn’t get the love they deserve. As a retired combat Infantryman and former LEO with plenty of GWOT and street time, bright LED strobes will blind and disorient people. Could cause other issues, but if pointed at a threat, who cares.
Strobe limits your visual input and can absolutely result in causing a not clean kill on an unarmed assailant, or get you killed by an armed one... There’s a reason most companies do not have a strobe option! I agree with the switches thought, the TLR-1HL has the best feeling switches by far; with surefire having the most annoying switch I’ve ever run.
In the endless amount of weapon light reviews I’ve watched surefire has never won, not once.. Streamlight and Olight seem to always be the winners. Btw, I own many surefires.
I hope you boys had fun getting roofie'd by Jake & Nolan in that Vegas hotel room! 2A ProCast is how I discovered DeskPop, and I'll happily say that I love both of these channels
Those smaller lights have a place. I’ve used super bright wml on my pistol before and in my home I was just as blinded as the person I would’ve been pointing the light at I found that the tlr7 was the right amount of light to keep me from being disoriented and any other place having a super bright wml is pointless as well because the high velocity projectile will cause enough disorientation all on its own the light is just needed to make sure I can id the target. And since I’m only using this as a self defense tool I don’t need to identify a target out to 200 yards away
The X300 Turbos are no joke. Best in class candela that also fits the majority of holsters. I like my PL350, changing heads and batteries are a nice feature but the switch issue kinda worries me even though I got the upgraded G2. Honestly, if Surefire made their pistol light heads removable and compatible with their rifle lights and handhelds, they'd be the absolute perfect pistol light. Yeah they're big but it's just uncomfortable carrying my Glock 19 gen 5 with a X300 than it is with a Streamlight TLR7A or TLR1-HL.
I bought an m22 warrior from olight in 2015 and the damn thing just constantly goes into strobe. Never considered another one. My streamlight wml and handhelds have all been great. I got a couple of nightstick headlamps when i was doing wildland fire, and those have been awesome.
if you need a holster for any of these light hit up the dudes at Concealed Development. I bought a rig for almost all of these lights. Highly recommend them. They work with you too if you have questions which WTP did not. I am shilling for them because i was impressed with the quality.
for 80 bucks, the pl turbo's light is better for night use than the x300t AND modlite. i want to try out the goonbeam though. need a light for a p10c junker, might fuck around and order one.
I actually LOVE goonbeams handheld line. Extremely powerful and I just got their MAGLIGHTSABER to have a powerful house light to put on the shelf and my god it's nuts.
This channel fucks so hard, man. Great content! I'm far more open to options for carbine lights, but I only use x300s on pistols. Just never had the itch to buy another model/brand of pistol light.
I have essentially run an X300 turbskie on everything so this was pretty eye opening to me learning that I maybe don’t need to spend the $350 for a decent light
TLR7 sub might not be blinding, but I gotta say, the extra weight is nice on some of the smaller guns. I really hope Goonbeam fixes the reflector in the sub and bring it into line with the Sig offering which manages close to 17,000 candela. PS. The individual who died from the Olight was using an aftermarket Nuon branded battery, and they were working on their car. Other than that, it appears that the OE batteries don't explode. Olight however does underperform in a multitude of other ways, and Werkz Holsters/lowlightdefense does cover these shortcomings extensively on their channel/website. PSS. I have gone back and forth with the guys at Goonbeam. They do more than just replacing the emitter, they also change the reflector, and the switches are improved (more tension and less chance of an WML ND).
Worth noting that Isn’t the only report of them exploding. The Nuon battery was what the flashlight came with, and they’ll are absolutely correct on the CR123 thing; that’s why I didn’t mention the one where an officer had the light explode in his pocket and cause him third degree burns. The Baldiers specifically are known for having battery issues/melting gun frames in the past so I figured it was worth including. These ones did great; they seem very well made.
CR123s have a risk of exploding if they are run back-to-front and their charge levels differ. It can create a thermal runaway event. The olight that exploded was in this config. I suspect they went to internal rechargeable to avoid it happening again. When you run them in series, side to side, it's less likely to happen. At that point it being an olight is irrelevant since X300 lights have the same config.
Have Olight Baldr S - 800 lumens with built in laser with adjuster. Built in battery with magnetic charger so don't have to take the light off to charge it. Streamlight an others are just overpriced name brand stuff that are bulky. Get with the times people. Good review.
Olight is apparently cringe but I’m reasonably sure I’m going to end up with one. I have a Baton 3 and like it a lot so…down the road to perdition I go
Pls don’t. Get a TLR1, TLR7, TLR7-sub, or Protac HLX if you’re trying to stay under $150. But an Arisaka/Malkoff for $180 beats the hell out of anything under $200. I really like these guys but I’m not sold on olights weapon lights.
The battery in the Olight that exploded was not a rechargeable, it was a Nuon brand CR123a primary cell. CR123a's are dangerous, and in multi-cell lights will explode if you use mixed capacity (as in, one used and one new) almost every single time. The only thing Olight got in trouble for is not putting enough warning about the dangers of CR123a cells on their packaging.
I used to like Olight until I saw how their runtime profiles worked. They all run for like 2 minutes and do huge downramps of lumens to continue the runtime. That's just not acceptable to me. I need it to run the same lumens until the battery is dead.
Water is relevant. Worst thing to happen would be the light dies from a little soak, we need to fight in the rain. Freezing? Waste of time. Both batteries and LEDs are negatively effected by extreme cold, one should know this when preparing to go into ice weather. Insulating the light body would also result in overheating so this scenario, especially at -hundreds should absolutely cause issues. I would have preferred impact testing, this we need to know: How long would they hold up getting bashed around while on? Obv a very expensive test as this will delete their value but the most valuable information also for your audience. Put them on, tape the switches off and dump them in a cement mixer.
for a split second, I thought that was Heath Cortez. I got my SF X300 on the zon. and it let me make 6 no interest payments for like 6 months. i needed it for my fauxland special.

The Valkyrie turbo also fits in my safariland rds level 2 x300 holster in case anyone was wondering!
The Olight that blew up in the guys mouth wasn’t a weapon light. It was a normal handheld flashlight with some cheap dollar store batteries. It had nothing to do with the light and everything to do with the cheap batteries he put in it.

Boggles my mind how people aren’t exclusively buying Streamlight at this point. SureFire quality at a fraction of the cost IMHO. SureFire profits off of name alone. Don’t get me wrong, they’re great lights, but Streamlight is just as good. Olight is cheap Chinese garbage that has been marketed towards the “tacticool” crowd. Had several of them that were hunks of crap. Figured I’d give them one more chance with the Warrior Mini 3. Caught the thing on 3 different occasions turning itself on in my pocket. We have been turned off to Olight for a very long time, but there’s no way I’d feel right doing a review without including it- so I found the least explosive models I could and I’m honestly very impressed.

4:55 AM now here…
I giggled when I saw this. It’s 1:18 AM for me
I have streamlights and olights and personally the olight feels better with the fact they’re rechargeable and usually have higher lumens for less money.
Most people dismissing them are gear nerds who spend 5x the price for gear while not being able to hit shit
Olight stuff is pretty great and improved MASSIVELY since their inception

I buy all TACTICON equipment. Love them. My light charges in 25 min and lasts over 2 hours. Very bright. I prefer over my olight mini and tlr-1
I got a tlr 7 for the last few years. No complaints. Use it a bunch too.
I don’t care what anyone says the PL turbo spanked them all in light output performance!
I bought an X300 Turbo because people kept talking crap about my use of Olight's, but my PL Turbo is brighter, has a smoother beam, runs longer, and has better switches. I genuinely hate Surefire switches. If the Olight had Streamlight switches it would be perfect.
@@chevrofreaki am agree with you on this 😂
I used to love O-Light. I have 2 Valkyries and 2 BALDR S. One of each quit working after about a year
I use the TLR1-HL over any Surefire for one reason - switches!
Late night with Deskpop! Let’s go!
In the endless amount of weapon light reviews I’ve watched surefire has never won, not once.. Streamlight and Olight seem to always be the winners. Btw, I own many surefires.
What video have you been watching? I’ve seen surefires with bullets lodged in them and still operational
Light travels faster than sound, that's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
Why are you talking about us so loudly???

X300 turbo checking in. Worth it
I bought an m22 warrior from olight in 2015 and the damn thing just constantly goes into strobe.

Honestly in my experience and Operation Poors Olights have held up pretty well.
for 80 bucks, the pl turbo's light is better for night use than the x300t AND modlite. i want to try out the goonbeam though. need a light for a p10c junker, might fuck around and order one.
Agreed on the TLR7. Which is why I'm excited to see how the Holosun PID K does. Sure, it's not AS small, but it's a lot smaller than a TLR-1.
Gang, you guys have to accept the first Raid Shadow Legends or balls razor company that offers an ad. We don't want you to go onto debt for content!
Tbh when you’re this small they don’t offer much.
We’re kind of racing to the 100k mark and trying to put out better content so it’ll get more views!!
Nice. When it’s dark out, there’s plenty of options to choose from! And I’d say Olight may be a GOOD choice, as it should perhaps be a feature. 😂
We call that a grenade attachment
Bruh this is the type of content I aspire to see when making a purchasing decision, good stuff!
@@SOStv718 I really try to make the stuff I wish i’d see other make
"You can tell its dry ice because of the way it is" 😂 thats pretty neat.
Great review! Thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Why do you never do a Night Vision torture test? ☹️

...when was the last time you ack'chually _needed_ that?
Olight is apparently cringe but I’m reasonably sure I’m going to end up with one. I have a Baton 3 and like it a lot so…down the road to perdition I go
Pls don’t. Get a TLR1, TLR7, TLR7-sub, or Protac HLX if you’re trying to stay under $150. But an Arisaka/Malkoff for $180 beats the hell out of anything under $200. I really like these guys but I’m not sold on olights weapon lights.
Olight handheld were the bad ones...I'm betting olight will do fine and im only 2 mins in..I run a few of them and never an issue.
I humbly present to you the Nightstick TWM-30. Its the TLR1-HL at home, fits the holsters for it, AND got closed out at $50.
It’s 9,000 candela, which is half the candela of the TLR-1HL
for comparison, the x300 Turbo is putting out about 60,000 candela

I stopped watching at 14:20 after getting indisputable proof that Olight is better than the surefire x300
How long could you hold the olights in your hand before they became too hot to hold?
I used to like Olight until I saw how their runtime profiles worked. They all run for like 2 minutes and do huge downramps of lumens to continue the runtime. That's just not acceptable to me. I need it to run the same lumens until the battery is dead.
I've had nothing but problems with Streamlights Falling apart with the switch/Battery doorNot sure I would trust them for real world issues!
I had similar issues with my X300 turbo, battery door latch broke close to ten times
@@DeskPop I've used all of them except for GoonBeam. Oddly enough, the Olight is the only one I've never had any issues with.

The Olight that blew up in the guys mouth wasn’t a weapon light. It was a normal handheld flashlight with some cheap dollar store batteries. It had nothing to do with the light and everything to do with the cheap batteries he put in it.
There’s a LOT of instances of them going off, I highlighted the most lethal one- also the screenshot is a report of the incident, running Olights own batteries at the time. Their rechargeable batteries are know to fail.
