@@kashan29 add as many layers as you can. It’s gonna be a long process. Let the layers dry in between, that’s importance for sturdiness. I did more than ten or twelve layers on these ones. That is why, I still have them on display after 2 years. Hope this helps!

FOR THE STEM - I took a brown grocery bag/added glue & water to a bowl with bag/let it soak 5 minutes/once out wrap bottom around 3-4 fingers/about midway upstart twisting to a point/swirl point around & around " WA-LA !! Did you do it as a half of a pumpkin, or cut it off the pumpkin and then glue it together again? 🤔 Because I imagine it would be quite difficult to cut the pumpkin out from inside the papier mâché 😂 I'd like to try to make one for myself and it feels unnecessary to buy balloons when I have pumpkins.
@@QueenMegaera I put Saran Wrap around the pumpkin and then did the paper mache around the pumpkin excluding the bottom. When it dried I cut up from the bottom in the back almost to the top and then slipped it off. The Saran Wrap helped it not stick to the pumpkin. Once it was off I sealed the back with masking tape and then a layer of paper mache. I also added the stem on top with paper mache. Once it is completely dry I cut out the eyes, nose, and mouth. Then you can paint it. I also glued a thin piece of black fabric behind the face. Just make sure you can see through the fabric. To help stabilize it on the head I glued a hat on the inside.

Yo personalmente no la uso frecuentemente , pero si la he usado en varias ocasiones. Para este proyecto use solo pega y agua, pero ciertamente harina y agua funcionaría muy bien. 🎃🖤

They must all be in MY neighborhood then, because we get a LOT of trick or treaters, van loads full at a time, so many people it looks like we’re throwing a nightlong block party… and you better have the goods or they’re not leaving until you put something in the pail… the first year after covid restrictions ended our lights were out cause we ran outta candy & kids still knocked and wouldn’t leave, they looked so sad after we told them we were out of candy… we had to give them crackers, chips, cocoa packets… whatever we had in the pantry… lol.

Yes! You can do white paint. Or guesso too. Just remember to add a lot of layers of paper, glue and water (optional flour) for sturniness! And let the layers dry in between. Have fun!

To be honest, I did more then 12 layers , letting them dry in between. I did this because I want them to last and be as sturdy as possible. I still have them on my wall as decor after 2 years of making them. So, yeah! Hope this helps.

I did this one year but used an actual pumpkin as the base to get the shape and it was so much fun. My son still has it and we use it as a decoration.

The Saran Wrap helped it not stick to the pumpkin. Once it was off I sealed the back with masking tape and then a layer of paper mache. I also added the stem on top with paper mache. Once it is completely dry I cut out the eyes, nose, and mouth. Then you can paint it. I also glued a thin piece of black fabric behind the face. Just make sure you can see through the fabric. To help stabilize it on the head I glued a hat on the inside.
To make it even more stable for outside decorations, cover it in Monster mud, which is a combination of latex paint and spackle.

Sometimes, it can Takes days. Depend on the humidity of the place you live in. Sun helps. Fans too. Remember to let the layers dry in between.
