Y'know, this really did help. I tend to have quite a bit of redness on my face - especially on my cheeks - your explanation works perfectly for me. This explains why most colours with yellow undertones end up looking orange on me, while others seem to suit me perfectly. Thanks for the explanation!
@iluvenisp ok so here is the info- fix fluid is a liquid foudnation high coverage, Fix powder is a lightweight powder foundation that gives medium coverage, Blot is used just for touch ups durring the day to absorb oil, MSF is a powder foundation with medium buildable coverage that can be used on its own or together! I hope thjis helps!
I want to buy this so much, but also I would love to have the MAC full coverage foundation... now I am confused :s .. since its quite expensive in my country, I just dont want to get the wrong one that will be such a waste :( do u have any suggest which one is better for super duper oily n pore skin? thanks :)
Studio Fix powder has such great coverage, but it needs to be applied/blended properly for it to look flawless and natural. The matte finish is great for oily skins. overall great product :) thanks for another great review!
@GroznySupport the difference is that studio fix powder foundation powder while the studio tech is more of a creme base. studio fix powder provides medium to full coverage and is buildable to the point where you are most comfortable where as studio tech, since it is a creme, it is a little more thick but provides complete full coverage.
Hi Lisa, Someone working at the mac counter told me that makeup is either red based, or yellow based. This also affects how the makeup will end up looking on your skin. Not only did I not understand what she meant, but I'm also now deadly curious about what she said. Could you do a video explaining this, and showing us some examples of how this works? Thanks!
@GroznySupport fix is a powder and tech is a cream that transfers to a powder- everyday I like liquid and fix powder. I was color matched for a C color in the powder!
i know there are those out there that think this is too expensive for a powder. i have been using MAC Studio Fix (NC15...i'm casper's little sister) since I was in high school. I switched because there aren't any good drug store brands that have a powder that is close to my skin tone. I wear makeup nearly every single day and it takes me a year to go through one of these compacts. Sometimes it takes longer. This is a powder that has amazing staying power and you don't need a lot of it either.
I have never tried this so I think I will try it next summer. As I have gotten older I have lost the oils in my skin so I think I need a liquid unless you think it would work well during the winter as well. It looks so much more simple. Frankly, I am tired of liquid getting on my hands as I am generally in a hurry and don't use a palette. Thanks for the review:)
was thinking about buying this product but i'm glad i came across this video. i have very dry skin, do you think it would make me look cakey and dry out my skin even more? is there anything you would reccomend for me since i have dry skin? thanks and love your videos!
@beautyjunkie6027 they are both fairly matte products- their premise is that they are long wearing matte products. Liquid gives better coverage and can be used daily.
If you wanted to use a powder as a foundation alone, would you recommend the studio fix, or the mineralized skin finish natural? and which one would you recommend for younger people?
Great info! Thanks, I've been eyeing the Studio Fix but didn't know much about it. From your review it sounds like a great product for me. I really appreciate your reviews and take them to heart when choosing new cosmetics. Keep doin' what your doin' Girlie, you're doing a great job! P.S. Love your eye make up today. :)
@illestflipmamii yes you can wear it alone- it is a good coverage powder. I am not sure it will cover pores smoothly because it is a powder so it may settle in the pores instead of on top of them- try a good primer before and that should help!
Thanks for the review! sorry if you've answered this in other videos, but when you said you still prefer your mattifier? What one are you talking about? I'm thinking about getting one and would like you to use it mainly on my T-zone and maybe my eyes so my makeup doesn't seem to leave my face so fast!
I have skin pretty much like yours, combination oily. I don't like to use heavy foundations, but I do like to control the oil on my skin and make it appear flawless in color and texture. So the question is :P Which would you recommend, the MAC Studio Fix Powder, the MAC Blot Powder or some MSF Natural? I don't understand the differences between them. Sure in name, but it appears that the final result is the same. I don't know, could you do a review explaining the differences? Thank you so much!
i'm guessing that if you have really dry skin this wouldn't be such a good idea? would it only make you look dryer? I have the bare minerals powder and it is pretty good at keeping me from looking dry
thank u sooo much for doing this review! I have never owned mac poder and so I'm glad u didnt assume everybody has this product already so theres no need to review it.....thank u again
Thanks for the reviews! I just commented on your review of the face and body foundation. I am a teenager with combination to oily skin and my skin isn't flawless, nor is it very bad. I was just considering getting a foundation for usage during special events. I was thinking about trying either the mac face and body, or the studio fix powder, or MUFE HD foundation. I trust your reviews so which would you recommend?
The MSF will help hide the pores better than the fix powder, but the fix powder helps to control oil better! It depends on which you prefer- the MSF gives a more natural look also! :o)
Hi lisa! I love your videos! I've been using studio fix fluid for months already & i wanna try the powder since i have oily skin. Is the powder gonna give the same amount of coverage the studio fix fluid gives?
Hi Lisa! I love your videos. I just went to MAC today for the first time ever and bought some things. I like the foundation i have now (l'oreal true match mineral foundation) because it is super easy but I'm not sure if its the best for my oily skin. I just bought MACs blot powder and was considering buying either this or the MAC mineralized skin finish natural. If I got the MAC studio fix powder plus foundation could I return the blot powder or would I still need it?
@sonia26sb it is hard to say it would depend on the look you are going for and your skin type. If you are oily it is great- it gives a matte finish. If you are dry you are better of w the TM since that is a dewey finish. I hope this helps.
@flordeespecial Sorry for the delay in responding someone marked your comment as spam. This is great for oily combo skin- you need to use a fluffy brush w it or it can look cakey.
Which MAC compact foundation would you recommend for a natural look that provides medium buildable coverage. I want it for everyday but also for special occasions for a natural flawless not cakey look. I have relatively clear skin, but it's very uneven and I get a couple of zits every now and then.x
Hi Lisa...Have u tried the select sheer/pressed yet and the MUA @ mac suggested using it with studio fix fluid..personally i really like the sheer/pressed..but livid i lost it few days after purchase..lol...so b4 i go back to mac should i invest in another or the fix powder?? thanx Lisa!
would you recommend this product for those with dry skin? I am afraid it may be too cakey for me. I use msfn to set my makeup at the moment. But I like the idea that this is pigmented.
thanks for the review (: i was wondering if you should either use select cover up or studio finish concealer with this, since its a powder foundation ? thanks (:
I love this product !! The best I have ever found. I need more of a medium coverage. So I would never use this over a liquid. It would look way to cacky ! It is also great for those days that you just want have little makeup..Use the fix. Some blush, lip gloss and out the door in 5 minutes.. LOVE IT !
I start with the Mac concealer, go on to the Studio Fix Fluid, set my foundation with the Mineralize Skin Finish powder, and then add bronzer as needed. How can I use the Mac Studio Fix Powder for touch ups throughout the day?
hey girl it looks like people responded before I got to it, btu they are correct- Fix powder is more full coverage and the MSFN is more sheer and buildable. :o)
Hi @Lisasz09, I just wanted to ask about the shade I should choose in studio fix powder? I'm an NC30 in studio sculpt. I tried the NC30 and NC35 of studio fix powder and it looks to light on my skin, but I'm not sure if I should go for the NC40, I'm afraid of looking orange after. Helpp and great videos
What do u think about using studio fix powder+foundation and then topping it off w/ msf natural. I haven't tried it but I m wondering what'll do. Thanks!
questions...i have large pores, do you think it will cover them smoothly? and also its summer, do you think i can wear this alone on my face because i dont really wanna put on a lot of make up on my skin during summer?
I'm sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. I use SFF and MSF to set it. I was asking would it look better with fix powder instead of MSF? I tend to be a but oily on the cheeks.
I would suggest first to use something like Murad oil control lotion (the MAC one doesnt really control very well) then a good foundation is MUFE Matte Velvet + and it controls oil and stays all day- then you can put any powder y ou want on top! :o) Good Luck!
So i am a guy and i wear very natural makeup thats basically not noticeable on my skin...im very interested in buying this because i need a new foundation and i have been using mineral foundation...would this be good cover and look natural? Thanks:)
I have not tried the select sheer pressed powder- I love the Fix Powder though! if you have oily skin the Fix powder would be much better if you are dry the sheer would be better! I hope this helps you! :o)
I'll try to explain. People usually have pink or yello undertones, so a person that has a yellow undertone cant get makeup that has a pink(red) undertone cuz then it will make their face look a different color from the rest of their skin. So I think what she ment was figure out your undertone and get the makeup with the right colored bases. I hope this helped a bit.
thank u very muuuuch!!! i think i´ll repurchase the MSF because in fact, im not so oily....im thinking of using it with the studio moisture tint for the summer ;)
I was reading some reviews from people and they said that this only looks good on people with really oily skin and might look cakey on people with some other skin types. Would this look fine on me if I have normal skin?
i just bought that but it feels a bit odd, i have oily skin but feels tight im guessing i have dehydrated skin, when i apply powder they look flaky and stuff, i thought it was just the powder but i realize is my skin :/ im afraid of using liquid foundation because i have acne prone skin, i heard that liquid is bad for the acne?
What is it color of your mac? is it the Nw30? my skin is like yours, the same color, and i'm seeking one for my skin, my tone is like the fix studio NC37. Can you tell me which one you're using?? please!
Is there a way to find out the ingredients? i looked everywhere on the website and i couldnt find it,i have problematic skin and i would really like to know wexactly what im putting on my face

Thank you for your reply. No problem. I never expect anyone to have every cosmetic product available in the world! Love your reviews.
@iluvenisp ok so here is the info- fix fluid is a liquid foudnation high coverage, Fix powder is a lightweight powder foundation that gives medium coverage, Blot is used just for touch ups durring the day to absorb oil, MSF is a powder foundation with medium buildable coverage that can be used on its own or together! yes I use both of them. I use the MSF Natural more in the summer and the Fix in the winter or for touch ups in the summer!
I want to buy this so much, but also I would love to have the MAC full coverage foundation... now I am confused :s .. since its quite expensive in my country, I just dont want to get the wrong one that will be such a waste :( do u have any suggest which one is better for super duper oily n pore skin? thanks :)
Hi, I´m confused!!! Can I used it like a loose powder? Thank you
Studio Fix powder has such great coverage, but it needs to be applied/blended properly for it to look flawless and natural.
The matte finish is great for oily skins. overall great product :)
thanks for another great review!
you can use it- it might be a bit more powdery looking of a finish though in the areas that are not oily.
2023 and still coming back to my fav videos. 💗
Yay. Love this. 💕
@GroznySupport the difference is that studio fix powder foundation powder while the studio tech is more of a creme base. studio fix powder provides medium to full coverage and is buildable to the point where you are most comfortable where as studio tech, since it is a creme, it is a little more thick but provides complete full coverage.

Studio Fix powder is my HG its been for the longest time it was my first high end foundation item I bought & I swear by it.
great review !
im just wondering, what coverage does this product give?
@GroznySupport fix is a powder and tech is a cream that transfers to a powder- everyday I like liquid and fix powder. I was color matched for a C color in the powder!
studio fix powder has thicker coverage, msf natural is sheer and studio fix is medium to full depending on how you apply it.
hope this helped :)
i know there are those out there that think this is too expensive for a powder. i have been using MAC Studio Fix (NC15...i'm casper's little sister) since I was in high school. Of course it is! I have a dry skin 2 and it work AMAZINGLY!!!!

@23Crysti powders you can keep or use until they get a film on top- you will see it change colors.
I think it depends on the time of year- I like the MSF Natural in winter and Fix in summer to control oil!
Great review thanks! I have that too and it has a really good coverage, but can also be used just like a finishing veil - I like that!
i like how this video is short but you give a lot of detail about the product!!! thanks so much!! :] xoxo
@ForEvrMusic you can use it just to touch up the oily areas.
@illestflipmamii yes you can wear it alone- it is a good coverage powder. I am not sure it will cover pores smoothly because it is a powder so it may settle in the pores instead of on top of them- try a good primer before and that should help!

YOU HAVE THE BEEEST REVIEWS EVVVER!
i'm guessing that if you have really dry skin this wouldn't be such a good idea? would it only make you look dryer? I have the bare minerals powder and it is pretty good at keeping me from looking dry
which one do you prefer MAC Studio Fix Powder or MAC's MSF natural for natural looking skin?
thank u sooo much for doing this review!

Great review as always. I was thinking of picking up a few for my kit
Amy
Hi Lisa! I love your videos. I just went to MAC today for the first time ever and bought some things. aww thanks so much for the lovley comment! :o) I try!
@sonia26sb it is hard to say it would depend on the look you are going for and your skin type. If you are oily it is great- it gives a matte finish. If you are dry you are better of w the TM since that is a dewey finish. I hope this helps.
This is my list to try when my Shiseido Powdery Foundation runs out!
I set with mineralize skinfinish natural. I also use this alone sometimes. It is great for my dry skin, it doesn't dry me out or look cakey.
which one do you like better, nars foundation powder (if you have one) or studio fix powder.
@flordeespecial Sorry for the delay in responding someone marked your comment as spam. This is great for oily combo skin- you need to use a fluffy brush w it or it can look cakey.

I love the Murad Oil Control Lotion
would you recommend this product for those with dry skin? I am afraid it may be too cakey for me. I use msfn to set my makeup at the moment. But I like the idea that this is pigmented.
thanks for the review (:
i was wondering if you should either use select cover up or studio finish concealer with this, since its a powder foundation ?
thanks (:
Is it good for sensitive skin? because I've heard that it causes allergies, redness and what not. Want your opinion please.
using the sponge is the best coverage or you can use a kabuki brush!
so do you prefer this over the MAC mineralized skinfinish? i have the MSF but I am fresh out and i'm wondering if i should try something new
@chrystynarr yes they both work well with powder foundations
it depends onw hat you are looking for fix fluid is more coverage, fix powder is better for setting or a light coverage
For how long can i use this product before throwing it away? what i mean is does it have an expiration date?
I love love love the Murad oil control Lotion! :o)
hey girl it looks like people responded before I got to it, btu they are correct- Fix powder is more full coverage and the MSFN is more sheer and buildable. :o)
Hi @Lisasz09, I just wanted to ask about the shade I should choose in studio fix powder? I'm an NC30 in studio sculpt. So, studio fix or msf natural in your opinion?
do you like this or the mac mineralized skin finish better to set foundation?
do u recommend studio fix powder or studio fix fluid?
Question: How would you compare this product to Lancome Dual Finish powder foundation?
What do u think about using studio fix powder+foundation and then topping it off w/ msf natural. I haven't tried it but I m wondering what'll do. Thanks!
questions...i have large pores, do you think it will cover them smoothly? and also its summer, do you think i can wear this alone on my face because i dont really wanna put on a lot of make up on my skin during summer?
I love your vids lisa. Always informative! ;)
@TwoDeeFiveGee no that helps it stay but gives more of a dewey look than a matte one
Also, I'm guessing this concept would also have something to do with 'warm' and 'cool' colours?
I love studio fix!!;) but whats the difference between msf natural n the studio fix?!
And btw, i love all your videos!! Greetings from hong kong ;)
hey im just wondering is that the studio fix plus foundation or the studio fix pastels?
Can you tell me the difference between this to set studio fix fluid and the mineralize skin finish to set it? I have been using MSF. Thank you.
I'm sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. I use SFF and MSF to set it. I was asking would it look better with fix powder instead of MSF? I tend to be a but oily on the cheeks.

FANTASTIC review !
I have not tried the select sheer pressed powder- I love the Fix Powder though! if you have oily skin the Fix powder would be much better if you are dry the sheer would be better! I hope this helps you! :o)

thanks about .. i just want to ask you can i use it with sunblock only ?
They are different types- fix is for a matte finish- the MSF is for a more natural look! Enjoy!
Hi, Thanks for the Video.. Does this stay long.. Weather out here is very hot and i wanna try this for a party ! can u suggest any for a sweaty Skin ?
If i used this over a tinted moistiriser would it looks natural :D but have oil control ? :D x
have you used msf powder? as in over your foundation, i'm looking for a powder with alittle glow but not sparkkle
does it have good coverage.. if i dont have a fix plus, can a toner do the job?
@beautyjunkie6027 which foundation are you trying to compare it to? the liquid version?
can i use with a wet brush or sponge for more coverage?
thank u very muuuuch!!! i think i´ll repurchase the MSF because in fact, im not so oily....im thinking of using it with the studio moisture tint for the summer ;)
what color are you in most drugstore foundations?
Can you tell me which one you're using?? please!
I use the N5 in this powder- it is a neutral undertone
ahaha looove your videos! but when you say bye at the end it sounds like an answering machine type thing hha.
I have normal skin ( no real oily or dry spots) and I just need light coverage... Would this product work for me?
yes you can!
Is there a way to find out the ingredients? i looked everywhere on the website and i couldnt find it,i have problematic skin and i would really like to know wexactly what im putting on my face
Will this foundation fit my combination-oily skin, which is a bit sensitive and has some seborrhea at times?
Does it break people out??
you can use either!
