Well, that ship sailed about 30 years ago and it’s so sad. I just called the third episode that Timothy Dalton was going to do as he episode of missed opportunity.

Nah these days he's got a cult following and is beloved by that cult. In 1987 people just weren't ready for him. They were so used to Roger dressing up as a clown and shining from a vine with the tarzan sound effect... That a serious Bond was wrongly interpreted as bad acting. Dalton would of been better to start with On her majesty secert service.
Still my favorite Bond. He deserved at least one more entry. They should’ve granted him a one time reprisal of the character. Goldeneye was clearly written for him; no offense to Pierce Brosnan.
They wanted Dalton for Goldeneye, but his contact had expired. Broccoli would only renew his contract if he committed to three or four more films. Dalton didn't want to do more, he just wanted to do Goldeneye and stop. So he didn't sign the new contract.
Well, with a six year gap and it being broccoli’s fault with how we ran the company with you know what the legal issues give me a break dude, you had it right there steering in front of you and you screwed it up man what were you thinking?
If everyone had watched Jane eyre, on video, right before watching him as James Bond, he would be their favourite for sure. If an6 don't, they don't count.
He should have taken the role the third time they had asked him for the early 80's to replace Roger Moore for For your eyes only, Octopussy and View to a kill he would have acted them real bad.
Too bad it was all for nothing I mean why in the hell would you do a 180 your fandom when your fandom is not ready for him wow talk about the biggest blunder in history and he is very gorgeous. Voice is deep what a waste of potential
I am 40 years old.. and for me, when James Bond is mentioned, the first association is immediately Timothy Dalton! Nor Connery with all due respect.. . neither the timid and comedic Roger nor the totally unwatchable Craig nor Brosnan... but Dalton.. the only regret and I say this as someone who normally deals with films and who grew up with Bond films is that Lazenby didn't get another film and that Dalton didn't go with a View to Kill and that Goldeneye is his final Bond! And all the rest are poor copies of Bond...
For me the only two Bonds that matter are Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig. The world in 1987 was not ready for Dalton who in my view did a superb job as Bond as his depiction was close to the character in the Novels. Dalton a stage actor had much more depth than Connery, Moore and the soulless, wooden Brosnan. Unfortunately the producers still were going in the absurd direction of parody that Began to infect the Bond Movies that started as early as Goldfinger. While Goldfinger was entertaining and Connery was charming, you began to get that feeling of staleness and comic book like vibe that began to carry the Bond movies over into absolute silliness. And the Roger Moore era went full blown parody to the point that they were at least to me cringe worthy to witness. Brosnan had absolutely zero passion and believability especially with that one expression he always wore, delivering his lines with zero conviction. And his slight, almost skinny dad bod definitely did him no favors. Dalton SHOULD have been the one to do at least 3 of the Brosnan Bonds and I’m quite sure that he would have brought the real goods and raise the standards of those films considerably. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. But thankfully Barbara Brocolli came to her senses and realized after Brosnan whose last film bombed, a fresh perspective was definitely needed in a dying franchise that was fast becoming irrelevant in the emerging era Of The Bourne Supremacy etc…..Audiences tastes had changed, it was a new generation of movie goers who wanted serious depictions with intelligent themes, not the silliness of the previous Bonds that were pure Hollywood schlock. And in came Daniel Craig who single handily brought Bond back into relevance and the 21st century in a BIG WAY. Craig built off of what Dalton started and took it to unprecedented levels thanks in large part to his excellent talent, daring directors and adhering to how the character is in the novels. Like Dalton Craig was a very talented stage actor who brought incredible depth to Bond and his physicality and physique and ruggedness made it very believable that he was a top tier killer. Craig significantly raised the bar and hopefully the trend continues with his successor.
Living Daylights was written with Brosnan in mind BUT Licence To Kill is totally Dalton's, two completely different movie's. Dalton knew he was being compared to Brosnan back then that's why he resigned while making Scarlett in '93. Then Brosnan came in with Goldeneye in 95
Dalton is underrated. He needed that 3rd entry.
He did, but Brosnan in goldeneye was legendary
Tim would've really been great in goldeneye
@@ImYourHuckleberry_29 need to see Dalton's Goldeneye in an alternative universe 👍
@@jjrbarnett in retrospect, he should’ve started a bit sooner. I think he would’ve been great for Octopussy, for example.

Dalton deserved one more film 💯

I think Dalton is the most underrated Bond. He feels really close to the book version of Bond.

Best Bond. I love “License to Kill” 🤘
I think the gorgeous Miss Interviewer was totally glued to this amazing man playing THE James Bond at that time. 😅😎
She’s mesmerized
I'm in the minority, but Dalton was my Bond!
He’s earned better fanfare with the popularity of Daniel Craig, who based much of his approach on Dalton’s performance.
You are not alone.

the Living Daylights.. gotta be up there as the best Bond movie..
this is the face ian fleming wrote about in casino royale 1953- this is bond 007
Timothy Dalton is great! It's such a pity that he never got the 3rd Bond film in early 90's.
The actual bond

I wish he started with For Your Eyes Only. We could have had him for four or five movies.
Absolutely right x
He will always be my favourite bond
I loved the way he talks "when Sean relinquished the part"

There hasn't been a bad bond I don't think. But there has been a best .
Timothy Dalton....

Well Dalton two great bond movies one them I'd put in my top 5
Crazy that even back then it was considered old.

Dalton and Brosnan look like they could be cousins.
Leon Greene would've been a great replacement...check him out in the flick THE DEVIL RIDES OUT
