These caves are SO awesome! I never really knew about this area- what an incredible place to explore! I can imagine the challenge of trying to film by yourself and illuminating the way without your head lamps. You did an amazing job! Another great video!
Stunning view at the Pit River! Hope Glenn felt OK after the tumble on those spiky rocks 😮. Thanks as always for taking us on this adventure, and also for reminding a viewer from a very, very grey and rainy Northwestern Europe that the sun still shines somewhere on our planet.
Thanks! Glenn's all good. No major damage occurred. Mostly just a scare about the camera. We're actually getting some clouds lately. For us, it's exciting and novel. 😂
Great video. That's really an under appreciated corner of California and park. Last time we went my kid was only about 5 so exploring was limited but glad to see some of the stuff we missed here.
That's awesome that you've been! I can imagine having a young kid does limit where you can go, but on the plus side, 5 yr olds don't have to duck as much. 😅
There were some fantastic views from the drive to the caves! That scenic overlook was epic!! You could have spent the day there, hiked down to the bridge, and checked out the waterfalls up close! Glad you and the equipment were relatively unharmed, and can't wait for the next one.
After hanging out in the desert for so long, those Northern California roads are just so relaxing. No real damage to the camera thankfully. All good. Most was just a bit of a scraped up knee.
Wow I was just worrying about I in that cave when you fell. Hope you doing ok yep rushing especially on your own is risky. Thank you for risking life and camera for us but be careful this channel and your fans need you in one piece.
Love the scenery. It's amazing, especially the very tall trees. Your adventures make me feel like I'm riding in the back of your truck, talking with Slim and enjoying the views. Thanks for all the fun. Hi Amy.
Wow some truly amazing sights, waterfalls (how beautiful was that😍) and awesome Lava tubes 🥰....Sunshine really set you up for a trip Glenn 🤭😂.... sometimes being 5ft 6 (as I am) is a plus, for sure!! Glad you were not to discombobulated and your equipment lived to film another day...what an adventure 🤩. Thank you both, this was 'a gudun' ☺️💖 Love always 💛✨💛
Absolutely stunning view of the Pit River waterfall and the old bridge! You're so right, northern California is nature's wonderland. Thanks for bringing these views into my little world! ✨🌵💫
Cool caves, however I wouldn’t manage the deep darkness and possibility of getting lost. Glad to be viewing on You Tube. Enjoy your vids very much. Awesome productions.
We did the same thing. We stayed in Burney and drove to the caves. I remember thinking it's just a couple of hours' drive 😅 then I wanted to spend so much time caving! Lava Beds NM though, really is a great gem of a park! Exploring the tubes is really awesome! We had the best time 😊 Skull and Sunshine were a few of my favorites! Sorry about the tumble. I'm happy the camera wasn't damaged. Fun episode!
Thanks! In retrospect it would have been fun to stay closer to the caves to have more time to explore but honestly we weren't prepared to do much more of the advanced caves. Perhaps another time though as some of them seem like an adventure of a lifetime. 😄
My son and I visited LBNM several years ago during a Father/Son roadtrip. We got there late and only had time to do one lava tube. Hiked into the Golden Dome tube and didn't heed the ranger's warning that there were figure-8 forks down there...my son and I were lost for about an hour and couldn't find our way out. Pretty scary stuff with our flashlights beginning to fade!
just a few miles nearby (follow the gravel road towards the forest from the visitors center) there is a Hidden Valley and a few volcano craters to explore as well.
My son and I took our motorcycles from Redding to the subway caves. Thinking we could get away from the heat in Redding. Nope got up and in the mountains and it was just as hot if not worse. It was a fun trip anyways but almost had a heat stroke
I bet you can't wait to come back to far northeast California. It's a very big state with a lot of very scenic and remote areas. People tend to think of the big cities is what California is...Nope, so much more. We have enjoyed Lava Beds twice and camped in the campground for 3 nights each time. Next time you'll be more prepared.
Oh, heck yeah, we want to go back! 😅 There's still SO much in California worth seeing. Redwoods, more of Death Valley, ghost towns, etc etc. So much variety!
These caves are SO awesome! I never really knew about this area- what an incredible place to explore! I can imagine the challenge of trying to film by yourself and illuminating the way without your head lamps. You did an amazing job! Another great video!
There's some real doozies in terms of exploration in there. Like download a map and go in with knee pads kinda things. They sound awesome! 😂

Haha. He's all good thankfully as is the camera. One of the hazards of filming - watching the equipment and not the ground. 😅
Love the scenery. It's amazing, especially the very tall trees. Your adventures make me feel like I'm riding in the back of your truck, talking with Slim and enjoying the views. Thanks for all the fun. Hi Amy.
That's a very enjoyable image! I think Slim would love the extra company. 😄
Thanks Glenn. Very interesting tour of the lava tubes. See you again soon.
Thanks so much! 😊

For sure. Glenn's 6'2", and I'm also 5'6". I appreciate not having to duck, too. 😂 I also appreciate his height when it comes to reaching things. 🤣
@@CactusAtlas ahh lovely, yes, 😂 top shelves can be tricky when only 5ft 6 😅
Wow, this was a great adventure.. all kinds of caves/tubes.. a couple of these I didn’t existed.. Thanks for taking us along
There's TONS of lava tube to explore. So many I'm not even sure we can accurately say we scratched the surface. 😅
It’s now a must do trip on my bucket list. Never knew about this place Glad your on you tube.
It's a REALLY cool place. There's a ton more caves that we didn't get a chance to explore as well. 😄👍
Absolutely stunning view of the Pit River waterfall and the old bridge! You're so right, northern California is nature's wonderland. Thanks for bringing these views into my little world! ✨🌵💫
Lots of scenic mountain views and interesting geology for sure. 😊
Thank you for sharing, Glenn! Such beautiful pine forests
and amazing caves!
Our pleasure! Glad that you enjoyed it! 😊
Cool caves, however I wouldn’t manage the deep darkness and possibility of getting lost. Glad to be viewing on You Tube. Enjoy your vids very much. Awesome productions.
Thankfully there are some easy ones to explore, but yeah... I've heard some stories about some of the bigger ones and needing a map of the place. 😅

Man that place looks awesome! Can't wait to check it out myself!
It's great for an adventure. From easy caves to be VERY prepared for a full day adventure kinds. I wish we had more time to explore more!
Great job Glen!
Thanks! We had a lot of fun making this video. 😊
@@CactusAtlas you never “caved” 😉
Cool caves! Imagine seeing Bigfoot in there!
😮😅 Imagine the echo of a growl. Yikes.
Most of those trees are Douglas fir and ponderosa pine. I grew up in that area and spent a lot of time at lava beds. Lots of good memories there.
Ahh... good old ponderosa pines. We love them. Such a great scent to them. 😅
Oh man!! So glad he’s ok 😮

Oh dear! Some of those tubes really require maps it would seem. Glad you both made it out alright! 😄
just a few miles nearby (follow the gravel road towards the forest from the visitors center) there is a Hidden Valley and a few volcano craters to explore as well.
Neat! I hope that we'll find ourselves in that area again. So many more things we weren't able to see on this particular visit.
My son and I took our motorcycles from Redding to the subway caves. Thinking we could get away from the heat in Redding. Nope got up and in the mountains and it was just as hot if not worse. It was a fun trip anyways but almost had a heat stroke
Yikes! Heat can be no joke.
Ponderosa pine is pretty common there.
Love the Skyrim reference. And it’s not the lava beds without a fall. Also they have a camp ground there if anyone wants to camp.
We would have loved to camp there but were also filming at Lassen so staying there. LOVE that you get the Skyrim reference! ☺️

I went in 1983 before the light and path. It was black!
I bet it's a lot nicer to see where you've going in at least one of the caves now, right? 😅
Have you ever seen a UFO?
Nope.
It’s now a must do trip on my bucket list. Never knew about this place Glad your on you tube.
