In North Texas, we don’t see roaches. Mostly spiders here. We’ve never had mice in our house but this summer we had rats in our garden!!! We wondered why all of a sudden the neighborhood cats showed up! Mostly I repackage dry goods in gallon glass jars with oxygen absorbers. The concern is insect eggs in the flour/sugar that may hatch and ruin the goods.
No being in Canada where we all have basements that are cool i've never had a bug problem in 15 years in any stored foods. I do plan to vacuum seal al my dry foods eventually though.
May I ask, how do you manage the rotation regarding expiration dates? I just finished some soup that expired in 2019, nothing wrong with it. Also finishing a sack of rice that expired in 2017. Sooner or later I'm going to have to rotate some stuff out. The local food banks won't take expired goods though. Just toss it and replace? Thanks, best wishes.
I marked the dates on everything with a felt marker so I can see them canned foods will last 8 years beyond their best by dates I found by trial and error rice never expires so just make sure you're eating your food so you don't have to throw any of it out
Friends and family will be the first to come, of course it's good to share, but some may not be so nice. Then gangs even in the countryside should all law and order break down. Human nature when you have no restraints and are hungry will prevail.
I live in an earthquake zone and some of my preps are in Mason jars. After preparing I return them to their original cardboard box and place thin foam cushioning between the glass. I secure shelves to wall studs and place strong cotton around the lower portion of each shelf to prevent boxes from slipping. Lightweight paper products are placed between shelves for cushioning, should the shelving drop. There are no guarantees against acts of nature but this reduces the chances of damage.
I debated that for years but I realized that if I can help people wake up and give them some incentive to start prepping before it's too late it would be worth it. I have a prepping community around me of former military guys and gals and we all have each others back as far as security is concerned so I'm not worried. Just wanted people to get motivated before the world plunges into full blown SHTF.

For pretty much any and all scenarios.
Congratulations...on your preps. However it's time to stop showing the world what everyone has..Theirs evil in the world...and lazy ass people that didn't prepare and unfortunately thieves that are going to be looking for a free ride!!! Be safe ,smart ,and ready! May The Most High be with you all.
Thanks
Are rodents and bugs not a worry?
I live in south texas and i worry about bugs in my preps so i keep everything in plastic or glass containers.
not really never had an issue with either one up here in canada.
All it takes is one field mouse to wreck havoc on those bags & boxes of food. Don’t ask me how I know, even with 6 cats here.
In Australia we have to make sure everything is boxed up or sealed properly as we have mice and bugs. I would love an open pantry
How many people are in your household? Is this a year supply? Just trying to get an idea of how long this will last. Thanks for sharing!
2 people and 2 dogs and we could make this last for about a year but I would like more just to be safe, plus more dog food and water.
Make sure you rotate the box Mac and cheese that powdered cheese will turn brown and taste bad
we do thanks.
New sub here. I noticed your boxes of potatoes, Stove Top, etc. aren't in baggies or packaged in any special way. Have you ever had a bug problem?
No being in Canada where we all have basements that are cool i've never had a bug problem in 15 years in any stored foods. I do plan to vacuum seal al my dry foods eventually though.
@@northernprepper1173 Thank you.
New subscriber! How long have you been preparing? I’ve been stocking up since about December 2020.
around 20 years now
Nice!
Thanks
May I ask, how do you manage the rotation regarding expiration dates? I just finished some soup that expired in 2019, nothing wrong with it. Also finishing a sack of rice that expired in 2017. Sooner or later I'm going to have to rotate some stuff out. The local food banks won't take expired goods though. Just toss it and replace? Thanks, best wishes.
I marked the dates on everything with a felt marker so I can see them canned foods will last 8 years beyond their best by dates I found by trial and error rice never expires so just make sure you're eating your food so you don't have to throw any of it out
@@northernprepper1173 Thanks for the speedy reply! Much appreciated :)
Nice 👍🏽
Thank you!
Apparently Campbell is better tasting than chef boyardee. Good prepared pantry. 👍
Thanks
Do you eat out of this pantry currently or is this just an emergency prep only?
We eat out of this all the time especially when I'm too lazy to drive to the grocery store. I just restock what I use.
How do you keep mice out of your package foods
My pantry is in my basement and in 15 years I’ve never had a mouse or insect issue, if I did I would line my basement with mouse traps.
How do u keep bugs out of package items
My basement is always kept cool never had a bug problem.
Wow...i need more shit!
Just do your best.
You can live forever! Or feed the whole town 😀
maybe a small small town.......
It's nice to see yours, but honestly not safe to share your business
Why not?
@@northernprepper1173 some people out there are crazy trolls and if it does hit the fan will be even crazier
Friends and family will be the first to come, of course it's good to share, but some may not be so nice. Then gangs even in the countryside should all law and order break down. Human nature when you have no restraints and are hungry will prevail.
Earthquake proof your jars!!
No earthquakes where I live never have been but a good idea for someone who does live in a quake zone.
@@northernprepper1173 is a surprise jolt worth the hunger?!
@@miketripp8673 Good point. Thanks.
You will not die of hunger
Not anytime soon lol.
Salt , Sugar and Oil is not enoug
I have more than what I showed but thank you for your comment.
All I see is GMO cancer crap. Impressive though. You have a lot. You shall survive !
Umm...thanks
I know you wanted to show this, but do you really think this is wise?
I debated that for years but I realized that if I can help people wake up and give them some incentive to start prepping before it's too late it would be worth it. I have a prepping community around me of former military guys and gals and we all have each others back as far as security is concerned so I'm not worried. Just wanted people to get motivated before the world plunges into full blown SHTF.
Whenever I see a prepper panty I convert the food into poops and wonder how all that poop will safely be disposed of….
if the toilets stop working we have a composting toilet i built with unlimited amounts of sawdust to sprinkle over the waste from a local sawmill.
I have luggable loos for each family member(3)
A bike with a trailer to haul poop bags to offsite disposal area:)
Proper waste disposal in a city or town will quickly get difficult!
It would help if you didn't have parkinsons
Sorry I didn't have my camera mount when I filmed these.
New subscriber! How long have you been preparing? I’ve been stocking up since about December 2020.
20 years give or take.
@@debbieb9628 My family doesn't prep either Debbie. They say I am nuts. I just smile and think to myself, "You are going to be thankful that I thought of you while I was acting crazy." Stay safe and keep on a prepping!

@@gailcurl8663 Because I love my family. I have prepped over board! You call me a fool. Do you have children? Do you have grandchildren? So I am foolish? But you would let them go hungry?
