I'm a Bill Medley fan, too! When Bill was asked to do this song with Jennifer, he originally refused because his wife Paula was due to have their daughter very soon. They were willing to wait for Bill to be available, so when Paula had the baby, Bill did the song. Their daughter, McKenna, is now a singer too and she sings this song with her father on stage! Unfortunately, Bill lost his wife in 2020. Here's another song that Bill also wrote and performs with friends at his club, The Hop.
