  • A couple of years ago I purchased the Rode Video Mic Pro Plus and for the $300 price tag it has been worth it. Due to the positive reviews online I purchased the Rode Wireless Pro and it doesn't seem to work as expected. There are two issues one is that when you plug in the lav it often doesn't record sound, which shouldn't be happening. The second issue is that it records a lot of background noise, much more so than the Rode Video Mic Pro Plus, which shouldn't be the case; it should be the opposite.
I put the volume on 22 out of 30 on my Sony AS7III audio settings. for both RVMPP and RWP.
I have reached out to Rode Support and hopefully they will respond.
Sometime it works, sometime it doesn't.

You are not alone. I bought this microphone recently and it doesn't have good audio quality. I also had the Rode Wirilles Go 2 and it captures much less background noise.

I returned it to amazon and got a refund. They told me there was something defective about it and offered to repair it but since it was within thirty days of purchase I just sent it back to amazon. That being stated, Rode had good customer service.

The locking connectors on the wireless pro lav mics are a bit finicky. What you demonstrated at the end of your video looked like the lav mics did not seat fulling into the 3.5mm inputs. You need to fully twist them in having first backed off the locking ring to ensure the greatest depth of the 3.5mm TRS male connector. Then insert and turn the receiver block (not the 3.5mm TRS male) until the locking nut is fully engaged. I personally don't like the design of the locking nut on these units but if you insert and lock them correctly, they will provide a good signal (unless there was also something defective with you lavs).

I haven’t got the system yet but looking at other reviews, you need to screw the lock in bits for the lav’s.
The poor sound at the start can probably be made better by going in & adjusting setting to gain assist etc to filter out sounds below 75db to reduce wind noise & the sea etc.
I think these systems need some kind of basic set-up before you use them, they don’t seem like a pull out the box & it works kind of kit

its because you don't have it plugged all the way in

I bought it twice and when you plug it in all the way, the sound dies. It only worked when you lifted up a bit, but even then it would cut off without notice.
