The Iconic Islands Cruise by Marella Cruises, onboard the Marella Explorer is on sale again in 2024. We went in August 2023 and this cruise ship vlog is your complete guide to the Marella Iconic Islands Cruise.
The Marella Cruises Iconic Islands cruise is a cruise onboard the Marella Explorer and takes you to some of the most idyllic Greek Islands.
The Iconic Island Cruise boards in Corfu Town, it then has a sea day, where you can explore all the wonders of the amazing Marella Explorer. The next day is Santorini. On our Iconic Islands Cruise, we took an excursion to Oia, one of the most photographed and picturesque areas of Santorini. Next was Mykonos. It was meant to Be Rhodes next, but the Marella Explorer captain, switched the two days around for our convenience. Mykonos is probably one of our favourite Greek Islands, and was certainly our highlight of the Marella Cruises, Iconic Islands Cruise, it was also the setting of the classic play and film, Shirley Valentine. Rhodes was next, with it's beautiful walled town, then Souda the next day. Souda is the port for Chania, a beautiful Venetian styled harbour town. It was Katakolon the following day, which is the port for Olympia, home of the Ancient Olympic Games. We took an excursion to Olympia that day. Finally, it was back to Corfu, where we had a few hours, before we made our way home.

Postcard & A Pint was thought up by my partner, Rachel & myself, Wills one day while taking our daily 1 hour exercise during the lockdown of 2020. All of a sudden, we were spending more time together, not working 6 or 7 days a week in the arts industry, and binge watching travel programs, and we were actually really enjoying it, and it made us re-evaluate what was important in life for us. Now back to working 6 or 7 days a week again, with very little time off, our happy time is getting out there on our brief times off together and making short travel videos that we are now sharing with you. Hi both this cruise does look so good and the complete guide is good to watch all at once. The weather was really appealing too compared to our weather in North Wales hehe ! Love old churches and the places of history. The whole cruise looked great ~ Anna 👍

I know!! When I used to work on them, especially in europe, it was out by your lifeboat in 7 languages!! Used to take ages! All the staff were so amazing, we really enjoyed it as a cruise line. We hope you guys can get on a cruise soon. We keep looking at Caribbean. We can find good value cruises, but the flights are the expensive part! Cheers for watching 🍻

The Mrs was on a roll with the cruise vlogs tonight, so we watched this one, too. The islands looked stunning, we've never been to Greece, and this looked like an ideal way to sample the different islands.
Cheers again! This was such a great week and as you say the perfect way to sample a few islands. It made us realise that we want to go back and do an island hopping trip ourselves. It was very very hot though!! We won't be doing an island hop in August! Cheers for watching 🍻

My wife and I just watched this in our theatre! We are itching for a vacation right about now!!! The island is so packed full of character just so beautiful, the markets are a place where I could spend a lot of money. We both really enjoyed this very much, thank you!

We hear a lot about cruising the American lines, but its wonderful hearing options out of Europe. Seems like an incredible experience with shows, food, and great ports. We hope to explore more of Greece the next time we are there. Would love to see Mount Olympus and the sites of the first Olympic Games. As far as islands, Mykonos and Rhodes seems to be the next two islands we should visit.
This is a great line. They’re not grabbing your money left right and centre once you’re on board. I’ve seen a video where some Americans did sail. It’s hard to book but not impossible!! Cheers

Lots of great and useful information. TUI and Marella seem to look after all the details really well. I like that you can have buffet for dinner as we liked that with Royal Caribbean, set times to eat offend us haha. This was an awesome itinerary.

Room 21 in Binary! 10101. A great choice of restaurants. Definitely don’t tire of seeing the sea, I could watch it for hours. The stop offs are incredible and also look incredible from the ship. A good entertainment line up. Nice nod to Shirley Valentine. Great info about the drink packages available, worth the premium id think. So many activities available. A great cruise for sure! 👍

I love the sea day! I’ve done a few cruises and sea days were always so chill. Hanging out on the deck, relaxing on the chairs, eating and drinking frozen goodies, pool, dinner…excellent I’m so envious! 😊 and I loved our waitstaff! They’re so fun :)
Ohhh I remember Santorini. We stayed close to Fira for a few days and it was so beautiful. The SUNSET 🌅
I LOVED CHANIA TOO!! I love seeing places I’ve been through your lense. We were on Crete for a couple days also, I specifically loved a glass bottom boat tour, the restaurants on the water, and the maritime museum!
To be honest we’d have loved another sea day. They are really chill. 🍻

We've never tried a cruise but tempted. Slightly worried that we'd feel a bit cramped by all the passengers.

Thank you so much for watching now that's a million dollar question. Both would be great - if you love Greece then eastern med for sure. We love Greek food, the beaches, the ports as they're mostly near the towns......But..... western med gives you scope for more countries so more diversity in the places you're going, more city stops and again good beaches and western med has Olbia in it - our fav!). You'll have a blast on either. Have a great time 🍻

Just back from one week on the Marella Explorer, and can only describe it as Benidorm at sea with a lot of Butlins style entertainment, football tops seems to be the dress code and I'm no prude, I would imagine the vessel will be getting hacked to pieces in a ship wrecking yard very soon. A lot of areas smelt of open drains, poorest quality buffet ever seen (on land or sea) with maybe 4 evening choices of very poor quality food as was breakfast and lunch....................The places visited were very nice, but as for the ship its a true saying, you cant polish a turd.
Thanks so much for watching. We didn't have that experience at all last year. Maybe you just had a bad cruise experience. We loved the ship and it always felt clean and well kept. Yes she's an old ship now, but we thoroughly enjoyed it and it didn't feel Butlins at all (saying that we're not ones for late nights and prefer a quiet drink on back deck over a party!!).
