- Angela: Angela Davis, that is. At the start of filming in 1969 she was an unknown philosophy professor at UCLA, but by the time the committed communist was imprisoned shortly thereafter, she was already an icon. The film shows Davis both in public and private: at seminars, at demonstrations for political prisoners and the Black Panthers and at her desk at home. Free my brother, my sister, my people!
Written and directed by Yolande du Luart
Cinematography Roger Andrieux, Yolande du Luart, Charles Barnett, Lynn Merrick, Betty Chen, Larry Roman, Brogan Depoar, Earl Samson, Vince Dyer, Joe Shearer
Editing Maryse Siclier, Jacqueline Meppiel
Sound Nancy Dowd

Born in 1932. While studying Film at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), she and fellow students made the documentary Angela - Portrait of A Revolutionary. After the FBI became aware of the group's film work, du Luart returned to France to finish the film. In the following years, Luart worked as a translator.
Her story deserves to be told as much as the black male leaders in the country since they never want a woman to make a difference unless she’s standing next to a man which is bullshit. Angela Davis is one of the most woman (a fair skinned one) to ever stand up all by herself and speak her own mind without anyone’s permission or saying she’s not enough to speak for the people. ✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼
She was probably the most well known female revolutionary at that time, and one of the most well known revolutionaries of any race or gender as well.. People should read her autobiography too
@@SagesseNoir 50,000 east germans wrote to the american government asking for her release circa 1972 but the media only talks about sports players from that era to keep people stupid.
"Black male leaders" have varying levels of consciousness; some with the attitude that you mention, and others opposed to it. And as usual, social reality is more complicated than one often imagines. Actually, there are also many Black women who still think that men OUGHT to be the leaders and spokesperson for the Black liberation Struggle, and others who are more like Angela Davis or Fannie Lou Hamer
Angela Davis. Around 1969 I heard about her and collected different articles of papers because I understand of what hardest of words were written against her, because I thought she was an Absolutely Intelligent of assistance of a Professor of CA. I was a young teacher an followed different thought and ideas to tried to pull better future choices for what I Learned was positive for the USA'S, CITIZENSHIP OF COURSE OF Majority and Minority people, no matter to anyone of discrimination of nationality. I thought of that totally of openness for everyone, but I found out that's not openness for much-needed and I learned I had to do double & tripled in strengthen of the creative designs of different programs, universities and educational process organizations. I followed Angela Davis totally completely from 1969 to even into 2020-P. YES!!!
Why does this have more views... amazing! thank you. More Angela Davis content, please!
POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!? #IAMANGELADAVIS ##REVOLUTION
She is a legend
As a teacher, I use her grading philosophy, and have used it for years. It's not about a competition to reach a certain standard and perform that standard. It's about the effort to gain some deeper understanding, and if you demonstrate some effort, and do it as consistently as you can, then you've educated yourself. To hell with the comparative hierarchy of grades and rankings and all of that capitalist get-ahead-and-stay-ahead bullshit.
This is incredible. Thank you.
x tra thank you.
Amen!

I see what appears to be German subtitles. Was this being shown in Germany? It's good to know that our revolutionary Black freedom fighters are being noticed abroad.
stupid question. 50,000 East Germans wrote to the usa asking for her release. she was famous in east germany and west germany that is why this is in german.
@@dampergoldenrod4156 There are no stupid questions
Angela Davis studied in Germany and finished her PhD there. She was not unpopular there, especially in the GDR (because of socialism/communist regimes in the east).
