How interesting! Looks like our oldest son is about 100 miles from there. Next time we down in that area. I will ask nicely if he will take us over to see and explore that area. There also some caves in town of Cave Junction Oregon.

Just as John stopped to read 1982 made by Bob Warfrin I was thinking of thanks to those people for improvement to our National parks.

John loves to read, and take photos, of the marks on equipment. He then looks up the manufacturer to see what became of them.

You guys did some cool spelunking. I went online to look up the different bats there, quite a variety. Looks like some nice quiet camping there this time of year. I'll have to include this on my trip next year. My list of places to go see is getting very long these days. Have a great Thanksgiving wherever you may be, enjoy!

We spend a lot of time at campgrounds with pit toilets and over the past number of years they have become very clean. I think the difference is most of these areas are now maintained by subcontractors and generally have a camp host.

This video brings back many memories. On our trip to John Day Fossil Beds National Monument in Oregon a couple years ago, we stopped at Lava Beds for several days exploring many of the same things you highlighted. We even stayed at that campground with the most pristine pit toilet ever. The camp host was so nice and took immense pride in maintaining a spotless campground. Unfortunately most of the caves at Lava Beds were closed when we were there. On our way back, we stopped at the Newberry National Volcanic Monument and explored the mile long lava tube and drove up to the top to get a stunning view of central Oregon’s iconic mountains. It was a fascinating spot. Thanks for sharing your adventures I’m always taking notes for ours.

Interesting story about the Modoc/Klamath Tribes. If the Declaration of Independence were applied to the situation, the US Government Agencies would have helped the Modoc Tribes to pursue their Happiness by Living on undisputed land in Liberty. Bureau of Indian Affairs : 10. He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

I think their newest shade is available and it is a few feet longer than the original.

LBNM is an amazing place. Geology, historical, cave exploration, and hiking all in one. Camp Tulelake site is worth checking out as well as it was a sad part of US history along with the Modoc War.
If you travel east, on US140, Mitchell Monument and sunstone mines can be found north of Paisley (Oregon) with miles of boondocking and places to explore. Oh, can’t forget the geology & waterfalls around Crater Lake as well as Newberry National Volcanic Monument along or near US97.
Thanks for the hike/exploration and for allowing me to reflect on my times in Northern California and parts of Oregon.
    Happy Trails!

Woo! Hoo!! We are back in California and on our way to visit family for Thanksgiving. Enjoyed your Lava Beds video. Have been coming here since the mid-1960s. When we first started coming here the NPS loaned out Coleman gas lanterns, you could walk on the ice in Skull Cave and there wasn’t a fence at the petroglyphs. Surprisingly, I don’t recall ever camping at Eagle Lake. I can’t believe how clean the restrooms are. I have never seen any this clean. Happy Thanksgiving

George says the end of May. Lots of reasons for moving to the Ford. We’re done with dealing with DEF, high cost of repairs, fewer places on the road to get repairs, MB dealers in general have an attitude we don’t care for.

Driving with a cover on rips them up pretty quickly. If it is expected to rain overnight, we cover them and we have also used wide gaffe tape to cover the small display panel on our bikes. It's pretty unusual to run into a lot of rain out west. Dust is a bigger issue.
