Another interesting thing that is happening with migration from the US to Mexico, is that less qualified people are coming to take jobs that more qualified and better prepared Mexicans could be taking, but since the companies are American, they prefer to appoint someone from their already established branches in the U.S. rather than "risk" Mexican people not understanding how they want things done. I've seen this in at least 3 companies I've done work for, and one of my best friends is actually a high-level executive that was sent here by her company to "supervise" the startup of their Mexican offices.
Lol, I got a 28 out of 30 on that quiz...and I was born here. Oh Trump, didn't your ancestors come to the U.S. as immigrants in Ellis Island and your wife is an immigrant. In the word's of the nun in Game of Thrones.."shame." With that damn bell.
My opinion? It's stupid. There are people here like my parents who have lived here since the 80s, raised 2 well behaved kids, and even started businesses but are still unable to attain papers. My mom has lived most of her life here- she barely remembers her home town but people here want to send her back.
My ancestors came to the U.S. from Germany, Sweden, the UK, Ireland, and Russia through Ellis Island. They came here because of poverty and war, and they worked hard in farms and factories. Now, my family is college educated, successful in their careers in teaching, finance, trade jobs, and corrections. I am also going to the university for borh Geography and Spanish, with an emphasis in Geographic Information Systems and natural and environmental systems. I am also doing buisness and translation for Spanish. I would like to go to grad school and be a forcaster/meteorologist. None of us would be here without immigration. If you come here, and want to work hard at whatever job you can get, you should be able to be here. You should also be able to care for your elderly family members, and disabled family when you come here. There is plenty of the U.S. to go around, and immigration actually helps the economy. Plus, we have messed with the rights of people in other countries, so it is only fair that we let those people come here for a better life. I WILL HOLD THE LIGHT AT THE GOLDEN DOOR AND OPEN THE DOOR FOR YOU, NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE, AS LONG AS YOU ARE A GOOD PERSON! Immigrants are not a strain on the economy. U.S. Corporations exploiting immigrants in other countries, not paying their fair share in taxes, moving to other countries while getting U.S. benefits without hiring U.S. workers, and them keeping wages low are the strains.
Well, to be honest I am an immigrant as well as my parents. They sat us down and walked step by step what the plan would be in case they get deported. I have a little brother the age of 11 and a sister who would fall into my custody. It's so scary and sad that we have to have talks like this. Or wonder if I myself might get deported. Unfortunately no one will be able to understand the sacrifices our parent's or families have endured to get here. I was the first in my direct family to graduate from high school and go to college. I am hear to make my parent's proud and for them to see that there sacrifices were not in vain. Simple as that. Thank you for this topic. I appreciate someone having a voice! ❤ ❤
I don't know if you would read this but, you forgot that in order to get the H1B you need to enter a lottery system too, is not enough to have a job offer. I'm Venezuelan too and I did my PhD in USA with a fellowship from the USA government and after many interviews most rejections were because I wasn't an American citizen (I guess applying for jobs during the most controversial presidential election year in USA wasn't good as well). At the end I started applying for jobs around the world and I got an offer from Europe ( I'm not EU citizen, just Venezuelan). I left US on January 11th 2017, I like my new home (specially the 24 days of vacation per year :)) I guess long story short USA immigration sucks for everyone even for people with PhD however, is not the only country in the planet to offer a better quality of life. At the end of the day everything happens for a reason. Sorry for the long comment :)
Even the lottery system isn't as easy as winning it. That is how my family came to the US, but we had to go through years of interviews, my parents had to present college degrees, and have someone who would sponsor them once we got here. Not to mention a good amount of money for all the legal stuff and to be able to afford all travel and stay expenses. My parents had to go into debt, even more so than they already were, to be able to immigrate. And if they didn't have all of that, even though they "won" the lottery, they would have been denied.
I'm so happy I live in Canada. Immigration is still hard in Canada but in the United States... It's crazy! Doesn't Trump know that immigrants increase the U.S. economy which is one of the reasons why it's the world's most powerful economy...
Just took the quiz and got 26/30. I was born here wtf
I took the quiz, and the only one that I could get was the "speaking English fluently" one. Born and raised in the US.
SARAN-WRAPPED PILE OF SHREDDED HAM!!
Good luck finding a Nobel prize winner who will pick tomatoes for under minimum wage.

That's a tough question.....how do we feel about immigration in the US?...Well....

It was the land of opportunity now it's the land of the opportunists.
At this point, why would you WANT to immigrate to America.

Girl I'm pissed too! Glad I'm not the only one.
you should come to Argentina, all the Venezuelans are doing it. it's not like the most amazing place in the world (by far) but everyone is welcome :D

I hate when people say “Just come here legally" in a very nonchalant way like if the process takes 3-5 business days to complete.
