I said that to him a while back and a comment that he was looking great probably going to have to start buying new equipment if he keeps losing weight lol can't imagine his suits are going to fit that well.

If I would have another smartwatch, I would probably buy dedicated diving computer, but Garmin is great for my OWD needs
Looking good big guy! As a personal trainer, proud of you!. My MK3i NEVER leaves my wrist, probably the best piece of kit I have ever purchased. "Body Battery" is a combination of all the metrics to measure your energy level. Everytime I feel like crap because I didnt get good sleep or w/e and dont feel like working out, my "Body battery" has been depleted, so it has matched for I feel which is cool. @@ystebadvonschlegel3295 I have the mk2i (52mm) with a relatively small wrist and wear it 24/7. At first glance it might look too bulky but then you don’t even notice it!👍🏻
Something to mention as well: if t saves your coordinates (if done correctly) of your dives. If you go to the dive app, you can scroll around the globe en see where you have been diving. Soooo cool. I love my Garmin 😊
Dude, I’m older than you and have no problem mastering Mk3i. Also I had no problems connecting it to my iPhone (which is 13 Pro) with Garmin Connect app. Chirping bothered me a few first dives, but now I don’t even notice it. It’s mostly for the folks that also do other sports other than just diving. The only problem I have with it is that I don’t get to wear my nice mechanical watches anymore.
small correction, the Garmin Descent series came out before the Teric and Apple watch ultra, and they did fitness watches before the first apple watch. So basically Garmin took their own fitness, Fenix for argument sake, and added dive capability way back in 2017.
I've been diving with a Mk2i and the T1 transmitter for a few years now and I have loved it. Glad to see you have finally gotten to do a review of a Garmin dive computer. It does give a fair bit of alerts and it can get annoying at times. There is a silent diving mode that you can enable and it should disable any vibrations and tones during a dive. As for the chirping of the transmitter, I have gotten used to it over time but you can also adjust the transmit power of the transmitter. Lower setting will have a lower range but it does make the chirping quieter.
@joshualazenby3403 I have the Mk2ti and I wear it everyday. On the boat it has gps and nav charts. Things it can do are endless. Just leave the transmitter in my dive bag.
What’s crazy is one of my “friends” just laughed at me for talking about cave diving, at my weight. Scoffed at me talking about going into caves, I’m sure Gus heard the same things before in the past. Gus you may not see this but man your doing great and you inspire me to do better when I watch these new videos (in relation to my weight) love you guys and would hope one day I would have the opportunity to dive a cave with these two legends themselves. Thank you Gus for the motivation, and thank you woody for always making me laugh. You guys rock and only wish the best!
I've moved from the Mk2i 51mm to the Mk3i 51mm and LOVE it.. It being able to be my daily wear watch and dive computer too is priceless. Letting your wrist 'device' gather information for/from all your activities during the day is AWESOME.. And the T2 transmitter is amazing too; yes you can hear it chirp, but after a couple of dives you really don't hear it. And underwater diver-to-diver comms is pretty darn cool..
@@amazingtazz1579 the transmitter is noticeably better and lasts longer, the screen is even clearer, four days of 4-dives-a-day ~22 hours on a single charge, under water messaging are all very nice. The algorithm is the algorithm, but it's nice that Garmin is a company that, well, isn't a Suunto (just to name one) that's rediculous when it comes to being conservative. I've also dive my Ratio computers along side both Garmins, all settings as matched as possible, and they're all tracking just about the same. But if I dive the Mk2i and the MK3i on the same dive, with all the values matching, they track the same dive to dive.
I’m new to the dive talk community. Just randomly found you guys and started binge watching. I’m not a diver, can’t even swim. But Gus and Woody are amazing and make diving seem very intriguing. Though I’ll still never do it 😅. Anyways, new subscriber and I’m excited to watch your channel grow! ❤
I can't understand how ppl can't swim at all? Every baby can be perfectly fine in water from birth, btw wiki says - "Most human babies demonstrate an innate swimming or diving reflex from birth until the age of approximately six months, which are part of a wider range of primitive reflexes found in infants and babies, but not children, adolescents and adults." Mom told me that I started to swim before walking, and all my friends here in Ukraine can swim, i never saw somebody here who cant =) I saw maybe somebody, who swim not so great, but can't at all?
I will also never dive but this is one of my favorite channels. It's great to see Gus taking such good care of himself. Hopefully Woody follows his example and feels better soon! ;)
i am an genuine diver and i love diving with my apple watch. i use it for fun dives, single tank, not deeper than 40 meters AND with the knowledge that i sleep in my own bed that night. it is so bright and insanely easy to understand underwater. also the fact that all the data is not only stored on my iphone workout apps, but also on my health app is a big pro. i dont understand all the hate towards it. (ofcourse for my technical dives, with multiple cylinders, i use my shearwater)
@@kasperk679 People who trash the Apple Watch Ultra usually forget that different people have different priorities for their device use. And e.g. they forget that most divers are more recreation oriented, and a 130’ limit doesn’t matter to them.
i think theres a lot that contributed to it... i can't imagine going into the apple watch ecosystem myself for example, just off of the battery alone. 1 month over 1 day, any day. add to it the concept of subscribing to use an existing feature, and i think that's enough ammunition to ridicule a company, and well justified at that - in my own opinion. i don't think the capability of the watch is the target of the ridicule to as much of an extent, bar bicking below 40m. which people might not think of as a bad thing, but in the unlikely 'what if' scenario, on which most of diving principles are founded in the name of safety, it does objectively fail much sooner than other computers. that being said, if you like it and it works for you, that's the main thing to keep in mind! im sure it works for a lot of people. after all, that's why we have so many brands to choose from.
I like shearwater. But think the garmin does a great job of doing more than diving which is a large portion of divers. I’ll keep my shearwater lineup. Great video and honest review.
Mine almost never leaves my wrist and this is the first watch I've worn daily in 2 decades. I received mine in December and have over 250 real dives on it snd it tracks my apnea information as well as my swimming, fitness, everything. I love the real-time air and heart rate monitoring. To me, its the best diving purchase I've made. Id buy another one immediately if mine was ever stolen or lost, without question.
Garmin Mk3i $1400 for the 43mm, to $2100 for the 51mm with 1st stage transceiver. I'm an old guy who started diving before, not only dive computers, but even personal computers ! FYI: Personal computers first came out in 1975, in the MITs Altair. Before both the Apple II (1977) and IBM PC (1981). The first time I saw a dive computer was in the late 1980s. They became "mainstream" by the mid 1990s. By then, there was no reason, not to have one, as a diver.
I got a Mk2i second hand with 30 dives for half the retail price. I have it for a while and I like it as a smart watch and a dive computer. In regards of screen brightness, it's actually good for me. I was a bit concerned about the sonar chirp, but I reduced the transmitter power. I never noticed it and no one ever complained. The app connection always worked perfectly for me, but in terms of UX I have to admit it is a bit of a mess. Formfactor is also a thing. I eventually got used to it, but for a day to day watch it is big. The Mk2i was already quite expensive. If it was today and I had to pay the full price for it, I would probably go for other smart watch and pick a Shearwater Peregrine TX as a computer. The Mk3i does look very cool and I am very curious on what they can come up with in following generations.
I don't scuba dive and I know nothing about Dive computers but I do have a Garmin Fenix 6 Pro Solar. Having that smart watch for my first smart watch ruined other smart watches for me. I only have to charge it once every 14 days. I had an issue with my Fenix and looked at getting s Galaxy watch instead and saw that it needs to be recharged about every other day and I ended up buying another Fenix 6 Pro Solar. I agree the UI is a bit of a mess and the way things work is kind of clumsy but I like it overall. Also, I wear a Constant Glucose Monitor sensor that monitors my blood sugar and I have it on my watch face so I can check my blood sugar by simply looking at my watch.
For the first few years of diving even the most basic computer is fine. A few hundred at most, or a second hand. Only when you go into very advanced diving will you need an upgrade to something like a Shearwater or Garmin. And even then there’s good enough and top of the line. This expensive model is top of the line and replaces both your dive computer and smartwatch. More than most people will need.
Great review Gus. Agree, the messaging function is more of a gimmick at this point. But the one subwave function that is nice, is it shoes your buddies depth and distance from you. So if visability is not great it does help to relocate them. The sonar transmitter can get annoying, but you can minimize it, signal strength is adjustable. The thing I found that really helps is put it on a short hose and tuck it behind you vs right on the first stage. Get it away from you ear. There are times I don't even notice it. As far as the app, that is weird, I've never has an issue with connecting to either the Connect or the Dive ones. I come back to the boat after a dive and it automatically sends the dive to the log. But, I am on android, and not Apple. The Dive app with the map is great, just make sure to start your dive on the watch before jumping in so the GPS can get the entry location. But I'm with you, I like both the Shearwater and Garmin, so every day I use the Garmin, and then add the Shearwater as my second computer on the dive.
You can configure alerts in Apple settings and turn off by app and you can also set it to calls/txt only during activities so when you start an activity it stops alerts.
Gus, make sure to wear the Descent making contact with skin, so you can get Heart Rate infomation. I like the Garmin MK3i, it has a light integrated, you can save waypoints specially for us divemaster for navigation to dive points.
Hey man nice video. personally I have been using an mk3i for over a month and I love it. 2 things u have mentioned that u can control and adjust directly from the watch(without the app): customize what activities u can see, and regarding notifications, u can also block directly from the watch what app u dont want to see notifs from. my only issue is that since last week, the vibration has a been doing a rattling sound as if something is loose inside; hopefully support will reply back soon.
It has been my experience that the Shearwater computers only lose transmission from the transmitters when close to other divers with Shearwaters. It's not that they don't have enough range...but the computer gets too many other transmissions to read its own correctly.
I have the MK2i and got it a few months before the MK3i came out and was first disappointed I missed out on the new, but then realized they didn’t really add any additional features worth upgrading. That said, the MK2i is AWESOME, so I know the MK3i would he as well.
Who's the new guy talkin for Gus??? Just kiddin bro... big ups 💪 I didnt think ive missed episodes, but i musta missed something. Hellava transformation Man 🙏
I had a ScubaPro Aladin Sport dive computer that I used to log my dives till the Apple Watch Ultra came out. I thought having full GPS data from my dives would be awesome; however, after I arrived back at shore after boat dives, many spots weren't recorded. After the year renewal, I decided to cancel the subscription. Last November, my LDS had ScubaPro G2 dive computers with the old style, user servicable battery transponders for $700. They told me the demand for high dollar dive computers weren't as popular as the AI Shearwaters and Garmins. That chunky box is perfect and it doesn't emit audible pings as it uses LF radio.
Gus, your weight loss is amazing. I wanted to just add on the app. I use the garmin mk2i and I absolutely love it. I use the garmin connect and garmin dive. Not the garmin iq. Both of those apps have always stayed connected. When you made the comment that we do the other things. I have to agree as take this in with me on hikes, dives, hunting, gym, public safety dives, and fire fighting (under my turnout gear of course, but it still gets warm lol) But again thank you guys for doing the review, love watching you guys and I hope one day we can dive together in the Pittsburgh area.
Great video post on the Garmin Descent. I have been using watch for a year and a half. I can't say enough about it. It really does everything. I love the Maps. All the apps it comes with it. Running swimming hiking skiing. Also love the sleep/ body battery. The connectivity to other watches is awesome. My 2 sons also have the watch. Being able to monitor each others air levels is great. There are some cons. Being there are expensive. Also wish the battery life was longer.
For Woody. I certainly hope his back is better soon. Even though I am a non-diver, I always enjoy watching Dive Talk. it was interesting to hear about the different aspects of these computers. I have an Apple Watch, and I know I don’t use it for all the things it can be used for. But I love the thing. Thanks for all the great information.
Great video Gus, I like it when you freestyle the topics and go without a script. I recommend you do this format, perhaps not every single time, but more often.
I can't speak about the mark 3 computers. I have a mark 2 and love it. I bought it a my second computer and wanted an all in one watch. I have been able to turn off all the dive alarms and alerts. When I compare it with my shearwater perdix ai they line up with in a minute for deco or NDL. I agree about the Garmin app I don't use. When it came to phone connected alerts, it took a little bit of time but as the notifications come in I was able to disable the ones I didn't want. Now I get the few that are nice to have.. Would love to compare the mark 2 and mark 3 to see the differences.
I've been catching up on all your videos on the channel over the last days, or rather weeks... and when this video here started, i was like "I know that voice, but who's that guy?" Awesome transformation, let's hope my progress is someday as noticeable as yours. 🤗
I love my Mk3i replaced my Apple Watch does everything does it well don’t miss the things that it doesn’t do love the pool feature as an instructor. Don’t have to worry about not stopping it from logging and as an open circuit diver, the beeping disappears for the most part not an annoying thing to me. You can also reduce the sound of the beeping in the transmitter by using the lower power mode and still connect great.
I have Garmin Fenix 3 since... 2018. It doesnt hold baterry for two/three weeks as when they were new but "only" for a week. They did survive stagehand job, cnc job, rock climbing etc etc. So it did got heavy hits and its in ok state. Since this experience Garmin is the only type of sport watch i will buy. (Now i am waiting for a new job to buy Fenix 7 or 8 in my current job it could be scratched in seconds and for that price i dont want it (in my country its 1/2 of a month salary so i want them to be new for a year at least)). And those notification should be easely configureted (if its possible in 8 years old type of watch)
I read that the transmitter has "low power" option which should reduce the beeping sound significantly. Maybe you can try that and report later if it got better. The alerts you can customize.
That transmitter chirp can be made a lot more quiet. If the range is really that far then if the range is not needed, transmitting with less amplitude should still work. Maybe put a piece of tape on the hole where the sound comes out and see if it still works.
I ALMOST bought one of the new Descents due to the GPS capability... REALLY handy on the surface swimming out to a dive site, or to a documented search/recovery site. But I'm one of the lucky people who hears the chirp... Most people in my dive group can't hear it or weren't bothered by it, but I found it very annoying, so I wound up giving it to my stepson, and kept my teric pending a purchase of a perdix 2. Unless there is a big disruption in the market, I'm probably going to be a shearwater guy for life.
@@galvstudent1 You could get a used MK1 or a new or used G1 for the GPS and stick with Shearwater as your primary. They're a small fraction of the mk3i's price, will give you nearly all the mk3i's capabilities (but no ai or network) and don't chirp.
I love your channel!!!! The transceiver is customizable. High = louder = more range. Lower = softer = less range. If the group isn't using the messaging or monitoring buddies' depth/direction/gas there's no need to exceed the lowest setting. Borrow Woody's while he's out. You might like it. ;)
I forgot the name of the company but they are making 50 year batteries with depleted uranium they made a portable phone charger pack, its safe and puts off no radiation. so maybe they will get into watch batteries
Like your videos. Keep them coming please. Agree with your point that dive gear price points are nearly always are driven by quality and functionality. For most divers recreational diving is what they do. That is Air or Nitrox, single tank or manifold twins within no decompression limits or perhaps with modest deco times (even if no bail outs, which is another thing altogether). So a lot of the Garmin 3i computer features are not and never will be of use to them. For them the Suunto Ocean and AI pod is half the price and provides the same form factor with the same Bühlmann algorithm, the same type of sports and health monitoring features, the same easy to read AMOLED screen and useful battery life - and it does not beep and has fewer buttons. It is cheaper because it will not message other divers on the same computers type and is no good (not designed to be) for independent twin side mount, trimix or CCR - which only a few folks will ever do.
Most of the things that you don’t like are really simple things that can be modified and master. I just love my MK3i! A watch that I used for all my activities. Really worth the price.
Not really...look at the new computer they released...already battery problems... I have always been using Suunto (and an Oceanic)...Garmin is WAY better than all of them.
It’s dead easy to remove sports you won’t use in the connect app. Or add sports that aren’t installed and change the order of sports/activities so your most used show up higher in list in quick access. You can also change or add button combos to do certain things. Like I added press and hold middle right and top left to lock buttons. Press and hold bottom left and top right for Man Over Board.
It would be great to see if the messaging aspect really works in a cave - I would love to see a video on that once Woody is back. I hope he gets better soon. As for the comuters I personally think the simpler the better - a diving computer is a supporting item and should be simple and not distract you with complicated handling for pressing button combinations and stuff - imagine you are narced (or panicked) and mistake the buttons and get panicked even more bc you are not able to get the infomation you want on the display... the simpler the better. I think the garmin computer is very good for technical divers amd special divers that want a computer for a lot of deph but if you are a recreational diver I don't believe that the benefits of the watch are that essential for you and do not outweigh the heavy pricing. If you can afford it, well... no one is stopping you but for recreational divers I personally think the simpler it is the better - especially if you do not dive on a regular basis.
The features on the Garmin sound great, but hearing it chirp on the regular would drive me insane! Guess I'll keep my Suunto gear for now. Never had problems with my tank-pod connection there, except for user ereor.
So basically, it’s a good all-around fitness watch that could also be used for some recreational diving.

Hello and thanks for great the review. I’ve been using the mk3i and the T2 transmitter for a couple of months now and I’m surprise about your hearing the beep of the transmitter under water. Maybe it has something to do with the firmware but I never heard it while diving not have my buddies. Maybe my breathing covers it up 😂 For the Garmin Connect IQ app, yes, it can be a little challenging at first but then it works flawlessly (my iPhone is ever older than yours). I’ve switched from The Suunto Core Eon to the mk3i but I’ve been using and wearing Garmin’s watches for a long time (910xt then Fenix 3, 5, Epix) so I’m used to the 5 buttons. Bottom line, it’s a great watch with a super bright screen (I dive in old slate quarry which are pretty dark and I’m over 50 which doesn’t help 😊) and you can wear it all the time, run, sleep, hike, yoga, You name it, it will do the job. The tiny light is, and I was skeptical at first, a great feature, even under water. Obviously, It will not replace a diving light.
Good review, I was thinking about getting a new dive computer. I went and watched your unboxing video that you linked at end. More in the budget of what I would like to spend. The Garmin sounds to have quite a lot of functions. I've had numerous Garmin products, a few have been underwhelming in actual use. As in failures of their primary use.
You can lower the transmitter power to reduce the chirp sound level. I still didn't like it on the lowest power level, so i moved it on a hose and it's routed next to my hip/ weight pockets in close proximity to the hand where my watch is. Now i don't hear anything anymore and have never heard anyone else hear it.
I used garming from mk1 to mk3, amazing all day with logged more than 300 dives. All working flawlessly and sold my old models to get the upgrades, give a good resale price. Never had connection issues with the app, maybe u need an update of the software. Trackers everything u can imagine.
What did they do before dive computers? Do a video on that. Was it paper and pencil. How did you know your depth, how long you need to stop on the way up and all that other stuff.
I was going to mock you so hard until I saw the end. Depth gauges, times and RDP Tables/slates. Basically same calculation as a giant table and you worked off it.
Stop rules are the same. I started diving when computers were new.. you were basically out of your mind to rely on a computer.. so.. you had a watch, depth gauge and dive tables and you planned before the dive and dived that plan. You could extend the dive by doing a multi-level dive, which would require more planning before hand. I quickly started using a computer and other divers thought I was nuts..
If you want a look into old time dive equipment, there is a yotube channel called "Alec Peirce Scuba", who has learned diving in the 1960s or 70s. Used to build his own rebreather. He has a video list called vintage scuba, where he shows some of the old equipment he used. Very interesting. They started diving without pressure gauges. They had something call J-Valve on their tank, that allowed you, when you ran out of air, to pull a lever and have a couple of minutes more air to get to the surface ... crazy stuff...
hi, i have the same phone works fine from the beggining go to connectivity - pair phone and customize the alarms ,i use a ratio ix3m2 tech+ and with twe same GF reads just the same i very happy with the Garmin one do it all and by the way you look great
Those were great criticisms for improvement! I have managed to limit the notifications to just sms and phone calls (plus ig dms by choice) on my mk2s i can't remember where i did it haha, but I freaking love this watch / computer. And YES i hope they put the light on the smaller watch. They seem to mimic those base functions with the Fenix line though 🙂
I'd love if you guys could recommend me a decent GoPro (or gopro-like device). Not for serious depths but just poodling around snorkling would be good.
Well, i use Teric with 2 transmitters for sidemount cave diving, because it bulletproof. As a secondary computer i use Huawei Watch Ultimate (it does all health and training features. After 100 dives Huawei Ultimate stopped to react apparently due to water damage. Huawei kniws the problem and replaced it immediately
I have a garmin swim 2, i freestyle swim open water almost every morning but my garmin never registers the distance correctly, i swim the exact same distance everyday and its either at 1.2 kms or 900 meters, give or take 200 to 300 meters always missing 😢, they said its cause my arm is in and out of the water and gps signals get lost inside the water… i wonder if theres any watch i can use for a more accurate reading🤔
@@DreadQuinn That's fair. But thinking about the context of app development, it doesn't make sense to look only for the american costumers. Probabily if we look from Garmin perspective, it makes more sense to invest more in an app that more people worldwide will use? I'm not american, and we do have a Garmin online store localized for us. In the end of the day, it's no excuse for a big company not to develop good apps for both plataforms.
The chirp also bothers everyone else in the dive group. I went on a dive where the shop was testing them out, and 5 people had them. It was the worst dive i have been on.
What do you guys think about the 308m Font Estremar dive? There's very little footage of it online, but maybe you could get more through your connections in the community. It's crazy that the human body can withstand such depths
The Garmin smartwatches always tell me that I need more sleep, and have a lower body battery, when I wake up than when I went to sleep. It would be nice to get that working.
Android commands almost 70% of the market so iPhone is certainly not more popular, but I agree that the app should work perfectly regardless of platform. Also, apples are for eating. Also the notifications is a human error problem not a Garmin problem. It's like saying, "why won't my car move forward, damn you Toyota", but you have to shift the gears. As a Garmin owner, it's very easy to change the notifications on your phone and on the watch itself.
Dude your weight loss has been absolutely amazing, you look great man 💪

I've moved from the Mk2i 51mm to the Mk3i 51mm and LOVE it.. It being able to be my daily wear watch and dive computer too is priceless. Letting your wrist 'device' gather information for/from all your activities during the day is AWESOME.. And the T2 transmitter is amazing too; yes you can hear it chirp, but after a couple of dives you really don't hear it. And underwater diver-to-diver comms is pretty darn cool..
@@mikedugan3253 same! 😀
@@mikedugan3253 since you had the Mk2 and now have the Mk3: what are the improvements on diving matters?
You looking to get rid of your MK2i?
@@darrellb6302 nope, I still use both.
Looking sharp, Gus!
Hopefully Woody follows his example and feels better soon! ;)
Get some swimming lessons and get certified!
i am an genuine diver and i love diving with my apple watch. i use it for fun dives, single tank, not deeper than 40 meters AND with the knowledge that i sleep in my own bed that night. it is so bright and insanely easy to understand underwater. also the fact that all the data is not only stored on my iphone workout apps, but also on my health app is a big pro. i dont understand all the hate towards it.
@@kasperk679 I will never trust my life and safety with an apple product. I'd rather dive with tables then touch that junk
The ultra looks great. I just hate you have to buy subscription for diving
I like shearwater. But think the garmin does a great job of doing more than diving which is a large portion of divers. I’ll keep my shearwater lineup. Great video and honest review.
I hope you feel better soon Woody. Hurt my knee yesterday thinking I was 20 also… But we will will get through it. 😊 Happy birthday🎉 again Woody.
I love my Mk2i for day to day and diving. The battery life is unmatched
Better then the 3 battery
imo the garmins main strength is that it pairs with the inreach which means it's an amazing dive computer for somewhere remote
I not even a scuba diver but I found this review so interesting until the very end
That’s cool! Still think Garmin is awesome for sending those to you and Woody, by the way, woody hoping for a speedy recovery for you!
@@specialsause949 Agree. If I went with a smart watch that isn't a dive computer I would probably still go for a Garmin.
I absolutely love this watch / computer. Got it recently & it’s hands down the best watch computer I’ve used. Love it.
For a non diver like me these price ranges are insane. From almost dirt cheap up to a months salary, I don't know what to look out for.
garmins might be expensive but they have great quality and great customer service
As a diver i think its insane too
What's wrong with a Rolex?
Whoa man you look totally different! Great job, Gus. It’s motivating seeing how hard you must be working to be where you are.
Yeah you may be right about that
I have the MK2i and got it a few months before the MK3i came out and was first disappointed I missed out on the new, but then realized they didn’t really add any additional features worth upgrading. That said, the MK2i is AWESOME, so I know the MK3i would he as well.
You can reduce volume of that underwater quirks in settings Gus 😉
Who's the new guy talkin for Gus???
Just kiddin bro... big ups 💪
I didnt think ive missed episodes, but i musta missed something. Hellava transformation Man 🙏
Not going to get to watch in full yet, but gosh I love Dive Talk Fridays and love having these to look forward to all day/week.
GET WELL SOON WOODY!!
I have to agree as take this in with me on hikes, dives, hunting, gym, public safety dives, and fire fighting (under my turnout gear of course, but it still gets warm lol)
But again thank you guys for doing the review, love watching you guys and I hope one day we can dive together in the Pittsburgh area.
Gus You're looking so amazing dude. Congrats. The places you will go and see that you couldn't before. Its awesome seeing your journey. Keep it up!
I've been catching up on all your videos on the channel over the last days, or rather weeks... and when this video here started, i was like "I know that voice, but who's that guy?"
Awesome transformation, let's hope my progress is someday as noticeable as yours. 🤗
I love my MK2i it’s my everyday watch, wish they would have a trade in program so I can upgrade
Low power is an option but reduces range and at least for T1 most people reported it didn’t eliminate the noise
Finally a watch that can track my record breaking sleep schedule
I didn't even recognize you at first. Keep up the good work 🏋🏋💪
gus you look awesome and healthy man. major props looking better and better every new video :)
Unless there is a big disruption in the market, I'm probably going to be a shearwater guy for life.
the gps and dive maps are great
@@galvstudent1 You could get a used MK1 or a new or used G1 for the GPS and stick with Shearwater as your primary. They're a small fraction of the mk3i's price, will give you nearly all the mk3i's capabilities (but no ai or network) and don't chirp.
Dude you look like a completely different guy. Congrats if that's what you wanted. I don't dive but always enjoy your perspective & interactions.
You can fit through those tight squeezes now. Nice job.
The chirping is a NO GO for me!
Hahaha “this this whatever… LTE” got me cracking up. Go off Gus!!
Dang Gus just saw a video of you 2 years ago. You slimmed up well, definitely looking more healthy. Good stuff💯🔥
Gus is looking great, as someone who went through dropping 120 lbs myself, I know how tough it was, not to mention the buying new gear part 😅
I can visually see that you are getting ripped my dude! Good job!
Gus, you look so great, it's so awesome and it really gives me hope. Great job dude, you rock!
I have a Petrel as my primary computer; and a Teric as back-up. Shearwater are just too good to tempt me away . They are bullet-proof.
Petrel 3 are subject to a recall lol
Not really...look at the new computer they released...already battery problems...
I have always been using Suunto (and an Oceanic)...Garmin is WAY better than all of them.
I know about multiple that have been RMAd for issues with the pressure sensor and others for issues with buttons. Not good.
@@ubaldo_ubi_purchiazza5109and garmin has great customer service
I love my Teric.
Love my Garmin Marq Captain for sports and sailing. They really are superb built and top of the range plus they last ages on a battery.
Get well soon Woody
Im still running the Descent Mk1. I'd love the Mk3i but its so expensive.
Congrats on your hard work for your glow up! :)
😎 Bro’s aging backwards! Looks ten years younger! 💯
Maybe my breathing covers it up 😂
For the Garmin Connect IQ app, yes, it can be a little challenging at first but then it works flawlessly (my iPhone is ever older than yours).
I’ve switched from
The Suunto Core Eon to the mk3i but I’ve been using and wearing Garmin’s watches for a long time (910xt then Fenix 3, 5, Epix) so I’m used to the 5 buttons.
Thank you Gus for reviewing Mk3. I recently bought Mk3 and I am loving it. Amazing piece of tech it is. Btw what watch face do you have on your mk3i?
Good review, I was thinking about getting a new dive computer. I went and watched your unboxing video that you linked at end. More in the budget of what I would like to spend. The Garmin sounds to have quite a lot of functions. I've had numerous Garmin products, a few have been underwhelming in actual use. As in failures of their primary use.
Great review, my Journeys Edition Teric started indeed with 7day up time. but lately I only get 2 day's out of it. with diving 1 / 2 dive a day.
Man Gus be looking good lately 👍 send him to Hollywood
I second the recommendation for Alec Pierce’s channel.
@@ironized Thanks for reading til the end.
I just got the Suunto Ocean and would love to hear how it compares. Other than the light, it sounds like the features are comparable.
hi, i have the same phone works fine from the beggining go to connectivity - pair phone and customize the alarms ,i use a ratio ix3m2 tech+ and with twe same GF reads just the same i very happy with the Garmin one do it all and by the way you look great

Love this video Gus! Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on the Suunto Ocean? Asking for a friend 👀🙈
Just a correction: Android have 70% of the market of smartphones. I also know that is more expensive to develop for iOs than Android.
Depends where you live. In the US Apple has a 60% market share. Context is important.
More expensive to develop for iOS but way more profitable. iOS users spend more
@@DreadQuinn That's fair.
@@adriendod Yeah, but the Garmin app is free in both plataforms. So the users will not be spending any money on either plataform anyways.
Congratulations on spending more for a phone.
Looking good Gus.
Wishing woody speedy recovery 🙏
Gus I’m a massive fan of dive talk, but it would amazing to see your work out journey as well, I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d enjoy it
Yes! 👍
Garmin aftercare is top quality too, more often than not they will replace out of guarantee broken watches too.
