    Drybrushing the edge of your base to get a feel for your drybrush and how much paints in it before painting on the mini... that's one of the best tips I've heard in the hobby in years... whoever thought of that is a genius.

      "The grey is gonna DEVOUR ME."
      Prime them Zenithal style with Zandri Dust, optionally a touch of white black from right below and a touch of white from right above. It goes relatively fast and is less painful than dull grey plastic minis standing around, and painting feels like it's just dotting the "i"s at that point.

    These new IGs are better proportioned than the older ones, expecially in the heads. This paint scheme is as simple as efficient, when you've to paint a lot of them.
    Plus, with some colours' swap, it could be adapted to other terrain.

    I thought I'd use some of these techniques, plus some brown-white Zenithal basecoating to help speed paint my Cadian airborne. I got to the battle ready stage and really liked it but I thought I needed another highlight. Then maybe another to really make the cloth pop. Then I obviously have to highlight the polymer parts more too right? And faces really pop so I'd better put the work in on those. Now I'm looking at a really pretty squad of guardsmen, in an army that would take months to paint if I paint them like this. I have a problem.

    • @SonicSledgehammerStudio
      @SonicSledgehammerStudio  Рік тому

      Well, the short answer is that there's already a ton of Imperial Guard colour schemes in the back catalogue of videos - especially if you count some of them that aren't on GW miniatures. But I do plan to come back around to these guys again and do something different than the classic US paratrooper look. 😅

    Another fantastic video! Question: When a Model has a foot raised up off the ground, is it worth it to add some texture paint to the sole of his/her boot to tie it into the base or just leave as the general boot colour to save time?

    • @SonicSledgehammerStudio
      @SonicSledgehammerStudio  Рік тому

      Good question! It's something I ordinarily don't pay much attention to, if I'm honest, but I'd go with just drybrushing a little of the 'dirt highlight' on the boot, whatever it might be. Putting the texture paint itself on the boot is going to make the surface look suuuper muddy and gross.
