Context for her friends trying to propose to Lady: in that time period, one of the absolute worst things for a lady's reputation was having a child out of wedlock.
And Lady was already pregnant with Tramp's puppies at that point.
So Trusty and Jock were offering her an out in a platonic marriage to save her reputation, with the implication that whoever she picked would claim her puppies as their own children. They were actually trying to be very kind and help their friend.

@@invadertifxiii I believe so, I think it was confirmed that the reason those three stray dogs that Tramp fought were chasing Lady because she was actually in heat, and the timeline lines up (early fall, two month pregnancy, and puppies scampering around on Christmas). I sadly don't have the spoons right now to go look up the source, though.

Agreed. I see that more as an adult now and realize why Lady rejected Tramp for a bit: Tramp was reckless and failed to realize that Lady wasn’t equipped to do what he does on the streets and he accidentally got Lady caught by the pound where she learned his history and felt betrayed as she was not only pregnant, but Tramp did the same to other female dogs as well.

I always thought it was because they didn't understand that Jim dear and darling would return and fix everything. That they thought she's now stuck living with aunt Sarah and they need to offer her a home with one of them so she'd have a safe comfortable place to live instead of a dog house.
I kind of doubt they knew so soon she was pregnant. Even if she was it would have happened like..the night before? She'd only had one day with him

Something a lot of people miss about the scene after she comes home from the pound: They're offering to marry her and let her stay with one of them because she's pregnant, and if word got out the father was a street dog, it would've ruined her reputation. They're doing this to help her save face.
Also explains why they got so angry when he showed up again. In their eyes, he knocked her up and left her to take care of the puppies on her own.

Also at 10:31 Their names are actually Jim Dear and Darling, They were briefly referred to as "Mister" and "Missis" before settling on the names. To maintain a dog's perspective, Darling and Jim's faces are rarely shown

  • @firemiracle
    @firemiracle 11 днів тому +26

The spaghetti dinner scene has to be one of the most iconic romantic moments in movie history 🥺
Not only that! Walt Disney himself actually originally didn’t wanted that scene in the movie because he thought it was too silly and felt that the audience wouldn’t take it seriously. Animator Frank Thomas (the man who got the dinner scene idea) was still determined to show Walt that the scene can work, so he animated the entire scene on his own. And once he showed it to Walt Disney, he loved it! So Walt changed his mind and agreed that the scene can stay in the movie 😄
And about Trusty, originally he was gonna die. But because of how heartbroken people got with the movie Bambi, Walt knew that it would’ve been harsh that he would make the audience cry again by letting trusty die. So he let him live, which I think was a good choice.
And the scene where jaq and trusty were proposing to lady is because they learned that she is pregnant. They wanted to marry her as a way to defend her dignity, since way back then women would get shamed for getting pregnant before marriage.

For those who are confused about Jock and Old Trusty proposing to Lady after she is taken back, it's REALLY subtle.
They knew Lady had a night out with Tramp, and by doing so, dog world, the old dog neighbors thought Lady got pregnant. And it would really affect her status if all dog neighbors found out she became pregnant of a stray, who unlikely would stay to help with the puppies. So Jock and Old Trusty decided to one of them pretend to be the father of the future puppies, but still being friends to Lady and to each other.

He sat behind my dad's pickup truck, and as he was driving with my younger sister in the backseat, the backup camera caught Buster, and my dad and sister saw him just sitting there and looking at them like, "What up?"
I did not see it in person because I was still getting ready. We had to padlock the side gates because of that incident. Buster is now 7 years old, but I still think about that incident to this day, and it makes me giggle every time I think about it.

The Pound Dogs had said something about if Tramp ever got too smitten with someone, he may get himself caught trying to protect her. Which actually ended up happening (though, he was trying to protect the baby, but probably mostly because Lady loved the little one so much).

Grew up watching this movie on VHS. A sweet and fun film with great voice performances, the animation was beautiful, the soundtrack was solid, and this film had some pretty good life lessons like how Tramp needed to learn to be more honest about his past and to not be reckless with Lady as he indirectly got her sent to the pound and Lady found out about his history as a result. On a side note, there’s a live-action version of this film as well that I really enjoyed especially the two voice leads and find it underrated as well alongside the animated sequel around the son of Lady and the Tramp that I grew up watching. Your reaction at the beaver scenes 😂❤.

People who don't have pets don't understand how smart they are, I had to become my mother's care giver after she had a mini stroke I came with my dog a Boxer/Whippet mix named Penelope she was never trained for it but she let's me know if my mom needs something and stops her from moving around if I have to leave the house ,I also years ago had a red eyed white ferret named Pancakes she could not only open her cage door but also closed regularly doors, with her we never had to ask what ferret was causing trouble it was always Pancakes.

The sequel was definitely a direct to DVD movie, but it was actually one of the better direct to DVD sequels. A good movie about the importance of family and while we get a rebellious son, he does learn his lessons in the end. There’s also a really nice song in that one about how family is always there for you. And Ariel’s voice actress Jodi Benson voices Lady.

I also used to laugh at hearing the rat squeak when Tramp bit it, but I was petsitting a couple dogs recently and they killed a rabbit in the yard (yes I cried) and it made the same squeaky sound. I at first thought they found a squeaky toy outside. Ofc when I realized that wasn't the case I started screaming and got them inside before burying the poor thing. On that note, I really enjoyed this reaction, thank you, Cody!

The sequel is good. It doesn't have Lady's and Tramp's VA's since it came out 50 years after the original film, but it's still good.
Fun fact: their children's names are Colette, Annette, Daniel, and Scamp.
And if you do end up watching the sequel, give the live action a try. I personally liked it, but a lot of people didn't. Just a fun way to compare and contrast the two at least.

To answer your question Cody, yes he can eat the bone. The only bones they cannot eat is chicken bones because them being cooked they can splinter, but that bone that was thrown to tramp was thick enough that it should be fine for him to eat because people sometimes give The little round T-bone steak bone like my grandma used to do to my dog before he passed away she would soak it in Meat juice And then give it to the dog. The only reason you have to be careful with bones around dogs is to make sure that there thick and sturdy enough that they won’t splinter.

Fun fact about the invention of spaghetti and meatballs:
Many Italian immigrants came from the south (the poor) part of Italy, and were used to a mostly vegetable-based diet. However, when they came to the US they found foods that rich northern Italians were depicted as eating, such as sugar, coffee, wine, and meat, available for prices they could afford for the very first time. This is why Italian Americans were the first to combine meatballs with pasta, and why a lot of Italian American food is sugary and/or fattening.
Italian American cuisine is a celebration of Italian immigrants' newfound access to foods they hadn't been able to access back home.

There are several reasons why Lady (and Jock and Trusty) were so angry and annoyed with Tramp.
Sure, he didn’t leave her behind _intentionally,_ but he WAS arguably somewhat careless in losing track of her (without even realizing it!) in such a risky situation- and after all, it was _because_ of him that she got into trouble in the first place.
Then, there was the matter of all the previous girlfriends (-on top of an additional fear that if he _were_ genuinely fond of her, that weakness could lead to his downfall).
And finally… VERY subtle implication that the kids in the audience would not pick up on, but- they _were_ out all night. Spent the evening together. Woke up next to each other in the morning.
…There is a _reason_ Jock and Trusty came around with offers of “a proposition for helping” Lady.- and it wasn’t about Aunt Sarah (who was only a temporary inconvenience, however unpleasant).
