Is really sad to say, but I had to close down my business and Venice Beach do the lack of tourism and may be the bad economy. Thank you so much for all the people there support me over the years. Thank you. - Розваги
As a older american I could see this way back in the 70's Jobs going to china for US corporations didnt want to give healthcare and pensions anymore...The Youth of today dont realize how life was here in the US. My father was a executive for IBM.We all had free healthcare until I was 21yo...He didn't pay into to it. Thats was life back in the 60's and 70's. We were sold out by the govt and the bankers........and young men died for them In Vietnam Iraq afghanistan ect......
You hit it on the head! It's not "evil corporations," it's evil politicians. They're the ones who force things to go the way they have, are, and will be.
But... things are changing. Less brick & mortar shopping, more online. We'll how different things are when we come out the other side and see the finished product... hopefully after people have rejected government force as the solution to all things.

You don't have a government.. you have a mafia running your country.. you people are delusional.. the world is fighting back.. things are getting worse.. the US will be like Argentina.. get out whilst you can.. the USD$ will collapse all hell will break loose..
Calling your MOM everyday to check in is a WONDERFUL THING for a SON to do..💕💕💕
When I worked in LA, I did the same. Luckily, I could make a break each day on 10 a.m. (= 7 p.m. in Germany). That's the same reason Mike called his mom each day at the same time. I just wanted to make sure that my parents were alright: Germany isn't next door but at the other side of the planet ... And yes, I still care a lot for my parents since without them I wouldn't be the person I am today. 🥰
Mike is a good son 💞
Yes, it is, but it is not good for business. Customers require attention. You can call family anytime.
I remember crying the day I had to make the decision to close my store in 2021, due to the pandemic I lost 80% of sales from one day to another, the landlord was nice enough to let me stay 3 months for free while I sorted things out. I was in a state of depression and for the first time in my life I didn’t know what my next step was going to be it was a very sad situation I had to move back with my mom and I was kind of embarrassed because I was always the go getter of the family
Don’t feel bad. Everyone has hard times. Just keep pushing.
It happens to the best of us. Became a medical professional while running my own business. I was always planning ahead because of this very thing. The recession drove us out of business, but my new profession one year later saved the day. Good luck.
The last time me and the wife was in Venice, 1 year ago, we ran into you. It was great to meet you and you were kind enough to spend time with us. We wish the best for you on your next journey.
He is doing it out of greed because he wants other people to watch his channel
@@rockyvlll5072 LMAO, that's the whole point of UA-cam Einstein.
Watching German in Venice tear up really allows you to see how much he liked his small business. I’m glad to hear he has something to fall back on 👍
UA-cam is the worst employer to have.
A sad day for Venice Beach... 😢
They will drive them all out they will tear that down incorporate 500 will build something there for the rich and not the. Average person he’s not poor like Daisy but he doesn’t own a house there either like everyone he’s renting and they don’t need or want his rent they want that land and property out with the old or current in with the new or corporate 500 big brother world complete with underground parking possibly
I always loved passing by Mikes booth! Harry Perry skating around jamming out, or the guy with the piano! Sad day indeed. GIV is a Venice OG

Yup, Mr. Venice from Germany 💪🤙
My daughter and I hv a small business. One day, November 20, 23 everything came to a hault. I was diagnosed with life threatening illness that required immediate emergency surgery. I was in hosp for 80+ days and drugged to ease my pain. My wound/surgery left me disfigured and unable to walk as of today. When i had a clearer mind free from pain meds, i recently started to think about whats next? Disabled and no income coming in added to stress of healing, but not enuf to keepme down. Im now figuring out a new direction for business that will accommodate my physical needs until im totally healed. Sometimes we hv to face obstacles to recognize we need to evolve and change. I live in California with 3rd largest economy in the world and there is something for everyone to do here in business. Dont give up, take time to be silent so you can figure out your next turn on your journey. The internal business fight is natural and you can do anything! Keep going, yougot this. 😊❤
Very powerful. Thank you!!
Get yourself a good social security disability lawyer. Mine sent them the wrong mailing address for their fee, they dropped me like a hot potato when I needed help fighting the SSA from taking away my ssdi. They refused to help me citing that they never got their payment so then I had to contact the SSA to try to find out why my attorney didn't get paid. They told me that they tried to deliver the payment but it was returned as undeliverable. So as a result I lost my SSDI and ultimately the attorney did get their payment but they didn't help me my payment back even though it was their fault that I lost it because they refused to help me because they provided the social security administration with the wrong address. I didn't give the social security administration their address the lawyer gave the social security administration their address so the lawyer messed up and yet even after they finally got their payment they still blamed me when I wasn't the one who gave the social security administration their address. I think it was I don't know it was a popular social security lawyer is back in the late 2000s. At least now the internet has a way to post reviews for these people and rate them so people like us can make a wise choice in who we use to represent us.

How to be a Bitcoin whole coiner and call it one aspect of a retirement investment plan 🤔
For many people the concept of getting just one BTC at $63,000 and hoping it goes up in value over the next few halvings is out of reach...
Holding one BCH at $460 a coin is achievable for most people
I’m sad that you have to give up
Your shop but I know that you will do better with UA-cam. I wanted to come and see you on Venice beach but but unfortunately that never came true but I always watch you on UA-cam. I’m a big fan of yours
Selling on-line is also a idea. Own your own webshop. Sell your art and photos, GIV stuff. One door closes and another one opens 🙏 Many blessings 😊
Exactly, there are many more potential customers online and GIV has nearly 400K subscribers...Let the GOOD TIMES ROLL !!!
@@kinhason46 I agree, Maybe even sell more. Not everyone can visit California and visit his shop. On-line could even sell more than a shop. More people would have access to his art. I was planning to go by there myself next time I was in California but now thats done.
@@vogeltik Mike is very creative, he's a wonderful communicator who imho will utilize the closing of this business as a fortifier for his channel and many opportunities along his life's journey! 😀

Yes, less overhead and a SOLID fan base to help support a online store.
I am 42 and self employed in a very small self built industry where I know exactly what GIV is saying. I created everything from scratch, developed a business from a hobby and it will never make me rich but does pay bills and keep the lights on however it's never a guarentee I will be paid and some days I earn nothing at all, others I may make enough for the week to live. I keep telling myself i'm lucky, enjoy some of the free time I have and the fact I can call my own shots and when to work but there is always a constant dread that this day will come where a call has to be made that it can't continue, then what.
I started watching GIV with his excellent coverage of homelessness and Venice Beach in general and always love the humor and his way of just talking. I also love the fact he gives something a go instead of just giving up, that is where I am sure he willl be just fine in whatever he does.
I just found you recently, and really enjoy your content. Good luck on your future endeavors, your honestly about the subjects is refreshing. I have quite a few friends the live in Cali and one thing I’ve noticed is that many of them are in denial about what has been happening in your beautiful state. I lived in SoCal for quite a few years, I loved it. It’s a shame that you couldn’t make it but it takes a special person to make the decision you made. I wish you nothing but the best in the future.❤

Youre clueless
I had to leave California. I grew up in Inglewood CA. I was told that because I'm white that I was an automatic racist. I served my country. It's disgusting.
I agree. Recently in Ontario anti-black racism training for teachers was scrapped due to the racism of accusing people of hideous thoughts and intentions for skin colour alone.
GiV, This IS a good change for you. Your roots are in Venice. As a LT watcher/subsciber, I know you go WAY BACK -- 30 yrs -- weightlifting, martial arts, etc in VB. You and VB are one; you ARE (!) a VB celebrity and also a California cultural icon.
Your opus of YT works will always be available to others for generations to come. Now you CAN and WILL have time for further artistic expression (in the same lovable GiV persona) including YT videos and commentaries.
The world is waiting for you, Michael.
My grandparents had a bookstore for thirty-one years. It closed in 2006, and I remember that day like it was yesterday. It was surreal when the turned the lights off and the sign and locked the door for the last time at dusk. I remember when the store opened in 1975, when I flicked the switch to light up the sign for the first time. Saying goodbye to a business you built yourself is a hard thing no matter the circumstances.
Same with my grandparents on my father’s side. They owned a printing company since the 1920’s. They both passed, and my uncle took over about 30 years ago. Now he is retired, and none of his kids (my cousins) wanted to run the company since they had their own companies to run. So the printing company is gone. I remember running around as a kid around all these huge printing presses from the 1920’s. The smell of ink was quite strong, and paper was everywhere. It was quite fun back then.
@@taoist32 It would have been impossible for me or anyone to take over the bookstore because it was largely dead for years by then. Business in that neighborhood started to take a nosedive in the early 90s. It never recovered. At one point my grandparents had talked with me about taking over the store, but it wasn't getting any business. They made more money in their later years selling rare books online. When we closed the shop for the last time in 2006 I was just in a state of shock. It was dusk. I remember my grandfather turning around the Closed sign for the last time and taping a Thank You letter to the window for their customers. Then me and my grandparents hopped into their Dodge Caravan which we'd moved so many books in over the years and went out to dinner. We were just in shock that the store was finally closed. It was tough, but they had no choice. My grandmother passed away last year and my grandfather eight years ago. Many of their customers have also passed away, people I really miss. The book community is a wonderful community.
The crime, the homelessness, the dirty Hollywood walk of fame street, tourists wont come.

I'm from England and before covid I was planning on visiting california. During covid I watched alot of videos and did a lot of research and decided your state wasn't for me. I visited utah instead 😊.
Another point, your california leaders are the ones to blame for all this BS... allowing drug use, crime and out of control homelessness.
I have been subbed since the pandemic. I absolutely adore you and your content. I'm so sorry about the business- I have complete confidence that you will move on to the next chapter and it will be great! ❤
I can't wait to see what you do next!
Sorry to hear that you had to close your business Mike. I hope you realize that the lack of business from tourism is not because of the economy in general, but rather the poor management by the governor and city leaders. With the homeless bums being allowed to run rampant on the city, who in the world wants to come to Venice to experience the bums and filth first hand?! I sincerely wish you the best with your future plans and I look forward to more videos, including Germany. Keep up the good work, we love you!

Wow! I woke up at 4:00 AM, made my coffee, opened UA-cam and this video was the first on my list. Very emotionally I watched it. 😢 I love you Mike and feel honored to have gotten to know you. Hey Mike Tracy Fisher here from Manitou Springs, Colorado! 😢 so sorry for the closing of your business, however you already have the entrepreneurial spirit! You Did It! So if another door doesn’t open quick enough, go kick one in. Take care, very inspiring. I had to close a piano business I had for 20-years. It still hurts, but times change, business changes and the only thing constant is “change” you’ll do just fine my friend! Take care
I was touched watching this and see your sadness in closing your business. I went through something similar that happened nearing 50 years ago which STILL makes me sad when I start thinking about it! My best wishes to you as you develop your UA-cam channel to a million and more!
Even in crime-ridden Portland, we are bummed to hear about the GIV closing his shop. Don't stop making videos. Keep us all posted on you & what's you are doing. Peace.

Until he says something YT doesn’t like and they demonetize him. There’s a guy who does the same thing in Thailand bangkok114 or something and he had a 1.2 million subscribers when they shut him down for no reason. He just filmed. Never ever spoke a word in his videos, so there wasn’t any politics. So what is saying is…if I were him, I would work on getting away from UA-cam as much as possible and diversifying somehow, if he hasn’t already
Mike, I met you at your store during the pandemic, even got to talk with you a little and took a picture with you. I have really enjoyed your show over the years! I am so glad you have this channel to fall back on. I am sitting on an online etsy store with probably 1 million in product... all vintage from garage sales and good will hunting over the years. Now I doubt I will sell it all. I am fortunate to be an RN who went back to nursing in '18 just to keep my feet wet and then Covid hit and I have been running like a crazy person Full time on the med surgical floors ever since. The online venders have quadrupled since covid. I saw a quick and small surg at the shop the a 75% drop around that Horrible time. And I have had to half my prices to get any activity. No one can afford to buy what they cherish they are too busy struggling to feed their families. Milk was $ 2.50-$3.00 4 years ago. Now it's $5.50. It has gone up 100%!!! And I have cows in my back yard as I am nestled in a farming community. The farmers here in north central PA have switched to Cattle because of the price elevation of meat. I cannot afford to buy meat! I went and got 3 chickens to be able to afford eggs! Soon I'll be buying chickens to eat! I am grateful I moved to the country. It is way less expensive than the suburbs and at this point it is dangerous anymore.

Good luck Michael in everything you do. Your store has been a landmark of Venice boardwalk and it’s sad that open air drug use, tent cities and crime write the current chapter of Venice’s history. Thank you for making Venice a better, more colourful, artful and lawful place. Be blessed and keep growing this awesome channel.
Mike, much of what you share on UA-cam tells the story of why. Your ongoing documentary of Venice Beach really gets to the core of the matter. I believe you are making the right decision. Lofe is a series of seasons. This one closes, but now you have committed to the next season of your life. Looking forward to what is in store!
With all that mold and all those rat droppings I am surprised the GIV didn’t get constantly sick.
He did get sick quite a bit over the last few years. His immune system isn't up to snuff I suppose.
Was wondering the same thing - I thought I saw mold on the walls
that isn't mold its just coloring from the stuff that used to be in front of it. Dry walls don't mold...
That mold is a health hazard so as sad as I am for you, closing this store could be saving your life! Better things to come into your life! Keep it moving forward your going to be great! ❤
Black mold will not kill you
Thanks for all the memories we've got here to rely on. Looking onto see what save you catch next.
Mike wish you the best. I grew up in a beach town out East. Summers rocked. Fall Winter and Spring sucked. Went through this a few times. Good luck
It’s not our country to enjoy anymore. Since you care so much about your mom I have no doubt greater times are coming your way and the more generous you are with her, the more generous will be done to you.
Watch the video, he's not going out of business, he chose to stop because he makes more money on UA-cam.
The economy, the homelessness and mental illness and drug dependency of people in Venice Beach and California LA in general and how the local government and federal government deal with it is directly to blame in my honest opinion. I’m entitled to my opinion as I’ve been there and seen it and promised never to return like millions of others. Sad 😔
39.6 million people in California no one leaving
@@dogsense3773 just the smart ones are and the illegals getting free flights to other sanctuary cities around the country. Want to debate? I got the facts.
@@dogsense3773California's population went down every year from 2019 to 2022. The state had a small increase last year.
@@dogsense3773 lol - CA (with NY) lost a representative in the house from so many people fleeing the state.
But sure, just keep telling yourself everything is fine 🤡
@dogsense3773 In the last 3 years, California has lost population for the first time in over 50 years. The only state that has lost more people is New York.
Good luck to you GIV. I am sure your UA-cam career will continue to flourish. I wish I had the chance to see you in person in your store. I truly enjoy your videos around Los Angeles esp. since I live here. Keep up the great work and like you said, "The only guarantee is change." Another saying is "When one door closes, another door opens." Maybe UA-cam is that other door for a better future for you.
Life has a lot of excitement ahead for you. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us and enjoy the ride.
The homeless issue is ingrained in people’s minds. When they think downtown LA or Venice they think of homeless.
💯 That's the reason why I don't visit anymore.
When they think California, the think crime, filth and homelessness
EXACTLY the problem. LA NATIVE for 47 years. It's gone downhill.
Plenty of businesses in Santa Monica and Venice are operating fine
I think homeless when I hear California. Spent 17yrs there. What a dump.
Alot of people are finding they cannot afford to stay in business. It's hit independent owner operator truckers hard as well with the new requirements and the economy going south fast. A lot of trucking companies that I basically grew up around are now out of business. And a lot of single truck and small fleets are shutting down
I know what you are saying. I just lost my job as a construction equipment fuel truck driver in the Denver area. They went Bankrupt. Hard to stay in business when customers refuse to pay you. I'm changing occupation to mattress tester.
You’re such a talented vlogger with the trips you take us all to and the sightseeing. I have very positive feelings about your future.❤ I’m sorry for your business and maybe the good news is that you won’t have to tie yourself down to that business. You could and would be a great tour guide too!!!
Being in Central Texas I have learned a lot about the area from your videos over the last few years, you have been very informative and truthful about what is going on. Will try to connect with you when we visit our kids and grandkids in the area in the near future...best of luck #GiV
Mike, I followed you during the pandemic and the encampments there on Venice Beach. You met so many people there and they always appreciated your presence. Even though with confrontations, you always showed respect and never got angry! UA-cam is your channel now, your life, ROCK ON!!💕
There’s not many as nice as you that are on UA-cam.
The GIV Rocks, keep pushing forward.
I’m sad for you having to close the shop, but I’m so glad you’ve got UA-cam.
The content you create is amazing, I love the trips you take to Germany 🇩🇪.
We miss your mom and hope all is well with her.
May the future be very blessed.
As long as you keep being you on UA-cam the channel will grow and prosper.
You have super personality too.
Thank you for the great content.
Sorry to hear that, Mike
Took my boys to see you while in Venice beach a couple of years ago. Took pics of them in front of your shop (I ❤ Venice). Good luck with your future endeavors!
You speak from your heart! Keep up your creative spirit! Make more Roadtrips around Socal come visit the Cali Desert. Cheers, from a Dutch guy in the desert.
I think you are heartbroken because you are losing your community. But remember you created that community, so it is in your power to do it again.❤
I think Venice Beach became world-famous due to certain tv shows aired in the 1970s. Maybe not so much now. Do young people know about VB? My dad used to live just a couple of streets back from the beach in the 1970s, 3rd Street, Santa Monica, 5 minute walk away. I used to visit him from England as a kid, spent some happy times cycling on VB, down to Marina del Rey, which was still a new building site.
My aunt had a house on the beach at Topanga, all demolished now, there was a great community there, maybe 20 - 30 houses, surfers and hippies, houses right on the sand, nothing fancy, but so chilled and relaxed. Dad moved to a nice apartment in Marina del Rey, and died there in 2012.
Last time I was there 1982, Big Red bus from New York down Route 66, I arrived in Santa Monica with literally 50 cents in my pocket, having avoided paying the bus fare from LA bus terminal. Stupid young kid of 17, no ability to budget. I walked to dad's place, knocked on the door and luckily he was home. I never told him I was destitute and desperate, and luckily for me he told me that his rich aunt had just died and had left me a few thousand dollars. Gave me an advance on it there and then. Wow, was I lucky. After that scary experience I decided to learn about money and ended up as a Chartered Accountant (CPA). I never wanted to run out of money again, it's a scary place.
Cool story, thanks for sharing. Where are you living these days?
@@Tarapatil2023 Thank you. Living on a farm in Devonshire, England. A confirmed miser after my brush with destitution, I hate spending money, drive a 25 year-old truck, but with money in the bank. It all ended OK, so far. I hope life is going OK for you too.
You were talking about your parents and had that look when we remember so much that's happened, our experiences in this life, people we were fortunate to know. You and I are both old enough to have those experiences and I saw how hard they hit you, remember there is just as much opportunity to experience what's to come as what we've already experienced. Good luck to you, at same time if we have no other choice but to succeed, we usually do. ;)
Prayers and blessings to your lovely German soul...thank you for your cheerfulness through the years, best of everything to you always....❤❤❤❤
I went out of business too. There was just no way to sustain it any longer, no one has expendable income anymore. Sending ❤ it’s bittersweet for sure
There is jobs and money but a bigger proportion of what people have is now being spent on (a) rent/bills and (b) online.
im a professional goldsmith jeweler, the big fancy shop I worked at went out of business, when I was hired it was diamond and gold jewellery work everyday, slowly started taking in more silver, then it was mostly silver, then we started taking bronze orders,,, wasn't long after that the shop just couldn't sustain, it broke my heart, now I cut firewood, just whatever I can, aint no one buying jewelry, makes my career feel valueless. with love, stay strong. we will survive
@@carsilk2492Eating is an essential business. During the pandemic many of us couldn't even open our doors by law. I went 2 years 'Hair Styling Salon 'on borrowed money. No clients allowed. Cutters quit. Had to pay the lease with no income. Eating on credit cards caught up with me on 3rd year. Had to close shop too 🥺

@@MattTee1975 I’m not dumb, I know GiV is still going to be on UA-cam, but thanks for mansplaining that for me
Looks like black mold in there. May be a good thing you moved. Good luck in your future endeavors. You're one of my favorite UA-camrs. Keep the faith.❤
Humans have lived with black mould for centuries. No, it's not great to have but it's not the end of the world.
@@beverlyhills7883 Bad on your lungs.
I was with you at 24K Subs and was there watching you visiting with Mom in Turkey, so I feel close to you Bro. Something great is coming your way, get ready.
You moved to the next chapter of your life and to do that you made it! So congrats and it can be sad to see things go but always look forward and you on to good things in front of you. You are more free now to go and experience new things.
I'm glad you kept your emotions on the video, can see you were tempted to turn the camera off but glad you kept it in. I can only imagine how it feels, such a beautiful spot and the end of an era. All the best in the future I look forward to seeing your next adventure, you're definitely part of Venice!
My family owned a 3rd generation paint store. Lost business when all the big box stores came in town. Luckily my dad had a new job lined up. He was off to a new adventure. He just retired and loved the decades in his new job.
Come visit the Midwest! We have a nice German Heritage Museum in Davenport, Iowa. If you come in late July/August, you can enjoy the Bix Jazz Fest.
Look forward to your next adventure!
Bix Jazz Fest, wow don't hear many people mention that. Dixieland Jazz is awesome, GIV should do a video there.
@@GLC-1979 I'm with you on that! The kind of music I grew up with!!
Sorry to hear this. It sounds like u had a good run and an amazing location. You got to see a lot of interesting people over that time but businesses do fail. It’s part of it. Hopefully you’ll come up with another idea that is successful.
I've been watching your videos from your hometown for a long time. And see the coolest things from your life. This is a period in your life that you will always remember. Keep having fun in your life and doing something new! Many greetings from Krefeld
You made me cry Mike, because of your sensitivity, your story and because you are leaving, but I know that the best is yet to come. I hope to see you again!! the best for you❤❤❤❤❤
More time = more content = more money. Best of luck, Mike. You deserve something good to come your way. One door closes, another one will open.
The scary thing is… for any or no reason at all his channel could be shut down or de-monitized. I’ve seen it happen to too many creators to think it couldn’t happen to a good guy like GIV. Can’t put all eggs in one basket!! The economy is absolutely horrible!!
@@Jennifermcintyre The economy is booming, what are you talking about?!
people worried about that day 1 of mankind
but what happens when youtube starts doing what uber did to those who use it to make a living . taking more and paying out less .
@@marleonetti7 That's life in the big city, no guarantees. At least with YT you don't own to have a car, just a camera.
I also had a store. Had to shut it down during covid. Alot of my business came from people ordering online and having products shipped to them. I was contracted with a lot of the same warehouses bigger companies were contracted with. Suddenly the shipping times on products being ordered through my store and being shipped from those warehouses went from a few days, to weeks. If the customer got the product at all. As a test, I ordered something from my store, then ordered the same thing from a bigger company, knowing both were coming from the same warehouse. The one I ordered from the bigger company came quick. The one I ordered through my store took 3 weeks. Even through the same shipping companies. I won't name these bigger companies, but you've definitely heard of them. That's when I knew for sure they were using covid as a means to shut down many smaller, mom and pop type businesses that were in competition with the larger businesses. Nothing has been the same since for the little guy. But the big guy keeps rolling in the dough.
I was a SF /Berkeley street artist in the mid 70s Lotta work! Yes very satisfying. And I had a shop in Alaska. It is sad to close❤ Thanks and good luck👍
